When exactly did we let JWP go, out of interest?

14th of August 2023. Not sure what point you're making but I was replying to someone who suggested we might sell Dibling too late to give us time to bring in a replacement.

Cannot remember but it was too cheap IMO

What is your point?

Yes In my opinion as I said, you don`t agree it would seem and that is your opinion.

The question was how so? So i was asking you how you'd reached your opinion.

A fair question is it not?

If I were Wet Spam I'd be disappointed on my ROI from JWP.

Agree.   Saints getting 30m GBP for a 30 year old JWP was good business, though you could argue we overpaid somewhat for Flynn Downes.

Yes its fair..

At the time I thought it was low for our captain, a consistently important player at the time.  Different reasons were given by others at around that time which I agreed with,  I cannot be bothered to look back at them, you can if you wish

I cant remember an occasion where SR have let a player's transfer drag on until it was too late to replace them

Does this latest news regarding our counter offer not imply that we have to make a big sale in order to fund other potential transfers (Spertsyan, Rudoni etc.)?

we have to sell someone significant....

Yes exactly, so are we are a bit hamstrung in terms of incoming transfers? Not sure of current PSR projections and so on, but this would explain a lack of incomings, and until something happens with Dibling, I am not confident we will be able to bring in those midfielders we so desperately need.

And it will be a lower price than we seem to be putting out there

Fine. If we get in the players needed who cares what amount they go for?

I thought it was a very fair price for these reasons

it was 30m pure profit, there were no outstanding transfer fees to be paid to other clubs.

he was 28 at the time, his game is mainly based around set pieces an incredible workrate, those things generally start to dip after 30

Whilst he was an important player for us he really wasn't that great in terms of the premier league level

People like JWP, Bednerak, Adams etc. becoming key personal in our squad kind of summarise how far we've fallen.

All of these are squad players, at best, for any half decent premier leauge side.

Fair enough, it is game of opinions

Not that surprising that a club would set a high asking price as a negotiating position

Get him ready for first team selection or get him gone.

He'll go when Everton offer an amount that we consider acceptable.

Fine, then get him available for first team selection then. He's a completely useless asset as it stands.

Let him go a fraction cheaper but put a higher sell on percentage on the deal

Then they'll just fiddle a swap deal down the line or something and we'll get stitched up...
