Nathan Dyer

Swansea really are playing well against a strong Arsenal side. I wonder if they will go on to establish themselves in the top flight as Stoke City and Bolton have? They will if they keep playing like this.

The difference is Bolton will go down and Stoke play pub team football but to a higher standard. Swansea are excellent to watch. Hopefully we will replicate what they are achieving.

Walcott is still a sprinter and hasn't developed a footballer's brain. Dyer is there or thereabouts speed-wise and has a far better technique.
A bit unfair on Theo IMO. He would really benefit from moving away from Arsenal and playing in a more direct team. Reckon he'd be a top player for Spuds TBH.

Goes to prove that players do move on too early. Theo had so much more potential than Dyer at a young age, but I think moving to Arsenal at just 17 was far too early. Dyer has had first team football for the majority of his career and he's progressed really well. I think 2 more seasons in the Championship would have really brought Theo on a lot I reckon. Will be interesting to see if the same will be true of AOC, but wouldn't surprise me. You can't get anywhere near as much out of reserve games as you do in a first team, even if it is at a lower level.

As I type, good run and finish from Theo....

I know a few Arsenal fans who have said e can have him back, and they will take Lallana! They really do not want him or rate him.

Really? I work with 4/5 arsenal ST holders and loads of fair weather types and they credit him with a lot of assists to RVP? They are also very knowledgable about European football and appreciate that pep guardiola rates him as the toughest opponent in England? None of them have heard of Lallana except for when I go on about him?

The absolute salivation by some on here at the thought of Wallcott maybe failing is pathetic. I'm proud hexwas one of us, always speaks in glowing terms about the club and the city and is in the middle of an amazing career!

My memory of Dyer at Saints was him skinning someone then not really knowing what to do next. I always thought Theo had more of a brain - but good luck to em both - good to hear the taters asking if Southampton has got a factory for wingers (thats wingers not whingers)

3 - 2, This is an alright game I suppose.

That was Theo's first in 16.

Watched the game, Arsenal need to go and buy a midfield, apart from Song in the "enforcer" role it's garbage, wouldn't get into our side any of them, doubt even if Ramsey and Benayoun would get a game for Pompey.Good game by Swansea though.

Never understood why people like Ramsey so much. Above average EPL midfielder... :/

I'm not into slating Walcott, but it does seem that he moved too early and hasn't improved as much as he should have done IMO. I agree with the fact that he's playing in the wrong type of team. He may be having a good career but hardly an amazing one! He still has time on his side so maybe one day he'll truly fulfil his potential. Bale and Walcott at Barcelona one day?

Was really impressed with Dyer and Swansea today. He looks a very intelligent and rounded player now. Hard working too, often nicking the ball back. I think it bodes well for us if we get promoted as we try to play a similar brand of football. Think we need a bit more pace and more about us in defence tho.

But as I said, not today. Think it was Desailly commentating for Canal + sport, said he should have been subbed after 20 minutes and had his ass kicked. Bet Wenger is regretting that he didn't take that advice now as he gave the ball away for Swansea's second goal and slowed Arsenal's attack virtually every time he touched the ball.

Not unfair at all. A lot of the experts are saying he has bags of pace but no footballing brain. You can't teach that. You either have it or you do not. He does not. Chamberlain on the other hand will be better than Walcott and Dyer because he reads the game so well and has the vision to recognise the correct pass. Walcotts goal was good and that's how to use him. Only one option really and he took it well.

Walcott still makes too many bad choices with his final touch or choice of pass. Not mentally alert if he can't go it alone.

And also proves the lie of the Arsenal's much vaunted yoof development prowess

Feck Me! It seems that the English Prem (+ 1 Scottish Prem) and Championship are heavily reliant on ex Saints players. 3 involved Swansea v Arsenal and two scoring plus all the others playing regularly and Rudi scoring all the time! If we could have held onto them all they wouldn't be talking about Man U and Man C!
