Nexstar Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Most important (or not as it turned out!): Camara against Norwich in 2005 Best goal: Hmm, dunno about best worked goal but the top finish i've seen may well have been jordan robertson's against norwich this season. Not looking good for norwich.... Best will probably be chris baird's v Cardiff, but I wasn't there.
Saint_clark Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Best i've seen is either Baird V Cardiff, Rudi V Yeovil or Le Saux V Norwich.

krissyboy31 Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 (edited) MLT's v Newcastle. Channon's v Liverpool. Danny Wallace's also v Liverpool and Magilton's v Skates (all at the Dell). Pahars' also v Skates, Delap's v Spuds and John's v Hull City (at St Marys). Edit: I forgot Nick Holmes v Watford and Barry Horne v Bolton (both at the Dell, kicking towards the Milton and closer the halfway line than the goal). rpb Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Terry Paine against Southend - from the half way line into the top corner: the Dell went silent in disbelief and then erupted.
Huffton Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Barry Hornes at The Dell(RIP) vs Bolton. Anyone else remember MLT very nearly scoring just before that direct from the kick off? Keeper only just got his fingers to it. That would have been goal of the century, never mind the season!
corsacar saint Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Best goal I have ever seen at St Marys was scored by Tugay for Blackburn in 2001. For Saints best goal would be Pahars headed goal against Charlton a few weeks later in 2001. A magnificent cross from Beattie, a superb header, and afirst league win at St Marys.[ Look where Saints and Charlton are now].

offix Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 My memory plays tricks regarding the year, but I remember a great goal (from distance, a real screamer) by David Armstrong. I think it was 1981 against Manu at The Dell?
Fowllyd Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Danny Wallace vs Liverpool 1984. Nick Holmes vs Watford 1978 (or maybe 1979) - League Cup Nick Holmes vs Liverpool 1983 - winning goal in what must be the finest match I ever saw at the Dell. Clash City Saint Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Kevin Keegan verses Manure at the Dell, Milton Road end. Overhead kick from the corner of the 18yd box into the top far corner of the net. Disallowed because Dave Armstrong was stood offside (old rules). At least 'Spike' made amends later when he headed our third in a 3-2 win. I'm sure I've heard KK state that this was the best goal he ever scored and it was disallowed. On a side note anyone remember a goal that Raul scored for Real Madrid when he lobbed the on-rushing 'keeper yards outside the box and as the ball dropped, instead of controlling it and passing it into an empty net Raul scored with an overhead kick....some goal. Big_Bald_Si Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 I've seen some belters at Saints, but Baird's vs Cardiff wins it for me. It was just so unexpected, the thought "what the f*ck does he think he's doing" probably went through most people's minds, and when it powered into the back of the net, still rising as it went in, there was a moments pause, then the ground just erupted. Ended 2-2 though (after being 2-0 up), and a wet, cold and disappointing trip back to Reading followed.
paulwantsapint Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Remember as Baird stood to one side as lined up free kick against cardiff hearing someone say "lets do something different" then another voice say " what score" then "what the **** ... goal"
