And by the looks of it they have had enough of the merry mong over there as well.

Jesus it doesn't stop does it, always an expert until someone proves him wrong, and then he resorts to name calling.

Why oh why was he pandered to on this site for so long ?? What is it about him that the admins find 'cool' ??

So then chaps your happy with the embarrassing management of Cortese over the last 18 months ? Luckily using Markus's money and Pardew we have a team that can get us out of the league despite Clotese bumbling around.

A great win last night and i can say that and have an opinion on Cortese mismanagement.

Hardly embarrassing is it ??

A decent team, staplewood development in the offing, a JPT trophy (although i would rather AP concentrated on the league) and a great, committed and up and coming manager at the helm.

How exactly has it been embarrassing ? I mean, we are going forwards aren't we ?? Or would you rather have the wonderful days of Crouch, Lowe and Wilde ??

Nicole has made a lot of gaffes and is generally not very likeable, and when he does something that affects me i.e the ticket tax i'll moan like ****, but at the end of the day he made the right decision in sacking Pardew and he made the right decision in appointing Adkins. I really think we're on the up now so I can turn a blind eye to the bad things because winning games and getting back where we belong is what is really important.

where is your "cortese out" campaign if he is so "embarrassing"..

I recckon you could rustle up about 15 saints fans...go on, do it

Nobody is saying cortese out they have been pointing out that idiots like you who thinks he walks on water are totally wrong.

Cortese personally has cost the club alot of money in compensation and his head must be on the block unless we are promoted automatically.

His obnoxious character means its only a matter of time before he blowes another fuse.

Mind you he is running out of people know that hes kicked them all out at great cost.

I just hope the people who look after Markus Liebherrs estate are fully aware of the real facts and not bull**** from a london pr mug called david bick.

Had Cortese not introduced Markus to us then we would never have had his money in the first place.

No Cortese = No Leibherr family. Be careful what you wish for.

Jesus, is it the school holidays i am struggling even to understand this post ??

Nobody is saying he is walking on water but only at Southampton do we have fans that so forcibly try to undermine the guidance of the chairman, perhaps it is because of what we are used to ?? I don't know.

What compensation ?? For Pardew ? He is hardly the first chairman to sack a manager now is he FFS, and tbf it seems to have had the desired effect as we are now playing winning, attractive football and seem to have the players on our side. Not to menion strengthening the areas we clearly lacked for a long time particularly midfield.

So what exactly has he done that has been so catastrophic ? That has put the club back ?? He hasn't, and what exactly is he going to do if he blows a fuse ??

How do you know he is 'such an obnoxious character ?'

I don't agree with his PR policy, nor did i really agree with how he dealt with the media, but all i can see is our club is going in the right direction for once, and if that involves having a hard nosed figurehead that may upset you precious little darlings as he doesn't speak of everything he does then so be it. Does every chairmen in football openly reveal every decision ?? No.

Unfortunately for every one of us who thinks Cortese walks on water there are those of you who believe he is the devil incarnate.

You want to move on mate. Your unnatuarl anti-Cortese obsession is becoming a bore.

NC had to make the right decision even though it was a hard decision, but best for the club.

Pity Lowe didn't have the guts to make the right decision in 2004 and appoint Hoddle, but instead pandered to the vocal minority !

On the day that ML/NC purchased the club the hardcopy version of the Echo (not online) said that another group ("Worldwide Financial Services") were interested in buying the club i.e.

They were trying desperately to contact Fry last night to see if anything they could do to stay in the hunt to take over at St Mary's. Having splashed out vast amounts in legal fee the group are desperate to complete a deal themselves. The worldwide financial services group last week enlisted the help of former FL chairman Keith Harris to aid them.

.....

Lawyers and representatives of the group have been left incredulous at the events of the past few days.

.....

The Echo understands the group could even be prepared to write to the Football League to complain if Liebherr's takeover goes through.

Did we ever find out who this group was ?

The 2 rumours I heard at the time were; (1) the Dark Lord using loans to buy the club which would just replace our £2M a year Mortgage with a £2M a year Loan repayment; and (2) the other group being something to do with a "Waterfront Development" who were going to put Crouch's mob in charge of the Football Club. (As I said these were only rumours I heard).

I only ask because IMO there has been an anti-NC/ML "undertone" from day 1 from a certain section of people and I was wondering whether this group chose NOT to write to the Football League but continue their campaign another way ??

The football club despite the view that it belongs to the fans is a private business. It supplies a football team for the Saints fans to watch. Like any business you either buy the product or you don't. The Liebherrs have appointed Nicola Cortese to run the club and given him a free hand. He has employed a talented manager who is doing well with someone elses team and is going to be allowed to strengthen in due course. As long as one doesn't think the club owes them anything, living with the Cortese style is no problem. I personally think the club is doing Ok. Cortese isn't going to run the club like a democracy, he might ask for a few opinions but he does his own thing. Some of the things he has done might have been more acceptable to those concerned if they had been done more sensitively, however that's not the way he does things.

I'm a football fan first and last. I go to SMS to watch the football and want to see the team do well. As long as they do and Cortese keeps supporting the manager I can live with the peripherals.

Personally I'm ecstatic, smears.

A very good 18 months in my opinion. The club is run without debt in a slick and professional manner. Now we also have a slick and professional manager too. Pardew might have had a decent eye for a player, but seemingly Adkins has the greater ability to get the best out of them and certainly in his short time here, there have been games that have been far more entertaining than most under Pardew.

Some peoples' noses have been put out of joint by management decisions that have probably been taken for very good reasons, obviously yours and your mate leftback's and a few others, but the vast majority seem to be very content with the progress that has been made. Money has been spent on the training ground with the express policy of developing a home-grown crop of talented youngsters and we no longer have a need to sell them on as soon as they attract the attention of the glory teams. There is ambition to either improve the stadium or to relocate. Apart from one or two whingers, most are satisfied that the club is in good hands and moving steadily in an upward direction after years of mismanagement by those with bigger egos than wallets.

Long may it continue.

Interesting. Some observations.

The club had it's bank overdraft limit withdrawn unexpectedly.

Within days of the club going into admin, the Council were making noises about buying the stadium and previous names associated with previous (not RL) shareholders were making noises about making a bid (the figure I recall was around 4million to take the club forwards)

Real bids arrived on Frys' desk. Noises continued.

Pinnacle arrived in exclusivity and vanished the day after a conference call was held with serious names in football

Pinnacle messed up, Marcus arrived and "noises were heard again"

We then have regular attacks of noise coming in from leftfield and beyond.

I have a simple response - GO AWAY YOU PETTY LITTLE POWER HUNGRY FOOLS

I've said it before NC is a ****, but he is OUR ****. Others have said similar. He is focused on winning and on success, IF he takes us to the Champions League he will no doubt pocket enough money to never have to work again. Personally - after the absolute fecking unmitigated disaster that the noises and the others and the Dark Lord made - I don't fecking care. For the first time in ages I have a winning team.

Noisemakers are used by Submarines - would love to be able to tie the muppets making it around us to the outside of TDD's bucket when it next goes down

For all the ******** posted on here it was always patently obvious to me that the club was going to go into Admin and the shareholders lose the lot. I think a lot of the characters just used this place to influence the share price. If you remember it rose dramatically on the back of some of the nonsense rumours. Those who didn't get out when they had this golden chance (ridiculously over priced sp) only have themselves to blame.

Oh

I have a lot of sympathy for Leon what ever happened it always seemed he was trying his best for the club . It may have not worked out but it never felt like he was doing anything for personal gain unlike all the others who were involved in our descent into the sh it pit.

I like it that we can actually discuss how our club is being run. Always good to ask questions rather than remaining blissfully ignorant.

I actually think Cortese is doing a decent job, especially with all the recent turmoil after Markus's death. If he got himself a decent PR officer then maybe there would be less people questioning Nicole.

I think even LC's harshest critic would agree that his intentions towards the club were unquestionable (but as Phil suggests good intentions and being a fan are not a recipe for success).

God this is tedious. Cortese hasn't actually said or done anything obviously good or bad for at least a month, so can we just get on with winning matches for a bit and save the pointless arguing for when he actually might have done something ?

Same principle applies to Dalek. At the point when Hoddle is actually linked with a job in English football again your angle might be almost slightly remotely tenuous to a discussion. Until then... guh. And as for raking over the pre-admin stuff, what's up with everyone ? Has the Gareth Bale sell-on clause thing got everyone narky again ? It's hardly new is it ?

It bugs me when people think this, because it's complete bullsh*t. It's hardly as is Pardew rested players from the League campaign to play Exeter in the JPT. Basically we just kept winning and didn't get knocked out. What did you want him to do, forfeit a JPT game to get us knocked out?

Hardly a disaster either, especially when you consider 8 of those 10 games were away from home and as Torres said, we played some of the toughest teams in the League. I'd say losing at home to Brighton was the only shocker in that lot.

We From the away games we W2 D4 L2 (1.25 points per game). That really isn't all that different from our away form over the course of the whole season, W8 D9 L6 (1.43 points per game). Especially when you consider we had trips to the 4 best teams in the league and Brighton were unbeaten in 8 when we went there.

Not having a go GITR - but both of those people would say were poor results whereas they weren't. Brentford had a superb record at home and got better results there against Norwich, Millwall and Leeds from memory than they did against us. Millwall was a rubbish result because we conceded a late sloppy goal but as it turns out, we should really have been pleased with a point!

Agreed there were a number of rubbish results last season but that was more to do with Pardews tactics of playing too narrow than being after a cup game. If players cant manage 2 games in a week they should bother!!

Agree totally. Like has been pointed out, 8 of those games were played away from home. The notion that a draw away from home against any club in the division is a "poor" result is ridiculous. There are of course some very winnable away games, but despite what many on here would suggest I would never overly criticise an away draw.
