Jack Dee sounds a bit different in that song. :-?

Anyway, I'd say this is proof (not that it's needed) that Rasiak is fookin' class. I can't believe some of the "Get rid! Now!!!!" knee jerk reactions after he failed to win the game playing up front alone against Ajax.

Just got back. A really good game, which proves that either Scottish Premier League football is not as good as Division three English football, or else our team is not as crap as some would have us believe.

Hearing the team selection to start the match, I thought that the team looked reasonable; certainly what I would consider our strongest team apart from the debate about whether John or Rasiak were the better striker. Pardew perhaps thought that it was better to play either one with a younger pacier foil in Paterson, so had John on first and then gave Rasiak a crack later. And although John looked solid and useful during his spell, Rasiak was simply outstanding, scoring pretty well with his first touch of the ball, but also scoring another good goal too. It has to be said though that Rasiak's two goals were courtesy of our two new full backs Murty and Harding. Murty put in a man of the match performance IMO and got to the byeline several times and put some devastating balls into the box, one of which was finished ably by Rasiak.

Lallana looked useful, Gillett was his usual bustling self, Mills shows good promise and Perry and Thomas looked commanding at CB. So we have a solid back four, a promising midfield and a bit of a connundrum up front. Oh, not to forget Davies, who had little to do, but must be the best keeper in this division.

This match was so different to the Ajax one and granted that Hearts aren't Ajax, but one is left wondering whether this team and the tactics employed today might have produced a different result. Certainly the team seemed to be motivated and had a massive confidence boost with going one up. Having a win by 3 goals and a clean sheet will enable Pardew to give them a mighty pat on the back and some belief in themselves.

I suspect that it is much clearer in his mind as to where the changes need to be made, where new players brought in might produce improvements.

On this evidence, Murty must be signed, Harding is a good buy and Rasiak and John could certainly have a future here if they want to stay. Just by the by; where was Schneiderlin today? Is he injured?

to be fair..it is not

most in this league would dream to have rasiak, john, KELVIN in their teams at least

thrown in a lallana, murty, thomas and maybe harding too

by all means we need to improve but to suggest (and some still do) that we should be happy just to survive this season is utterly daft

with another 3 good additions we could well go all out for the play off from where we start

If we can stay up this season and "consolidate" I will be delighted.

Good game. Mills and Gillett impressed with energy and fight. Lallana looked a new player from last season with skill and improved work rate.Rasiak did well when he came on and took his goal well.

Murty must be signed he tackles well and has a good cross on him and by the looks of it seemed to be organising the team.

Sorry, but good as this result was, we still need 10 decent players IMO. I think the midfield is dangerously short of quality and cover. James and Gillett are the only two we have on the books who I'd bet on doing the job next season, assuming Lallana is used as a striker.

Agreed.

I don't know why people seem to think we'll struggle all season with the likes of Carlisle, Exeter, Hartlepool, Stockport......

Fair enough we start with -10, but Leeds started with -15 and still wiped the floor with league 1.

Most teams in this leauge would die for most of our players, and at last it looks like we have a manager who is able to mold it all together.

I agree in a way

but dont under estimate how poor the standard in general this league is either

Not a bad summing up though I would like to say that Mills looked poor. Either he was ordered to play in the centre circle for most of the match or he was way out of position. What this did - particularly first half was compress the play into the right hand side as there was no out let to the left! This had the effect of crowding out Lallana giving us no width. This 'tactic' continued until Gobern came on and he stretched their midfield by playing much wider. Result was Lallana and Murty had much more room and we started to construct attacking movements.................

All the more reason to build a decent squad, d*ck the lot of them and go straight back up IMO.

At the moment I see a slightly worrying resemblance with 05/06. Selling a couple of decent striker (DMG and Saga / Phillips and Crouch) hanging on to a top 'keeper (Davis / Niemi) and a few old favourites (Rasiak, John, Gillett / Prutton, Oakley, Pahars). Then add a few bargains (Harding, Murty / Hajto, Belmadi) and hope to go up on the basis that this league is crap and we will walk it.

We're still 4 wide midfielders, 2 central midfielders, 2 centre halves a right back and a striker short of a complete squad IMO.

I would agree with you there... thing is... we may have a decent first 11 if all our fit... but we have no depth to cover if we have a spate of injuries.

Yes, it is another rung down the footballing ladder but I don't think there is a massive gap between the CCC and L1. See recent promotions/relegations as statistical evidence.

Yep if our first 11 is something like:

Davis

Murty Thomas Perry Harding

Lallana James Gillett Mills

Rasiak Paterson

Then our second would be something like:

Bart

Thomson Lancashire Wotton Molyneux

Gobern Schneiderlin Pulis Holmes

John White

That second line-up makes my skin crawl if I'm honnest.

My heart skipped a beat after seeing that!

Bloody hell, imagine Thomson, Lancashire, Molyneux and Bart in the same defence :o

Of that team, there are probably only two or three who could step up and provide adequate cover... and that's not alot over a 46 game season (exc cups)

The real difference between CCC and L1 is not the quality, its the size of the clubs in the divisions IMO.

Must have been watching a different game LOL.

Most of our plays went up the right wing first half, but Harding and Mills linked up well down the left several times, making some good chances IMO.
