Window Cleaner Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 Probably starting to hear a bit of transfer talk concerning him. Always f*cks up a player's season. If there's an offer he'll be away-count on it.Same as every other player in our side. We ain't moving on up this season and none of them will be any younger come next August. No player worth his salt wants to languish in League 1 for ever so we'll be losing a few either in January or June

Rebel Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 (edited) Lambert failed to chase the ball today - or defend from the front. He looked lazy - or maybe he was unwelll. If that's the case we should have started with Waigo instead of Lambert and used his pace and commitment. Its the sort of thing we have all seen before when a player has had his head turned by another club. Has he been tapped up ? He's just signed for us for goodness sake. He's been ill as others have mentioned and probably didn't train as effectively this week. Obviously hasn't quite recovered totally.

It's a fair comment, however we need Lamberts presence up front - he takes 2-3 players away from Connolly and Lallana hence giving them more room to score (and they did). But if he was still ill today then why did he start ? for the record I didn't know he was ill last week, but today he seemed totally uninterested in jumping or challenging for the ball. S-Clarke Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 When ever a player has a dip for us, he's not good enough or he's looking for a move. Bizzare reasoning's from some of our fans. TBF i think today he was up against 2 of the best CB's in the league, he found it very hard...but he did win his fair share of headers.

Completely different player to Rasiak. Rasiak is a box striker, tap ins/headers. Doesn't give a damn about the pass...just wants to score for himself. Lambert is much more of an all round forward, he also has 7 assists this season. He's got more to his game that Rasiak by a mile, so it's pointless even comparing them. Greenridge Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 His dip in form seems to have coincided with Connelly coming in and playing upfront alone with Ricky sitting back off him. Lambert played much better when up front alone or as part of a pair. Being ill can't have helped earlier.
Icey Saint Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 i dont think he had a great game and if he's sick then that explains it he certainly out of sorts BUT you just know he'd have stayed onside and won it for us at the death when Waigo was half a yard offside AGAIN !! Turkish Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 Lambert is a fat, useless, lazy waste of space, he's now gone one game without scoring and clearly doesn't want to be here as he did FA today apart from play Llanna in with a great ball and be a constant threat to the Norwich back four, why Pardew picks a player with an average of a goal every 1.5 games is beyond me. If a League two side offer £50 for him we should bite their hand off.

Turkish Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 guessing you haven't seen him play? I've seen him play at most home games and a few away ones too, there is no place in this team for a player that can hold the ball up, bring other players into the game, capable of great vision to play through balls to team mates to score like today and Gills st home for Llannas goal to name just two and also capable of sticking the ball in the net from anywhere with 25 yards of the opposition goal. What we need in 11 headless chickens who have got no idea how to play football but run around alot and charge into tackles, they are proper footballers
The Godfather Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 Lambert got no real service today as we continue hoof the ball upto him. He's not really a target man in way Grant Holt the Norwich striker is. We should play of him with ball to feet where his strength is rather than the long balll against two big centre halfs where he's got little or no chance of winning the ball. Master Bates Posted 22 November, 2009 Share Posted 22 November, 2009 He stands up front at 6ft 3, Rickie, Rickie, He'll take us to the Premier League, Rickie, Rickie, He gets the ball and takes the ****, He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss, And it's Rickie Lambert, Southampton's goal machine. wild-saint Posted 22 November, 2009 Share Posted 22 November, 2009 I have to say there are some real F(cking Numpties that write on this board that wouldnt recognise a proper footballer if they smashed the ball in thier face from 10 yards. Charlie Wayman Posted 22 November, 2009 Share Posted 22 November, 2009 Lambert just didn't seem interested yesterday, I wonder if Conolly is beginning to get to him. We saw from Conolly yesterday, how effective a striker should be and in truth Lambert has never been in that class. It seems to me that as Saints up the tempo and skill of their movement Lambert is being left behind. I fear he doesn't have it in hmi to respond in the way Conolly has either. It's not just Lambert that is poor at the moment, somehow Hammond was all at sea again yesterday as well. Why they chose him as Skip and not Murty is beyond me. Lambert, Hammond and Davis need a run in the reserves to sharpen them up... I know, I know who'd replace them?

Teddy Nutkins Posted 22 November, 2009 Share Posted 22 November, 2009 Sometimes when a centre forward is good in the air, it is always an outlet ball to knock it up to him, and IMO we have been knocking it up to him hoping someone will pick up the loose ball if he wins it.Ok if it works, boring if we do it 20 times a game, especially when he does't win it. When Rickie first came to the club, the first thing i noticed was his ability to control and pass, and bring the midfield into the game.Just lately we have stopped doing that, and everything that goes near him is up around hs ears.Watch the triangles with Connolly, Lallana, Harding, Hammond etc; it is good to watch. I am sure he is struggling with his illness, still, as i don't believe he is a lazy player.Play the ball on the "deck", and we'll get the best out of him. By the way he knows where the goal is we need to get the ball to him in more dangerous areas.
