Good write up in the Guardian from last night
Patrick Bateman replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
It is still Owen's "the most lethal weapon a player can has is pace" comment that cracks me up. Because obviously nothing else matters. We should never have got rid of Jonno "Quick" Forte! -
What is 'UJ' on Twitter? Feel I am missing out on something.

You've got a point, I have to suffer East Midland trains too every couple of weeks - they are always late, always overcrowded and their Guards incredibly miserable. One thing going for South West Trains, generally the Guards are good humoured and willing to help.
-
Christ, sorry to hear that, puts the train issue into perspective
-
That's the bit I DO like about it. 50 mins, sat on a train, with my own thoughts, book, silent working - whatever I want to do!
-
They are atrocious on every level. I commute in daily from Fleet to Waterloo at a cost of nearly £7000 a year, the trains are late over 75% of time (even by a couple of minutes, it still matters) - the list of excuses is getting worse and worse. But there is no choice, I have to use them. The ticket office staff are barely there and are rude when they are there. The ticket machines often fail and won't take card payments. The car parks are overpriced (another £1000 a year on top of the £7000 annual train ticket). And then the trains are late, smelly dirty, over-crowded.

FA Cup 3rd Round - Ipswich (H) - £10 tickets

The 2nd round ties are this weekend I think? I also think Eastleigh are still in it!? -
Michael Owen: "The most lethal weapon you could have in football is pace" Wow, what a revelation, why did we let Jonno Forte go!? Damn it!

Funny you should say that ... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2849316/Outbreak-bubonic-plague-Madagascar-claimed-47-victims-spreading-island-s-capital.html

He's a boring commentator and towing the line without anything interesting to say backed up by any real knowledge from around the country.

Saints vs Sheffield Utd (A) Capital One Quarter Final

Has anyone got their tickets yet? Still haven't got mine!? -
I do see the irony, but I can caveat it by saying that I'm not in the public eye, nor posting anything controversial
-
Simple answer; Never post anything on the internet and certainly not social media. Especially if you are more in the public eye.

Saints 0-3 Man City - Taking the positives

He's surprised me by coming over really well in his new punditry role! -
How's Verona?

You're right, it really should be that obvious. I presume the Europa League wouldn't be a) as much of a pull and b) give us a great deal more cash to strengthen though. Assuming; 1. we have no decent young players to come through next year (I don't know if this is true, but let's assume that is the case) 2. that Jay Rod gets fit before next summer and stays 3. likewise JWP 4. We don't lose any more players (!!) What do we need, a goalie, another right back, a centre back, a defensive midfielder, 2 forward players? If we get some decent young players come through, then bonus. If we lose any existing players (which could easily happen still), then Europe will still be a step too far for the squad.

the Danny Ings thread ----yet again
Patrick Bateman replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
People on this forum were for YEARS demanding we sign Wade Elliott, Brian Howard and Wayne Bridge. -
It's rude to come over when there is a Saints match on, tell them not to bother.
-
To be fair, Theo Walcott played 21 matches for us and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 36. So he's in good company ...
-
Exactly this. It's totally understandable what he's saying, all his international team mates play for clubs of a much bigger stature than Southampton. Which is fine. I'm sure if we get into the Champions League (you never know) then he'll be offered a shed load more money to stay and make a stab of it. If at that stage he still wants to go to a traditionally bigger club, then that's fine - he's actually been here a while now and while it would be nice to see him get a testimonial at Saints, I think we all know it's unlikely.

Cost of your car in relation to income?

I agree, he probably wasn't on a bad salary, with good benefits as it is. Sod him, hopefully the black box has identified someone who can line manage a very good group of scouts.
