May as well start it now, as the groups are about to be drawn...

England in pot 1.  There is a decent chance that some horrific groups will get drawn, given the spread of good teams in the various pots.

Alongside the footy, we are going to have months of demanding other cultures change to suit Western Values.  Not sure why the FA, Southgate the Players feel they need to 'fix it'

I clearly remember the day they voted for this Qatar WC. When All the brown envelopes were delivered, and everyone smiled.

Fuck fixing it. I'd rather laugh at its failure.

It will be good.  The media will desperately try to find something political to report about and England players will visit something, with their serious faces on.

The groups will be drawn shortly, with the fixtures to be decided at a later dates (to suit TV schedules).

Good news, in the groups stage there will be 4 games a day @10am 1pm, 4pm and 7pm UK times.

I think the same as the last world cup or two - there's only a few days where they do four in a day - typically the first Saturday/Sunday. And then obviously the last round of games, but those are at two set times so you can't see all of them.

England v Iran: Monday 21st November

England v USA: Friday 25th November

England v Wales/Scotland/Ukraine: Tuesday 29th November

Yep, definitely coming home :)

Yep, and then if it goes to according to paper (and we top the group)

R16 = Senegal

QF = France

SF = Belgium or Portugal

F = Argentina/Spain/Germany/Brazil

Let’s hope for some luck in the path to the final again!

No league games between November 14th and Boxing Day when the league will resume. The season starts on 6th August and ends on 28th May. So nothing worth watching through half on November and most of December.

Will the lower leagues not be operating in that time ?

Going by FIFA rankings Group B is the hardest which is a surprise.

Iran rank above Morocco, Serbia,  Poland and Japan.

How many Saints connections can we expect?

Current players limited to:

England - Maybe JWP or KWP

Poland - Bednarek

Scotland (?) - Adams & Armstrong

Ex-players:

England - Shaw

Denmark - Vestergaard

Senegal - Mane

Japan - Yoshida

Netherlands - Van Dijk

Serbia - Tadic

Wales (?) - Bale

Portugal - Fonte and Cedric? Not sure if they still get picked

Uruguay - Does Ramirez still play?

Any others??

Good question.

“The 2022-23 English Football League season will start earlier on 30 July next year because of the World Cup.

The Championship will run until 12 November and resume on 10 December, but League One and League Two will continue without a mid-season hiatus.

The final round of fixtures in all three divisions will be played on the weekend of 6-7 May 2023, with play-off finals from 27-29 May.”

Not really. When half your fixtures are against Bahrain or Turks and Caicos Islands, that tends to happen. FIFA rankings are largely nonsense.

That's a bonus of a draw if there ever was one! We should finish top, if we don't something has gone horribly wrong somewhere!

As it stands, as we don't know about Wales/Ukraine/Scotland, then USA will be the toughest, they've got a younger side these days - couple of ones to watch, Tyler Adams and Reyna who both play in Germany, quality players. Pulisic is a really good player as well, but they don't really have much more beyond that. They were better in the 2000's in my opinion.

Iran's rating is massively skewed because of who they play competitively to get to these tournaments. Iraq, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Cambodia....just to name few. That's why one of their goal scorers, the 50 year old Daei 'was' the worlds leading international goal scorer for many years until Ronaldo overtook him recently. He was still banging them in during his 40's!

They've got a few well known players like Azmoun, Jananbakch (Was at Brighton), Ghoddos etc - but generally they are very low in quality when compared to anyone half decent.

Might have to start supporting one of the shite South Coast clubs for a few weeks then....

Will be a great time for the local non-league clubs to get a few more through their gates.

Cheap tickets, a pint by the pitch and no players rolling around on the floor trying to con the ref.

Weston mckennie at juve for the yanks in no 6 roll .. get a good look 👀 and maybe long term replacement for Romeu if he’d come here ! I reckon he would as in and out of juve team.

I thought when big teams get an easy draw it’s because the draw is rigged?

Like all big money sports tournaments the draw is rigged by seeding players/teams to make sure the big teams/players get an easier ride to the final. F1 showed how bias can work last race of last season . Remember when Ferrari got all the decisions in their favour ?
