brightspark Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 in Pardew Time!!! we still have to take a long look at ourselves and look to beat Bristol Rovers AND Gillingham. This 'scare' is all too much a reality still. I'm not letting these pathetic players off the hook!!! Well done Radhi the first of many

John B Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 At least we are not losing but we need the forward players to be scoring. Lambert has still to prove he is a top goal scorer
S-Clarke Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Well that's better than it could have been. Good to see a ''never say die'' attitude. We wouldn't have done this last year, we would have given up on 80mins. Fact. Still frustrating that we cannot put anything together in open play though, that's something that's really starting to concern me. Still, unbeaten...but not enough wins. Perfect chance in the next 2 home games...!

obelisk Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Another draw then but unbeaten in 5 I think it is now. saintsmike25 Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Happy with that we're still unbeaten and keep battling till the end which is a great quality to have. As long as we keep picking up points like we have been doing, but we HAVE to start putting chances away. Hopefully Pardew will work on patterns of play and get our wingers to get to the byline. Why not have Morgan taking corners? his delivery from the freekick was apparently very good. He can ping 60 yard passes so he'd surely be more use than Lallana at them. Only one point from parity. :]
saints-cris Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 My god, did i just see some sort of character from a saints side? Woah. Under Weststand Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Well I'd just about given that up nice for us to score in Fergie time for a change. Disappointing to be in that situation though, & we really need to address the pace issue in our team. Carlisle seemed to be in behind our defence a number of times with dangerous crosses coming in. We seemed to be crossing from deep, making it easy for there keeper. Will be interesting to see match comments from those who've been about this. But well done Saints for not giving it up & salvaging a point.
St Marco Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Awesome to get a draw, didn't looklike was going to be our day. Reading the match thread it is like i was listening to a different game to most of them. Saints sounded the better team and sounded like we had far more chances then they did. Their goal was described as a pinball goal were it was bouncing around in our 6 yard box etc.. and was just pure luck that it fell to their guy. Did they deserve to be 1-0 up? Based on what we were hearing no. Especially as Mellis should of scored just momments earlier. So sounds typical Saints, created a load of chances but fail to take any, Lambert sounded like he had a load and their keeper made some great saves. We have to start taking these chances or we will just keep seeing more games like this. From the base of it is hard to say if we deserved to win as obviously not there but with 15 to go im sure we all would of taken a point. So maybe a draw was a fair result. It is so nice not having to listen to those "i told you so people" for at least another day or two. Thank fook the team did not give up, unlike some posters on here.... ericofarabia Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 In the end we could only scramble a draw, but I'll tell you what it will seem like a win to those hardy souls who were contemplating the long trip back suffering a loss. St Marco Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 who said I told you so..? am I still allowed to wait before I can say if waigo is any good yet..? your allowed to have whatever opinion you want i have seen 2 of his 3 games and i can't judge him yet, As soon as Holmes and Waigo are match fit and can handle starting we will be a team with more pace. That in my view is our problem. Mellis is fast and sounds like he played well but i would prefer Holmes in there.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 I'd take a point, no matter when we scored. Like Pardew says, its like a cup tie for other teams when they play us! 1point better than 0 points! HTH :smt060

Amazingstoke Saint Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Great to see us scoring and not conceeding at 90+6. Well done the team - slowly building confidence I hope, even though it sounded like a lucky escape. Well done the 700 faithful who made the great trek north. St Marco Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 In a way this could bring the confidence that we need. Let's be fair we over the years have had so many games where the team would just give up after that. The players stuck at it and kept going and that in itself shows improvement. The fans who went also should take some credit, could hear them loads, wish i was there.

My 21-year old son has just phoned as he's exiting the ground. Four of them went up by car at 5.30 this morning. Into injury time I felt really sorry for them having gone all the way up there - only to see them lose. Years ago - I drove me & him up to Tranmere mid-week on that infamous 4-3 Cup evening - so it wasn't exactly new to him! As it happens - those leaving the ground are happy indeed - thanks to Jaidi's late, late leveller. The 4 of them (all aged 20-21) are now on their way down to Blackpool for the night. B&B, a few beers, on the pull, more beer, and then drive home tomorrow. Sounds to me like something out of 'The In-betweeners' ffs! Happy to report that they are much more upbeat - thanks to Jaidi! He can ping 60 yard passes so he'd surely be more use than Lallana at them. Only one point from parity. :] Because he's out of the game if the attack breaks down and the opponents come at us fast on the break. That's why central midfielders and full backs don't take corners, well not if the manager has any sense they don't.
