Exeter build up...

How do you think Saints will line up, 4-4-2 or 4-5-1?

Personally for 4-4-2 I'd go for

Davis

Ostemobor Fonte Seaborne Harding

Antonio James Schneiderlin Lallana

Waigo Lambert

or 4-5-1

Davis

Ostemobor Fonte Seaborne Harding

Waigo Schneiderlin James Puncheon Lallana

Lambert....

It'll probably bear no resemblance to the starting XI but there we are...

You could say the same for the vast majority of the games this season unfortunately.

The thing is in most of our games there has been somewhere we are weak (James at RB, Wotton in CM being the main two).

Looking at that team EVERYONE is up to standard. They just have to perform like it.

Good point, is is very hard to pick the weak link in that team.

Davis

Thomas Fonte Seaborne Harding

Lallana James Schneiderlin Puncheon

or 4-5-1:

Waigo Schneiderlin James Lallana Puncheon

Lambert....

Hammond to come in for James as soon as fit.

Jaidi to play when not being paced or resting in place of Seaborne.

I think we'll start 4-5-1 and it wouldn't surprise me if Waigo is back on the bench and Barnard starts with Lambert on the bench. Lambert is going to have to play in both cup games next week so give him a breather on Saturday. Hope Lallana is back and fit but Puncheon should be a decent replacement if not. Wooton, Schneiderlin and James, if he's OK in centre mid should be solid and creative enough. Defence as per everyone else's suggestion - Otsemobor, Fonte, Seabourne and Harding.

We'll win there. I don't know why I'm so confident, but with Punch in the side making his debut, I think we'll be too strong for them.

Interesting to see how Seaborne fares on his debut, hope he does well to shut the moaning Exeter fans up about his ability.

2-0 to us, with a much better performance than of late.

Very interested to see which team AP puts out in light of the JPT & FAC games coming up. I bet he plays Lambert & Barnard up front though & Puncheon starts as he cant play in either.

Really looking forward to it tomorrow, but not the 3+ hour drive to get there!

it's only 100 miles 2 1/2 max

It was interesting to see how seaborne did on his debut. We drew 1-1 with millwall.

I hope the team is

Davis

Otsemebor Jaidi Fonte Harding

Antonio Morgan James Puncheon Lallana

Barnard

Jaidi is better at CB, especially away from home and with it being Seabourne's old club. Barnard played up top on his own for Southend I believe and got himself 15+ goals, so give Rickie a rest and let Lee have a go.

Who? ;)

Also Thomas won't start ahead of Otsemobor nor will Lallana be upfront. Watching them train yesterday gives a good idea as to who will start.

He's a new signing. Way better than Seaborne apparently.

Anyway, that's just what I'd play. Rest Ricky for the two upcoming cup games.

I thought it might be good to use jaidi tomorrow as well, but fact is we need him for next 2 games, so likely that he will be rested tomorrow, because Seaborne isn't available for next 2.

As I live less than 5 minutes walk from 'the Park' and a semi-regular spectator at games, i'm just too excited about this game!

Davis

Otsemobor Fonte Jaidi Harding

James

Morgan Lallana

Waigo Lambert Puncheon

Bart, Seabourne, Thomas, Wotton, Holmes, Antonio, Barnard

Having seen exeter frequently, i can confidently say the above team really really should get a good result 2moro, but i suppose its not quite that straightforward.

Exeter are a good footballing side, with good movement up front and crisp, on the deck passing. They like to knock it into the channels for the forwards to pick up, so our full backs are going to need to have a solid display. Reasonably fragile at the back however, and they dont have the biggest of presences in the midfield, so a 4-3-3/4-5-1 formation should be effective.

I suspect the starting line up will be

Davis

Otsemobor - Fonte - Seaborne - Harding

Antonio - Schneiderlin - Puncheon - Lallana

Lambert - Barnard

That's the line up I would like to see with at least James, Papa and one of Jaidi/Perry/Thomas on the bench for the following reasons:

Will Seaborne cope with any animosity and /or pressure of playing in front of his recent supporters?

Will Puncheon live up to the expectation of playing in a central role?

Will Barnard be able to make an impact with Punchoen and Lallana back and Wotton dropped and as a result a better service from midfield?

Not going to the game but really looking forward to listening to the commentary on Solent. Should be a good test and a decent chance for the team to gel and new signings to shine in time for greater challenges ahead.

Just received an email from the club stating that the travel club pick-up points have changed...

1045hrs - Winchester

1100hrs - Eastleigh

1130hrs - St marys

1100hrs seems very tight!

Seems a bit a5se about face. I thought they would go M3, A34, A303. 4 hours to get to Exeter is plenty even in worse case scenario on that route as it's only about 110 miles from the 34/303 junction - a 2hr30m drive at most even in a coach.

If They are going A35 then 4 hours would seem a bit tight I agree.

Can't see Pardew playing Puncheon in the middle of a four.

I'd play :

--------------- Davis

Ostemebor - Fonte - Jaidi - Harding

-------- James - Schneiderlin

Antonio ----- Puncheon --- Lallana

-------------- Lambert

If he doesn't play him in a middle of a four then I fear he hasn't really addressed our weakness / need for another Hammondesque player. I hope he plays him centrally in a 4 man midfield whilst appreciating your view as I would like to know if he is capable of performing that role in Hammonds continued absence and no real desire to see Wotton or James pair up with Morgan.

Going to be an intriguing game with hopefully the right result but given our last two games I fear another draw is on the cards.

Getting to the A31/A35 junction in Dorchester can be done in just over an hour 15 on a good day, but the 35 can be a right pig

The A303/A30 run has a few stretches of single carriageway which can be slow.

I'd rather get there in plenty of time, rather than cutting it fine.

If they are picking Winchester up first then it seems you are going A35? Good luck!

The A303 is fine outside the summer months and major holdays and you rarely get badly held up even through the Stonehenge / Winterborne section.

One final note I will be really pleased when the Pompey game is out of the way and they are settled albeit temporarily as a club with this new owner. Why? Here we are late on the eve of a massive and interesting league game and yet the build up thread has caused barely a ripple on this forum. Apathy or stupidity, I can't work it out but I know where our focus of attention should be.

I would go with:

--------------Kelvin-----------------

JO-----Fonte-------Seabourne------Harding

Antonio----James----Morgan-----Puncheon

----------Waigo------Barnard-------------

Subs: Bart, Thomas, Perry, Mills, Wotton, Lallana, Lambert

From what i've seem of Ostemobor so far i'd have Thomas in ahead of him if James is in Midfield.

Have I missed something, why do so many think that Lambert should be or will be rested today? He has had a week off, why does he need a rest, agreed he looked out of sorts during January at times, probably result of the virus or whatever he had earlier. No sane manager would "rest" the league's top scorer before an important match that could define the rest of our season. I can understand resting Jaidi because he just isn't up to 3 games in a week and we have cover, but Rickie, no way.

I'd like to see...

-------------Davis---------------

Semi--S'bourne--Fonte----Harding

Waigo--Morgan--James--Puncheon

-------Barnard---Lallana----------

Subs: Bart, Thomas, Jaidi, Wotton, Holmes, Antonio, Lambert

I know we won't line up like that, but I think we'll get the 3 points with a team like that. I'll be disappointed with anything less than 3 points today really, although I suspect that a Leeds style slip-up could be on the cards. Hope not though! :D

COYR!
