Lord Duckhunter Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The fact a good save is credited as “world class” & people are waxing lyrically about the save, tells you everything you need to know about Baz. Expectations are so low, it’s probably the first time Baz has made a save you didn’t think he should. It was very unlike Baz , he actually made it harder for the bloke to score by abandoning his ghost alter ego and made himself bigger. It’s one of those where you spread yourself and hope the ball hits you, thatd nit a criticism as it’s an important part of being in nets. Poor miss from the guy, he probably thought 1-0 and must be worried he’ll end up with the unenviable record of being the only bloke denied a goal by a good Baz save. He’s still shite though. A couple of times he could easily have collected crosses but didn’t, the only which went for a corner was embarrassing, if that was an under 15 keeper I’d be bollocking him for not giving the defender a call and collecting the ball. 3

I agree. It was a good save but he was rooted to his line on a couple of occasions and let his defenders deal with a couple of balls about 3/4 yards out that he could easily have collected, resulting in corners against. Can’t get a new keeper in quick enough for me. 3
St. Ciervo Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) This excerpt is from a scouting report posted by another user in the Peretz thread... Sound familiar? Playing Style & Strengths Modern GK: Comfortable with the ball at his feet, good short distribution, suits possession-based teams. Weaknesses: Aerial/command of area: Biggest area for improvement – can be hesitant on crosses/high balls. Experience: Still raw at top level; needs consistent games to develop (reason for loans). Long distribution: Prefers short passes; less effective in direct styles. Edited 2 hours ago by St. Ciervo
bpsaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Apparently us lot are the dense ones 😂. Crazy to think there’s people out there blind to how poor Baz is. Edited 2 hours ago by bpsaint 1
St. Ciervo Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 2 things can be true at once. He can not be up to the job and have a shit defense. The latter is especially true, and if the new keeper comes in and is below average, that might help us diagnose the actual problem.

Love how you conveniently left out the following under playing style and strengths: Strong shot-stopping: Fundamentally sound, quick reflexes, performed well in limited Bayern outings (e.g., solid in Pokal and UCL cameos). Commanding presence: Brave in the box, good mentality under pressure. Athletic: Decent height and agility for 1v1s and crosses. Proven at lower levels: Excellent record at Maccabi (44 clean sheets in 101 games) and Israel NT.

The only thing I take from that is that the goalkeeper is therefore incidental as a good defence will do it all. I thought he was there in case the good defence didn't. Sometimes the other team make that happen. Just to be clear: our defence is shit, but we all know that. 1

I agree, and I would have hoped for an experienced GK, but this is SR we are talking about, so I guess I have to be content with the fact that they have identified this position as one that needs strengthening… 1

The phrase "Baz is fine in this league" is completely an utterly laughable, regardless of the odd good/very good save Nice side-step👍
