Getting to the bar when not that busy, some bloke comes to stand next to you and accepts being served first - not saying "he's first".

Absolutely, the most un-British of behaviour

I sadly did this last week. It wasn't busy, but I just didn't see him. He seemed very hurt by it. I was mortified.

I join the foreign legion next week.

This should be in the "Offences to bring back hanging for" thread, not the "Small things that annoy me" thread.

Ignorant twats.

I went to a bar in town a while ago on a Sat afternoon , it was not too busy, but we are required to queue single file.

Legionnaires: Why did you have to join the Legion?

H&W: I await the end of a terrible persecution! I await The Fall Of Trousers!

Legionnaires: You'll be wanting the Follow That Camel set. This is Beau Geste.

H&W: Beau Jest?

Legionnaires: Just 10 minutes over there...

Another excerpt from the Andrew Lownie book ‘Entitled’

One of Ghislaine Maxwell’s friends, Cynthia Matthews, ‘told her about a luxury vehicle deal she had going with Prince Andrew in Thailand. She said Andrew loved Thailand and spent a lot time there’.

Heard a young American woman referring to the risk of going outside and being ’unalived’. What’s wrong with killed? While I’m at it why and when did died/dead become passed. Makes them sound like some kind of midfielder.

LISTER:
Look, Rimmer, death isn't the handicap it used to be in the olden days. It doesn't screw your career up like it used to.

RIMMER:
That's what they say, Lister. But if you had two people coming for a job, and one of them was dead, which one would you pick?

LISTER:
It depends which is better qualified.

World book day. Not so much the general idea of it to increase enthusiasm for reading but the fact that it's basically now just a "dress up as whatever you want day" because some kids are a bit too thick to have ever read a book.

There were a good proportion of boys at my daughter's school in football kits this morning, and various others on pajamas for some reason.

I suppose you literary types don’t class Wayne Rooney’s autobiography as a ‘real book’.
