Now there’s a name from our past (and Chelsea’s).  I wish we had now a few who played like him.  He’d certainly keep Vardy in his pocket.

Myself and a few of our gang from school saw his debut at Wolves in 1966 where Dave Webb scored the equaliser, with an overhead kick, if I'm not mistaken,
Saints then when on quite a long unbeaten run to gain their first ever promotion to the 1st Division.
He was a decent player.

Fancy us to won this. I feel like Leicester are more down in terms of morale than we are. If Rusk can keep it tight, as he likes to, I think we can nick a win here.

Probably only thinking this because losing there is just unthinkable.

I also think we might get something against Arsenal.

Yep. Beaten.

Vardy to score is probably one of the most sure fire bets in football history.

No way - with Bednarek man-marking him he’ll not get a look in. I’m confident. 😬

Bertrand was offside.

A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:

  • interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or
  • interfering with an opponent by:
    • preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
    • challenging an opponent for the ball or
    • clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
    • making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball.

Indeed and isn’t it true that VAR is introduced to the Championship next season? ☹️

Is this confirmed?

Genuinely think I might be done with football altogether if that’s true

When was Vardy's last goal? Cert to score against us.

Vestergaard with a defensive masterclass also.

3-0 Leicester

50% of this forum has more pace than Vestergaard. Play Sulemana through the middle/coming off wide down his side and lots of early balls into the channels to skin Jannik. If Sulemana can’t put Vestergaard on his arse then there’s no hope for him even in the Champ. If Archer could be bothered, I’d start him as well.

The Championship has goal-line technology and the EFL already uses VAR in the play-off finals for the Champ, L1 and L2, but in October the CEO of the EFL said that they weren't going to introduce VAR in the Championship league competition: https://archive.ph/SBbI6

Although apparently they were looking at a trial that IFAB were doing of an alternative option called Football Video Support (FVS) which uses fewer cameras and operates on a challenge system similar to tennis and cricket: https://talksport.com/football/2409991/efl-referee-var-carabao-cup-premier-league-championship/. No idea what happened to that though as that was in December and haven't heard of anything about that since.

If they do insist on trying something it would be interesting to see that FVS trial taken forward as a direct alternative to the current VAR system used in the PL. I've always maintained that a challenge system makes way more sense for football, if its done properly.

That’s now.

If Sulemana did put him on his arse he’d only turn back and give him another chance.

Hermansen is a top goalkeeper, that's a big loss for them. And I seem to recall Buonanotte coming on and changing the game for them back at SMS.

We won't get a better chance than this to pick up three points until August.

That article is very vague about ‘interfering’ and  the IFAB instructions about the interpretation of the Law change more often than the direction of the wind and to be honest Bertrand is a lot more central in that photo than I remember. This was 2017 of course. Once upon a time there wouldn’t even have been a debate about it.

If Danny Ward is in goal for the injured Hermansson it’s got to be a shoot on sight situation, surely?

Can see this later :

Play 5 at the back

Shots on target - 0

Lose 1-0 (Vardy)

Been a while, was easy enough to park near Grace Road (Leicestershire cricket ground) and walk from there but check if restrictions have changed

It’s Stolarczyk, so expect him to play a blinder. He hasn’t made any saves in the PL games he’s played in.

Stats show Saints way ahead in allowing shots and shots on target plus letting in 80 goals so far , which they have done before when previously relegated ! Plus Kane has scored only one less goal in his league than Saints as a whole 😄 .

So looking bad for Saints in El Crapico as it’s apparently now know as 😁

They can’t score for toffee. We are going to go 5 at the back, no attacking intent. 0-0 bore draw. Match of the day - another record - first time a game has no highlights, so nothing shown. 😁

Probably just about the nest line up we could have gone for as we need pace today rather than talk Paul as a target man.

If we are up for it and make an effort and cannot get anything out of this game...well, what can anyone say.

Final prediction, mentalmickey to add a lol emoji to this post.

I don’t know why people get so worked up about 5 at the back. It isn’t a rigid line of 5 that aren’t allowed to leave their posts. I don’t have an issue with it.
