Colchester - Build Up

Arizona

Recommended Posts

I'd go with that selection too, except if fully match fit I'd keep Perry in the squad. He had a blinder yesterday. Who knows if his old legs could handle 2 games in 3 days though... Would definitely start Waigo instead of Antonio, Waigo made a massive difference coming on on Saturday.

I have a funny feeling it will be 2-2. I'd like to be proved wrong though and grab 3 points daaannn in Essix.

Bart

Thomas Trotman Jaidi Harding

James Hammond Morgan Lallana

Lambert Waigo

James had a good game yesterday but strikes me more as an attacking player and I really would like to see waigo given more time upfront.

This seems good to me, I would assume connolly will be rested and papa actually has a pretty impressive scoring record considering he's not had that many starts up front, so id be confident having him up there. Altho i wouldnt be surprised if James was at right back and antonio on the right midfield.

Oh do give over, Thomas will not start at RB whilst James (or Murty) is available to play there. Connolly and Lambert in attack as usual and Lallana is out,Papa to take his place, Wotton in midfield

James was available last week and who played at right back?...

Wayne Thomas. And he did a pretty good job of it too I reckon.

Was he just rested yesterday then?

Was rested, and makes complete sense too. Colchester ahve a big powerful forward and it makes sense or him to be fresh for that game. Perry and Trotman were always going to be good enough to do a job y/day

hope it pays off tomorrow!

IMO the team will be -

Bart

James - Jaidi - Perry - Harding

Antonio - Hammond - Morgan - Mills

Papa - Lambert

Subs - Davis, Goborn, Thomas, Mellis, Patterson, Wotton, Connolly

Lallana has a dead leg - if we were playing on Tuesday/Wednesday then he'd still be 50/50 , he hasn't got enough recovery time unfortunately. He'll be out for sure imo.

the left side is still an issue if Lallana is missing though, i've put Mills in there as he's the obvious option...

Pardew said he was doubtful, that means he's 75% out.Ever had a dead leg?

Yup. Give it a rub and he'll be fine. Well, not you otherwise he might complain about Sexual assault, but he'll be fine to play.

Did Pardew say he was '75% out?' Or did you just make that up ;)

Bringing a football virgin tomorrow along with my father in law who lives in Colchester.

Could care less who plays as long as we perform and tke them to the cleaners. Hammond will be well up for it - and I fancy Rickie may chip in with a couple tomorrow too.

It's long drive back tomorrow at least 4-hours - sure it'll be worth it though!

Guess it will either have to be Mills or Play Papa on the left, Antonio on the right and Connolly up front.

Not many virgins in Colchester though; They had their annual meeting a while back, but it rained and they held it in a telephone box.

I'm not sure that AP has all that much time for him. This will be a hard nervy game.I think we'll start out with a defensive formation.

I don't think he has much time for him either, but it is still an option. Mellis had one of his better games when he played against Tranmere was it? He should have had a goal and started and continued a marvellous move. Pardew knows what he is doing though, we'll see come 3pm tomorrow.

I think starting out with a defensive formation will be wise, they'll com eat us and try to win the game in the first half. Once we've contained them, we can then look to sneak a winning goal on the break.

1 -0 to the Saints !

This is a really interesting test for us.

Colchester have an even tighter home defence than Leeds, and Leeds frustrated our attempts to get near their goalmouth.

Colchester: P22 W8 D1 L1 F18 A7

So should we play for a rugged draw and hope to get them on the break? Probably imo. If Adam is out I would play Mills too, with Antonio to start and bring Papa on at half time. It seems to work best that way.

Mills needs matches to fulfil his potential, so this could be his opportunity. A pity that Lee Holmes hasn't returned to his best since injury.

Personally i think this is the next hardest game to leeds. They are direct and physical. I will be glad if we get a point. Anything else is a bonus

Leeds are simply a cut above everyone else in League 1. Despite the rubbish quoted from various sources suggesting that we matched them toe to toe they absolutely murdered us last week.

Colchester are a good side, but i'll be very disapointed if we don't go there and take the game to them.

Second half against Exeter we took our foot of the gas in preparation for this game so i can't see us being as knackered as we could have been.

I expect a win.

2-1.

Up the Saints.
