I'm big enough to stand up and be counted as one of the people who were not impressed by Adkins' appointment. Results speak for themselves, he's proved the doubters wrong and he's done a great job this year. I very much hope that he continues to deliver next year when the challenge will be that much greater, as I would love to see a bit of stability at this club. I just hope that, if we do have a slightly stuttering start, or even (god forbid) don't win the league at a canter, we have a bit of patience and stick with Adkins and trust him over at the very least the whole of next season. He has earned that much.

After all, we're all on the bus, we're here to win a game of football, and all that other ********.

Very underwhelmed with his appointment but he has jone a fantastic job. I don't remember watching a saints side and feeling so confident of the end result. His situation experience has proven invaluable in the last few weeks, I really hope he can go on and continue what he has started next season.

Tonight I hope he, the players and staff enjoy a few drinks and reflect on what they have achieved together. Absolutely fantastic.

Think he may have something to say about that as most of them have to play an exhibition game tomorrow

Well done Nigel for doing what you were bought in to do. Your real test will be next season and I think you will know that. After this season you will have everyone on your side

how was any part of this season not a real test then..?

I think the point is that we expected promotion this season after the foundation was laid last season. It will be harder next year and Adkins and the team will be expected to take a step up.

How can we have anything but total belief in the man. He has instilled a confidence in the team that has been missing for ages. We have a very secure future with Nigel and his team at the helm. I for one can't wait for next season.

IN NIGEL WE TRUST.

Our fondations where actually pretty rocky when he came in... ML's passing, awful start, lambert off form and unfit, AP's mysterious sacking etc. It could have easily gone tits up this year but he not only got us up he did it in amazing style. Next season is next season... For now he deserves our thanks and appreciation full stop

Since we lost to Brentford before Xmas P27 W20 D4 L3 including last nine at home in a row. When it comes to games of football, everyone in the building is on the bus & rowing in the same direction, and you can't ask for more than that. Top, top man.

I think the foundations have already been set for next season. We have players plenty good enough to play in the CCC and we have had plenty of time together as a team, so the foundations are there. We just need to add some quality in key places, remove some players who clearly wont stand a chance with us and, most importantly, get a really good pre-season under our belts.

In the thread discussing NA's appointment I voted 'Undecided'. I've now decided... he is the right man for us. He is the right man for modern football in general, combining intelligence, sport science and motivational skills really well. We're lucky to have him, regardless of how amazed and impressed you are buy his name and history.

I also hope, next season, some people learn his name. It's Adkins, not Atkins... that's a diet.

I think he has done an amazing job. It took a bit of time to sort things out and create his team, but since then the results have been incredible. Ten games ago we were worrying whether we'd make the playoffs, we had one of the hardest run-ins possible and lost one away to Rochdale. (2 points and the best goal difference in the division and one of the best home stats in all leagues tells its own story. We have been consistently top of the number of shots for some weeks.

I salute all of you, I only wish my health allowed me to get to watch Saints. I can still remember going mad during our last two promotions when I was a young man. I wish I could have been there but health problems prevented that, but a hopefully successful treatment on my prostate earlier this week, and the fact that next season I hope to be closer and will get to see a few home games again. I'm also planning to retire back to God's own county; so please keep up the good work, and take Saints back where we belong!!

He wasn't the big name a lot of people wanted, but he has instilled throughout the squad a work ethic & togetherness long been needed at this club. He was brought in to do a job, & has succeeded.

Well done Nigel keep the bus rolling onwards & upwards.

+1

When he was mentioned as being in the frame, I was so pleased as he had not popped up on my Radar, but having got Scunny up on bobbins budget and always came across as being an intelligent manager.

The lesson to be learned is that we do not need to be looking to buy the next Billy big bo!!ox player we need to be smart and acquire the hat that fits best. Just as an aside listening to 606 tonight there was a Bury fan who questioned which manager should they get in next to replace Richie Barker!!! The bloke stepped in when Knill buggered off and put his foot on the gas. Brian McDermott at Reading is in the same mould.

Well done Nigel enjoy your Holidays and probably the most surreal pre-season you have enjoyed so far.

Great job done by Nigel; among the things that I like best about him are his relentless positivity and refusal to gripe or whinge on the (admittedly infrequent) occasions when we lost. I've never heard him moan about the ref, the pitch, the way the opposition played - nothing like that, and I personally find it very refreshing.

And, on top of all that, we've performed brilliantly, as the numbers show - and we've played some terrific stuff too.

hes done a great job.

i wanted pards and not him, backed him, questioned his plan b and hes proved me wrong and i love him now not just because of the results but the football we have played and he clearly loves the club and fans pure legend in the making.

MIDTABLE next season please Nigel unless you have 3-4 mill to spend then playoffs please

We were expected to be promoted this year, but after our start and all that had happened to finish on 92 points is unreal.

He came in when we were at a very low eb, but importantly for me he's kept calm - he's never panicked or critisied anyone individually (refereres/players etc). He's positive all the time and that positivity will rub off on the players week in week out.

He's managed the entire squad fantastically, everyone has had a chance and have been able to play a part and he deserves massive credit for that.

Also a special mention for Crosby and Wilkins - they're part of this success and have prepared us so well this year. People were writing Wilkins off and saying ''get rid of him'' when he managed us earlier on this year, but that would have been moronic and I'm glad Cortese saw sense and kept him on. Whilst he struggled a bit when he was caretaker, he is a fantastic coach and a key cog in our success this year.

Two excellent posts.

Well done to Nige and all the coaching staff.

I was one of those who was pleased with Adkins' appointment, but he has proved to be even better than I thought he would.

And as for those who can only say things like, 'He has only done what was expected of him' and 'I'll judge him on next year's performances', I think this says a lot more about those posters than it does about Nige and his team!
