Chelsea after Morgan and Nathaniel

FWIW Wanyama does say how much of a fan of Man U he is, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2862997/Victor-Wanyama-recovering-burgled-Southampton-star-looking-continue-Champions-League-dream-stealing-victory-against-Manchester-United.html , along with saying he'd like to play in the Champions League again.

You'd have to work pretty hard at taking those out of context to come to the conclusion he wants to leave though. Even if the Mail mentions how many of our players have been burgled as of December.

Vic is a strange one. There are things he does brilliantly, and there are things he needs a lot of work on. He is still developing and didn't play much football as a kid. But when you look at what he does brilliantly, is it something that a top team is going to want? Are they things that a top team needs considering 80% of their games are against inferior opposition and they need their midfielders to contribute attacking more than defending?

A Spurs, a Liverpool, probably. A team currently in the Top 4? I don't think so at the moment.

He's got 2 years hasn't he?

Morgan has 2 years, Clyne has 1. So we have more power over Morgan than we do over Clyne, that's for sure.

Should still be able to get a top fee for Morgan, but don't believe it will be high as some are anticipating (£35m+, no chance)

£16m for Clyne, £26m for Morgan.

Yeah, Batman was talking for Morgan though...

you are right, I meant clyne had 1 year left. not morgan

even so, we will not be getting £35m for morgan at all

The problem with the impending Schneiderlin transfer is that everyone knows we're selling, and that we'll want to replace him, so we'd rather sell quickly to help firm up our transfer budget. Often when there's an influx of money from a new tv deal you get prices creeping up as the summer goes on, other benchmark fees are set, and clubs get used to the new level of transfer costs - if you sell early you run the risk of getting in before the inflation starts - though equally you can buy early and potentially avoid it too.

I don't think we'd get £35m for him at last summer's prices, who knows what might happen with the new tv money washing around every club though.

Buy Clasie at the beginning of summer, sell Morgan towards the end. Sorted.

Does anyone know if players are not allowed to vote for players on their team?

Seems odd he'd go for 4 Saints and no Chelsea otherwise. Half surprised he didn't put himself in. Though in fairness, he's had a p good season.

Ah, yes good point. Might be a bit of tactical voting!

He probably figures that Clyne will win so he might as well vote for him. Notice the lack of a vote for Schneiderlin--the player most likely to compete with the better players from Chelsea.

Gary Neville putting Morgan in the same sentence as Bale, Pogba and Hummels saying whoever gets him will massively boost their title chances.

IMO he is easily worth £30m in todays market, maybe more due to the new TV deal.

but he wont go for £30m

Not many do win world football for his position, let alone one that has not played a single minute of european/champions league football

Herrera was more and hasn't got a Spain cap or much of a European record.

Schneiderlin is one of very, very few outstanding players in his position in the league. Fernandinho cost Man City 40m, Mangala over 30 too.

With the new TV deal as well prices this summer will probably be higher and he is a proven class PL player.

If there is a bidding war it will work in our favour but we shouldn't resign ourselves to taking less than he is worth.

I thought the TV deal started the NEXT summer, not this

we wont be getting £30m+ for a player who wanted out a year ago

Doesn't make a huge difference IMO. We know he is going but he has 2 years left on his contract so we hold the strong position, especially if multiple teams want him.

France Intl, still young, proven PL quality. Probably the 2nd best of his type in the league.

Less than 30m is disappointing IMO.

Perhaps, one of the biggest problems in an future deal is that Cabaye will be available for not a lot as likely as not and that will fill a spot in a very limited market unless of course he (Cabaye) decides to opt for Marseille or Monaco for just the money.

Khedira is for free (well and a lot of salary) and that takes up another place amongst the needy in the DM department.

Just have to wait and see I guess.

Considering the market, competition I'd easily expect over £30 million for Morgan. Anything less would be very weak from our board, to be honest they should be pushing closer to £40 million.

Not many out there as good as him, none ready adjiusted to Prem football and he's a player the Utd & Arsenal in particular really need.

I can't see Schneiderlin going for less than 25M. He's our best player, a France international, and with 3 seasons excelling in the prem. If we get less than that for him I'd be very surprised.

Agree and would change your fee to 30m.

Good to see you, Graeme and his nipper today.

Latest Morgan rumour. About the only thing that would surprise people would be the price....

Arsenal have finalised a deal with Southampton for the transfer of Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports in the Daily Star.

Gunners scouts have been tracking the Frenchman all season and now look to be closing in on their man.

Schneiderlin has starred for Saints this campaign on the back of a summer which saw him try and force a move away from St Mary's.

The prospective deal will cost Arsenal a fee in the region of £15m.
