Brighton Doing Us A Favour On Saturday Beating Huddersfield...!?!

I was there on Saturday at the Brighton game which was Good in the end as we won even though it was a last minute winner and at the game on Monday v Hartlepool which was also another Good win! But for once I hope that Brighton do us a favour and help us seal promotion by beating Huddersfield and barring that we win and don't screw up because otherwise Huddersfield will be back in the driving seat and be 3 points or a point ahead of us, but I think because we have a superior GD to Huddersfield I think we will hold on and keep our nerve and go up coming 2nd and getting the automatic place so Come On Brighton Please Win!!!

Thanks!

COYR :D!!

I know people are saying that its the last game at the Withdean and all that but Poyet seems such a bitter man that he will probably field a weak team and tell his players to take it easy, allowing a Huddersfield win.

This. Anyone got the Football League's email address for post match complaints? What's the points penalty for fielding a weakened team?

I still think they'll want to win. They want to get as close to 100 points as possible and it's their last game at the Withdean. I can't see them just lying down. Although, I wouldn't be at all surprised by any result in this game.

I think the Brighton team are on their hols already.Look at their defending at their last game.I also think they will use this game to try a few fringe players.

Expect a determined Huddersfield team to try and win at any cost, then i think its only going to end one way and thats with Brighton losing.

I will be putting a bet on brighton losing. Its a no brainer. They dont want us in the championship with them and they will want to get at us for saturday. Huddersfield will be less of a threat to them if they go up with them as they can be truly shocking at times.

Weakened side from Brighton who will be thinking of the holidays in paradise they are about to go on and 3-0 to huddersfield.

Surely Brighton will need to win their last two games if they are to get 100 points? I'm clinging on to that as a reason why they'll want to win.

Is that really much of a big deal to them? surely their opposition next season is even more of a consideration than that

Indeed. I can't see Brighton being that fussed about reaching an arbitrary number of points now that they've won the title.

If Brighton lose or draw with Huddersfield. It would mean that they haven't beaten either us or Huddersfield this season. If I was a Brighton player I would like to make a point of proving that they are the best team in the league by beating at least one of the challengers nearest to them.

I think they'll go for the win, but personally I think it shouldn't matter. If we consider ourselves good enough we should be capable of winning all three games.

Today's hard copy of the Echo (tried to find this on the web site but cannot?) has two articles.

Noone telling how much they (including the bitter man) wanted to beat us.

The bitter man now trotting out the excuse 'what with the trophy being presented and the last game at the Withdean it's going to be hard to focus my players on the game'.

I'd laugh myself silly if they laid down against Huddersfield and then we ended up catching them because of Plymouth not making it to the end of the season, although that'd be tempered by feeling terrible for Plymouth.

Although Plymouth will make the end of the season. The Football League just isn't going to expunge a whole season's results for 1 day and 1 game.

If anything drastic happens on 6/5 the result on the Saturday will be a simple win by forfait for their opponents. They are not going to recalculate everything for 1 game, if there was any likelyhood of that then Brighton wouldn't be getting the trophy on Saturday now would they.

That suggests the game will be thrown. Well done Poyet, dignified as usual! I can see it now, and am tempted to make a bet on udders getting a victory.

The more they pull stunts like this the more i find my contempt growing for the little bummers, and the more I want to see them struggle next season.

The stadium will be a poisoned chalice for them next season, as players will have top class facilities to prepare (and coaches) for matches compared to secondary school facilities provided at the withdean running track. The supporters will be able to actually support, rain or shine, their team rather than being stuck half a mile from the pitch!

They will have the problem our players have mentioned recently - other teams upping their game at SMS

It annoys me that a club so insignificant as brighton has been on my radar this season.
