Conspiracists and Sabateurs?

Offshooting from the Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain thread where a curious message was posted on the Echo website.

As we are all giving our views this is what I have been told.

.

When Alex signed his 3 year contract in August certain "releases clauses" were put in i.e. IF a PL club comes in for him and offers £10M package with at least £5m up front he could SPEAK to them. Therefore Nigel and the Club cannot say "he will not leave in January" because these releases clauses put it is out of their hands.

.

As it stands at the moment the Club WANT HIM to STAY, HE WANTS TO STAY through THIS Transfer Window but that somebody behind the scenes is causing trouble.

.

I am not convinced this is other clubs trying to "unsettle the player" although they would love to get the player on the cheap (alot less than the release clauses).

What I am led to believe is that the group behind the scenes who have been trying to get the Liebherr's family out of the club are the group who are "driving this story".

.

Until recently they had somebody in the club who knew about the "releases clauses" in Alex's contract and have been leaking various bits to the London media in an attempt to make this deal happen.

.

At the end of the day this group cannot afford to buy a CC club only a L1 club and therefore are hoping that if Saints fail to go up this season that the Liebherr family will sell up and they can take over.

.

I will repeat what I have told; the Club/Nigel want Alex to stay, the player wants to be here on the 1st Feb but the "dark forces behind the scenes" are causing mischief again in an attempt to use this as a "stick to beat Nicola with".

Who the hell would this be? Rumours like this have been persisting now for a while in various guises. Do they seriously expect there to be a welcoming embracing fanbase if they were ever in a position to take over?

Or is this just a complete load of hogwash?

Perhaps many of those who lost money when the club went down the pan are still avid for retribution.

It's still a big club that in theory could be had for relatively little money.I should well think the "inside man" in this case means David Jones and we all know where that alley ends.

He has left, he is at Plymouth now.

I would have thought it was more likely to be Crouch than Lowe. Surely even Lowe knows it's over as far as the fan base are concerned, there is no way he could come back. Personally I think the whole thing is BS, the money involved is way out of either Lowe or Crouch's league. We've moved on to a higher plain finacially, if they wanted to buy in again, it was pre ML not after.

I doubt it would be Crouch. He always struck me as a fan who wanted the club to thrive and took control when he felt he could offer something. He would surely recognise that under Cortese/The Liebherr family we have better backing then many clubs could ever dream of.

right he has left, which makes "until recently" all the more specific. Plymouth is just a temporary thing, unless the "group" fancy their chances down there. Not in the same league as Saints though.

One hell of a lot cheaper though.... albeit with far more debt.

Oh, a Conspiracy Theory. There is a surprise.

I copped some flack on this before, and no it isn't Lowe or Fialka, and I would think it is a pretty safe bet that NC knows who how and why and where any skeletons are buried.

He has implied before that there are trouble makers and people thought he was having a dig at MLT. It ain't him either.

Fact is NC has a knack of upsetting anyone who doesn't like the seating arrangements on the bus so there are always new outcast passengers for a horse drawn cart to collect as it trundles along behind

this is the thing, we have no debt, all the past troubles have been washed away. We still have our academy and an excellent first team, worth more money than the club would cost to re-acquire.If there's any floating and dissent in what must be multiple owners' minds about the club then now is an excellent time to try to drive it on.

I think they are. I'm sure we played them at the start of the season.

Lawrie?

Crouch?

Skates?

Dave Jones?

Stu Romsey Saint?

Nick Illingsworth?

Chorely & Lowe coalition?

Go Wilde?

We dont need or want change, it would be a disaster. Any of the above would be a disaster.

Lets stick with the Leibherrs and Cortese, they know what they are doing, have immpeccable global business reputations and contacts to boot. Nothing has emerged to suggest otherwise, and it would have by now (look at the skates, look at Mickey Fialka).

Cortese has a vision and wants to play it out at St.Marys, fortunately this vision fits with our wildest dreams, so im gonna back him.

Sounds like complete crap, doesn't even make any sense.

How can selling a 17 year-old for 10 million quid make the owners want to pack their bags and **** off, especially as the entire club cost £15mill in the first place.

Fans would "force them out" as it would show we have no ambition and no real money behind us.

(not my views)

Jeese!! our fans ffs! Someone as yet un-named, posts something in our local rag, and straight away, Saints fans take it as an absolute fact, and start naming names as to who they think it is. Are we Tottenham in disguise?

Well, considering that Nicola himself had said there are some 'parties' at work who are trying to undermine the club I would say this rumour cropping up has a familiar feel to it.

We can be sure that neither Cortese nor Adkins are the source of the newspaper frenzy because that is not how they do business, I am pretty sure that connections of OAC are not responsible for it, Wenger has indicated that no approaches have been made so he is not the source but it still keeps popping up. It is speculation, but you would have to conclude that someone is feeding it and they do not necessarily have the club's best interests at heart. Reasons? - revenge of some sort because they are certainly not capable of driving the Leibhers and NC out.

Or maybe it is just bull made up by journos to fill column inches. No sources, just a good old fashioned punt.

I would have thought it was really obvious who is behind it.The same people Cortese hinted at in the BBC interview.Certain people who were affiliated with the club in the past who lost out financially when the Liebherr family took over.

It has always been in thier interest for the Liebherr era to fail so the can come in and take over on the cheap and set themselves up as heroes to the more gullible fans.

The scallywag is still able to read the forum, just cannot post. He is on most days.

If he's logged in, he won't be able to read anything (as he's in the "Banned" usergroup). Also, at the moment, the main board is registered users and subscribers only, so he wouldn't be able to read the main board as a guest either.

Real shame he got banned. It made the forum so much more interesting.

This has come about because of what Cortese said in his last interview. He mentioned that there was a group who were intent on disrupting things and he heavily hinted at it being those that were driven out of the club that previous had access that were there only to line there pockets and leak bits to the media. I dont think any of which would have been there in August when Oxo signed his contract.

These people exist, but not the master planners made out to be. If you look at the Walter Mittys popping up when the club is for sale, this happens to a similar degree at different levels. Someone providing insurance cover for example may also have his ears open and looking for any little bit of information that can give him an edge. If he then approaches someone with with details of what's in the players contract, some may feel this could be useful and can result in a pay out of some kind. Some just seem to do it for convoluted personal reasons, often taking a couple of random bits, putting them together and coming up with what ever suits them.

I can understand Cortese believing there is some sort of master conspiracy here, especially with the possible damage the recent rumour regarding selling the club could have with possible sponsorship. But they are just small time chancers who tend to flock together and associate with a well known figure that has been attached to the club in the past. I don't expect Cortese has come across the like of these before and assumes there is something more sinister and planned behind it all. It would not surprise me if some of these things are started deliberately as a wind up.
