NickG Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 He has said he would like a "good" club in CCC or higher. But if good opportunity does not come in he loves it here - didn't want to go on loan last year. Pretty much sitting on fence and keeping options open. I wouldn't be surprised if he stays, and if he plays like he did against Hearts will be happy for him to do so.
S-Clarke Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 I think '1' of the poles will stay. Read Pards comments in the echo tonight and TBF it doesn't sound like a manager who's preparing to lose both Poles. Something along the lines of : Lambert’s move means they now possess some real firepower and proven options in attack that can help push them up the league.'' Dannyboy_Saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Rasiak up fornt with Lambert!!!? We're not trying to out pace them then! ??: If we play it along the ground and use the wingers and full backs to get to the by-line we wont need to break the offside trap too often. At least we know that both strikers are capable of scoring from all directions. with either foot and their heads.

S-Clarke Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1751000,00.html It looks like being a case of Poles apart for Southampton tonight as Rasiak returns but Saganowski misses out… Alan Pardew has stated his intention to name the strongest side available for this evening's 1st Round clash against Northampton Town and has been boosted by Rasiak's return to fitness. krissyboy31 Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 I doubt it. All depends on his wage demands I suppose. His wage demands are only relevant if he is going to extend his contract. david in sweden Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 in starting line up for tonight! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/Home/ I think the majority of us would like to see him stay - and score lots of goals -but the truth of the matter is more likely to be that tonights game is a showcase for him - and if he scores a couple - he'll be on his way to Watford by the weekend. I only hope we recover a fair portion of the £2 million we paid Spurs, as I think we didn't get all our money's worth - even though his 20 goal season was nice to see. saints-cris Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 I doubt it to be honest, he didnt want to be here last season, and i dont think much would have changed. CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Strength in depth..........its a long season. As long as they stay motivated keep both Poles. Well keeping Rasiak this season is going to cost the club £800k in wages + whatever we can get now in a transfer fee - a combined number well north of £1m I'd say . For that kind of money we could sign another player of Ricky Lambert's quality who actually wants to play for this club , I ask you which is the better way to spend the clubs cash ? niceandfriendly Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Surely, if someone is that interested in signing him they'd not want him Cup-tied this evening? Interesting... if we can keep him and he puts the effort in that'd be unbelievable good news for us. Rasiak and Lambert are easily capable for 20+ goals each. Won't hold my breath though as Ras could easily play above League 1.

sotonist Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 rasiak is the kind of player we could not attract to the club money or no money. if we can keep him and he can be motivated then we should. the only worry is a lack of mobility up front. Joesaint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Great news if he stays, hope we can get the ball crossed into the box (good wingers) if we (AP) gets it right which I feel over time he will, we will be a real force. COYS

bpsaint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 He certainly has talent and a bit of quality but he's just so ****ing lazy. If he started playing like he was interested he could easily get 20 goals this season.

Dont think anyone can dispute his goal-scoring ability but if he stays then he is going to have to put a bit more effort into playing for the team instead of himself. Henderson, Hoskins, Ellington, of whom only Smith and Graham appear to be in any favour. (Although I think Hoskins would be a good signing for us, nippy striker to play alongside Lambert)

He was v happy - was sat near the dug out and watched him mucking around and laughing during the first half. Although you prob can't read much into that tbh. I'd read more into the fact that he's now cup tied, could deter some clubs IMO.

NickG Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Looked well up for it when came on, positive play and chasing back. Smilimg and mucking around with Bart at half time. Pardew saying on radio that hopefully he will realise the grass isn't always greener and will want to partner Lambert. Those two would score some goals. S-Clarke Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 definately sounded that he is trying to convince him to stay and not given up. TBH i cannot see him getting paid the same wage at Watford, so whatever happens he'll have to take a wage dip. AFAIK he's very settled in new Milton and his family love it there (who wouldn't?) - so i reckon we have a chance. He'd be great alongside lambert......jesus, it would even be prolific in the championship.

Mr X Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 What it needs is for some friendly competition between the two, pardew could whisper to Raziak, Lambert will score more goals than you and if you think he won't than get out on the pitch and prove it! and vice versa
Wes Tender Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 His performance tonight was competitive and wholehearted. He was even chasing one or two lost causes to close down angles for the opposition. Had he been on the pitch when Murty put over that devastating trademark cross from near the byeline, Rasiak would surely have scored as he did against Hearts I agree with one or two others that he could forge a good understanding with a player like Lambert and they could both feed off each other on the way to 20 goals or more each. Perhaps Pardew has placed this idea into his head, that unless somebody comes in for him from a higher division, he could make the journey up a league with us, having lots of fun scoring goals in the process at this level. Maybe Kelvin has had a word with him about the quality of life and job satisfaction sometimes being worth more than just a bit more money.
beatlesaint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Watford have had over 3 months to sign him since the end of last season......they have hardly been beating the door down have they ? And just remember the 2 managers he played under at Watford are no longer at the club. I hope AP persuades him to stay cos if he plays like he did tonight and against Hearts he and Lambert, with Patterson as back up, will be awesome
Saint_Si Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Personally I'd love to see Rasiak stay if he's commited. Lambert and Rasiak would form an awesome partnership upfront, the best we've had in a long, long time. Both would easily score 20+ goals each in this division. Here's hoping.
