Les Reed talks Foreign Player Quota & Scouting Street Football
Patrick Bateman replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Exactly this! I grew up in a dead end road in the mid 80s, we used to play British Bulldog, ride bikes, play football & cricket, the lot ... all in the street, with no fear of being run over. I wouldn't let my son do that now, too many HUGE cars being driven carelessly with w**kers on phones fiddling with controls and at speed. More deliveries too. And yes, more awareness of weirdos rather than just the odd weird house you used to avoid going near. Also, I saw some lads kicking the ball in the park though the other weekend, which made me smile as again, you don't often see it enough as presumably they're sat indoors playing bloody football manager instead of kicking the ball around!? -
Much much much better. Pretty good UX design there - it works nicely for me and is much better to read.

Can you blame them? From what I read (I wasn't there), it sounded like some horrendous experience with people wandering around most of the match looking for hot dogs and popcorn. I think they've royally f**ked up that move and totally misjudged what most football fans are. In that statement I include 'lads' who go, old men who go AND families that go. Who wants to go along and eat bloody popcorn and have people wandering around all match going back and forth buying the stuff. Just get behind the team, TRY to build an atmosphere and support. Again by the sounds of it, our fans managed to create an atmosphere yesterday? I think they'll struggle with the new fans walking around buying popcorn. So whilst it seems an odd point to raise, I do get it.

Very satisfying coverage for a change, also good for 'boro fans now - so far a well produced program, hurrah, they're learning.

Didn't expect anything less - it's the Olympic stadium. An excellent stadium and was awesome for the athletics, but not a football ground.

I was pleased to see that as well. Although am I odd to read this fro the dreary BBC, which annoyed me? 'Former Liverpool striker' FFS! "Cardiff City came from behind to stun Rotherham at the New York Stadium thanks to a Rickie Lambert double. The former Liverpool striker scored twice in five minutes to ease the pressure on boss Paul Trollope."

Because he HAD to? They don't have the riches of the premier league to go and buy the immediate talent, they are forced to develop it. Which I prefer, but hey ho.

'Arry. 'triffic at interviews. 'trffic lad, 'triffic signing. He's 50 years old, he's 'triffic.

Yes and no - it's not just Sky is it? It's the BBC and every paper going. I read the Metro on my morning commute, which is supposed to be a UK-wide paper, Saints got a small paragraph about the cup match (compared to Jose, sorry, Man Utd's 2 pages) and barely any mention of the Europa League win. Also, did you know Hesketh scored with his right foot? They're so f**king ambivalent towards any clubs other than the usual suspects that they can't even be f**king bothered to watch the game/goals and get their facts right. Yet, they'll dribble on for a page about Rooney or Zlatan or Jose. It's just ridiculous.

Appreciate what you're saying. Speaking for me only, I have lost interest in the 'premier league' and the ridiculous circus that goes with it. I love Saints and I don't care where we play or what we do (although a cup final would be lovely), but the whole circus around the premier league can do one. Jose this, Pogba that, suck Klopp's klopp, Pep Pep Pep, Conte, Pep, Pep, Conte, Jose, Pogba. A little Wenger, but he's boring. Some team called Leicester? Pep Pep Pep Jose Pep Pep, Conte, Pogba, Old Trafford, Pep. It's tedious.

Really impressed with Hesketh and his passing, goal was the icing on the cake, well done him! Martina great again - I think I prefer his physical presence to Soares in the side, especially if we're playing titchy midfielders. I though Clasie was good, JWP was good, Fonte was back to looking more like Fonte and although Long should have scored, both he and Austin were very good again. Big shout to Targett, he looked like he was enjoying his football and reminded me of that good spell he had in Jan/Feb under Koeman. Oh yes, McCarthy good in goal too, looked solid. Just a great team effort.

Just keep pasting http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/tickets/ into a new browser tab. If you get the queue, kill the tab and do it again. Eventually you'll hit the server that is more free and let you straight in - just got mine. Numbered just under 5000. -

Europa League 2016/2017 (Died 8/12/2016)

Indeed, but hey ho, I'll be there regardless! -
I hear you, but then they've probably spent 40/50 years going along and moaning. Some people just like a f**king good moan. I bet they still found something to moan about after we spanked Sunderland 8-0 ... "too much sideways passing" or "we'd have scored 10 if we'd signed xyz"
-
Exactly this! Trouble is, it's easy to be negative and the sky/football manager generation want to either reboot the game to win or just expect to be Man Utd. Unfortunately the Dave Jones era started 19 years ago and we haven't played at the Dell for 16 years, so that's a huge generation gap that doesn't appreciate the 'position' of Saints in the football pyramid. Christ, it's now over 11 years ago we were relegated FFS.
