you could add a few to that list.

Calum Davenport

Imants Bleidilis

Allaedine Yahia (We signed him for £350,000 and he didn't play one game for us)

Jelle Van Damme

to name a a few

Damn..! There are at least another couple of players there I was trying to think of, but couldn't remember. :)

Arias...... The Echo bigged him up as a great player. He could run the 100 metres in 10 seconds supposedly. El Torpedo.

Did he even play a game for us? The only thing on the internet about him on a US MLS forum for San Jose Earthquakes. They nearly signed him in 2008... http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=13914458&postcount=38

I reckon you could also add Mikael Nilsson, Andreas Jakobsson & Tommy Hajto to this list.

I used to rate Jermaine & Pele in the middle of the park. But those 2 come nowhere near the current midfield combo of Hammond & Schneiderlin.

At least Waigo has had a positive start to his Saints career - Over hyped possibly.

I remember watching him play at St. Mary's; think it must have been a reserve game though. He was utterly, utterly terrible! Laughably bad, in fact.

I saw both Jacinto and Arias at St Marys playing reserve matches. I thought Jacinto had promise, but Torpedo had nothing. Jermaine Wright was OK, I suppose, but I couldn't believe how many opposition shots he used to deflect past his own keeper that would have been saved had he not got in the bloody way. I also couldn't believe how ordinary a player Neil McCann was. He seemed to be two seconds behind the match, and if he ever did get a touch, it was a bad one. I think he played OK for Scotland, in comparison. Bradley Wright-Phillips never produced any consistency at all. He seemed to have skill, but he sure didn't have brains. In the end, he was a bit of a waste of space. By comparison, Papa Waigo has skill, pace [too much it often appears] and, I think, a poaching ability which has yet to fully materialise. In the limited amount of times I've seen Papa Waigo, for me he's already a far bigger asset than the other players in the poll. Yet they were all hyped as something special. He's the first one who may turn out be so.

Yeah, I could have chosen other players, but I didn't. And it was only meant for fun anyway.

Papa does have a touch of class about him, and I rate him more than I rate Antonio. He has that cheeky touch about him that can take the ball away from opponents, and his pace goes without saying. Granted he gets a few offsides, but he also weighs in with a few goals. He'd me my right midfielder of choice in the current team, I thought he was good tonight.

Of that list above, which is most peculiar, I would rate Papa as the best in terms of quality, although Wright did give his all for this club in any position that was asked of him.

If this is meant to be a list of bad players there are a lot worse than the options above.

It doesn't seem to be a list of reserves either.

Or a list of poor foreigners.

Or a list of unpopular players.

So other than being a list of slightly quirky Saints players, what is the point of this again ?

Benji hit the nail on the head with Almeida anyway, poor kid had 20 mins of Thierry Henry on his debut, ouch.

For the record, Kleber Chala has since won the Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the Champions' League. Didn't get a look in for Saints though... Fernandes, Telfer and Griffit all ahead of him in the depth chart.
