I have to disagree, what we need is a scout regardless of status that knows the Championship AND the Premier League. A load of decent League Oners will not work in the Prem.

 

We need people in our club who can attract the right players to a) get us promoted come May 2011; b) help us compete for top 6 come May 2012; and c) develop and motivate the players we have.

 

Not sure where Gordon Watson fits in there.....as much as I love what he did for Saints.

I don't remember ever seeing an article that Bill Green had been hired. The only mention of him ever on the OS was on the huge staff list. Why does the club need to announce him leaving to goto Leicester City? Most fans wouldn't have a clue he was even at Saints in the first place!

Whatever else this is friggin outrageous. As far as one can tell from the outside he has been the one constant that has held the Stamford Bridge thugs together whilst the Russain Czar has played two-step with half the infamous coaches of Europe and beyond. Keeping the likes of Terry, Lampard & Cole in check and on the straight and narrow must be worth his job alone! It's not as 'though they've been starved of success either so what's he getting blamed for?

 

As for Saints - er, he could come in as Director of Football or even as assistant manager just to keep Adders up to snuff and maybe teach the new rookie some of the old upper division tricks which we are gong to need a plenty in the Premiership in two years time.

If Cortese wanted an Italian manager we would have done it when Pardew was sacked. Zola was out of a job and tbh, the fans would have been as much in favour of him being appointed as they were of Adkins.

Why Italian ? How do those mentioned by you rate as top class managers ?

 

Why would a chairman of any company inform its other employees or indeed its customers that an appointment was a mistake and that employee 'sucks', length of employment will tell you all you need to know !

 

Who is this 'WE' you speak of in relation to 'things going forward' ?

 

NC has been charged with running the club and appointing key management staff he will be judged by the owners on our success, bring that success and he can have an ego the size of everest for all I care.

tbf it wouldn't be hard to spot RL as a good signing for a league 1 club looking for a striker. You'd just have to look at the players with most goals table.

Chief scout for Nigel Pearson at Leicester. Wilkins hasn't been a scout for anyone and as for knowing the championship in the last two years I don't think so, not if he was doing his job properly at Chelsea. Adkins knows the bottom leagues well and the last thing we need is an overpaid underachiever.

Rickie Lambert was joint top scorer in the league and Rovers player of the season 08/09 when he signed for Saints and had attracted a lot of media attention for getting 2 hat tricks against Hereford (3) and Southend . I think Saints might have been tracking him anyway ;~)
