Home looks interesting. Not sure about the shoulder detail.

Yellow, blue and black stripes. Bloody awful combination of colours.

The badges on the third kit look cheap and tacky.

Out of interest, how much do shirts go for these days?

What idiot decided that the saints badge and the Puma logo looked better bridging the red and white stripes rather then being set in the red stripe?

Once again the mock-up looks better than the real thing.

Year after year we see better designs on here from supporters than they come up with. Really have to wonder what sort of twats  are employed to design for the manufactures, and about the retards at the club who select them.

Just checked, and it appears the badge sat over the stripe on the original.

Not as I remember it, but it was nearly 50 years ago.

However, a few months into that season the badge was put on a black circular background

How many years did we keep that circle for ? Wasn’t it just 1976/7 the year after we’d won the cup?

They changed it the following season so the badge sat in a black circle, looked much better, that’s probably your memory as it is mine

The badge started appearing on a plain black circle at the end of 76, for example it was seen in the FA Cup 3rd game against Chelsea. But by the end of the season it was modified to include "FA cup winners 1976" below the badge. That remained for as long as we had the Admiral shirts - right through to 1980. I thought it was a bit embarrassing that we were still referencing the cup win four years on. But then for years after 1975 Fulham had "FA cup finalists 1975" underneath their badge.

Firstly, issue a sad anorak alert.

Following the posts with SidneyFudpucker and Kenilworthy ( good name for a rural Solicitors or such like ) I’ve looked into the 1976/7 shirt.

I hadn’t realised it or remembered how inconsistent this was.

The badge on Rodrigues and Stokes is fully on one of the red stripes, whereas it is across the two stripes  for others including Channon  and Holmes. This might be due to the size of shirt perhaps.

The badge is on the white of Steve Williams & Osgood’s shirt.

Williams and Osgood  have a different design with central red stripe.

Wonder how the Quality Control worked at Admiral in the 1970’s. 

Doesn’t matter of course as the teams that wore that (after the initial early season slumber in 76/7) were a joy to watch.

Different shirt designs 1976/7 shown here:

I don’t recall ever seeing us at a match play in the  shirt worn by Blyth. 
Although it was worn at Carrick Rangers, by some of the players from something I read years ago.

Admiral's quality was so patchy. Remember watching a documentary on them, England needed some emergency shirts for the 1982 world cup, they sent a lady out to sew on the badges to the shirts out in spain and they were all over the place.

Mine cost around £12 from an "alternative source" this season so will probably do the same again!

Whatever we get, it will be better that the abomination that is the Spurs Kit just released. Has to be one of the worst top flight team first kits in recent years , utterly hideous.

What an era that was. Packed stadiums, English football in its prime and a Saints team packed full of quality that were a match for anyone in the country. That period must have been like a dream for Saints fans, the cup win, promotion, a league cup final, top 6 finishes the norm, signing Keegan, Shilton. It’s just a shame we didn’t win more as we really could and should have won a few more trophies. We will never see that era again.

If so that was one of my favourite shirts I've owned. Wore that a lot. Possibly my second favourite shirt after the Sash. 

I like all 3 shirts though if those are true. Could be an expensive Christmas for my missus.

Really? I thought it was fucking shit. It’s blue for a start. Best kits for me were the keegan/patrick kit, the sash, the le tissier, rod Wallace 89/90 kit

for aways the yelloW and blue 76 kit obviously, the 2003 cup final kit and the all white 89/90 away with a turquoise style trim

No it doesn't. You can see that the material is slightly creased because of the way he's sitting. If you look closely you can see that the stripe continues further down. It's just the angle and the way the shirt is sitting that makes it look like the stripe stops.

Yeah, that looked shit too. 

Look at the puma logo. You can only see part of it. The white logo vanishes against the white part of the shirt. Either move it so it sits in the red stripe or make it black so that it stands out against the red and white.
