If Edwards is off is it rather risky going into the season with only 4 CB's? I guess Taylor could play there in an emergency.

Last promotion season I think Holgate was 4th choice and made 4 starts

Edit - forgot Charles played some CB as well

I'm sure he played in a back 4 for them mainly, he did play some games in DM though as the typical 'front sweeper jack Stephens (tm)' role. But he can do that, because he's technically sound and good on the ball.

We lose a DM, RB and CB with him going and I don't think we're particularly blessed at either RB or DM tbh.

Fair enough, I could be misremembering.

He’s been a disappointment so far this season, but agree would be a shame to lose that versatility. Though we do probably need to lose a CB and he doesn't seem to fit the physical profile of defender we want in the team.

If that was the case I'd be losing Wood, and maybe I wouldn't have signed Stephens on a new contract. Edwards is the sort you plan around, not ditch. He's never been given a chance here so it was an odd signing if we're willing to dump straight away.

good time to join them since they got pumped like bonnie blue last week but i would prefer to keep him he played really well last season in the championship

Based on everything I’ve seen, he’s really average. Telling only QPR, a side more likely to be battling relegation than a top half finish, are after him.

stick a decent sell on clause in and we’ll be laughing.

Finn Azaz feels more like a panic buy to me. Reading some of the write ups from Boro fans suggest that he’s ok in space in the AM role but will go missing in quite a few games.

43 goal involvements (ie goals or assists) in his last 93 games in the Championship. Clearly he's wank at this level 🙄

I think the comparison with Tadic might be relevant. We had a portion of our fanbase who saw him as a lazy 'luxury' player. And then he left and absolutely shredded it at Ajax and even the doubters noticed his absence. He would have quiet spells and then pull out a piece of magic.

Now all we need are Stewart Armstrong and Archer to start finishing like prime Pelle & Mane...

Been a total disappointment so far and haven't worked out what QPR fans saw in him. And that pushing stuff he does is intensely irritating. Yes he needs more games and it's odd if he goes so quickly, but we have enough centre backs at the moment.

Let's give him a chance though. He's only played for us a couple of times.

Edwards played as a DM twice for QPR and not at all in previous seasons. Despite this he is clearly the 'footballer' amongst our back line. Could we convert him to a back up DM?

Regardless of how high QPR fans rated him, he’s not for us. How many other players from QPR would you take…? My guess is probably none.

Wood’s been solid for me.

He’s not going to be a regular starter for us though.

The long term plan is to play (hopefully) 4 at the back. We don’t need 5 senior CB’s. Stephens (captain), Quarshie (new signing) and THB (most valuable) are not going, so leaves Wood or Edwards. We’re clearly targeting big and strong players, which would give Wood the edge.

Who knows, it might be a loan or it might be bullshit.

Would some of our outcasts not fancy linking up with RM again??? By god he needs all the help he can get, the Rangers players are doing their best to get him sacked tonight!

Long term plan?

We could have done that the other week.

Edozie off to Brugge after tonight due to qualifying for CL...

Could be right - does seem like the transfer is on hold after he seemingly agreed personal terms.

I mean, they were playing Russell Martin's Rangers, so their place in the Champions League was never in doubt.  Not sure why they needed to wait.

Listening to Adam Blackmore it sounds like Azaz is virtually over the line. So that got me thinking about a team for Watford (and the blue few) and I realised that a Ralph style 4-2-2-2 might suit us better than a 4-2-3-1.

Thoughts?

Ipswich signing Nunez from Norwich. That will go down well in Norfolk…

I think Wood is better than you give him credit for.

10m for a player out of contract at the end of the season, done well to get that amount. Fans won't see it like that though!

Anyone else quite impressed with Stewart last night? Looked a proper handful and if he can hold the ball up (and not get injured) I think he could be good.

Norwich will really struggle this year I think. They lost Sainz to Porto and now Nunez. If they lose Sargent that's their 3 best players gone.

Wood has pretty much saved us this season when the centre backs who were supposed to be ahead of him have all looked ropey

Yep... Would like to see him and Archer given a run in the side to see if they can forge a partnership together.

If we know something about Archer, he will score. He is a pure finisher. Just don't expect him to do anything else.
