Apparently true for some. He has his own system, they don't think they have the players for. Trying to implement it in December, and with the board not backing through player buying for Rodgers, so maybe not for Nancy, means they can see a long road to it working, if at all. They think it's a daft appointment.

Rangers face Hearts this weekend. Win that and they will be back in the title mix despite their shambolic start.

Makes you wonder if we could have salvaged a bit of pride last season, had we managed to secure Rohl's services, as the ITKs seemed to suggest would happen at various points.

Watching the extended highlights and Celtic had plenty of chances to be well ahead at half time. They created a lot down their left flank. But final deliveries and poor finishing ke\t it to a single goal. Iheanacho is Injured. Those playing missed a couple of gilt edged opportunities. No lack of effort from Celtic, and United barely did anything.

United boss Jim Goodwin made a couple of half time subs, snoring up his back line and bringing on players who could push up. And Celtic struggled to get anywhere near the same breaks. They conceded a few corners. Those they cleared, but then struggled to then retain the ball and get out. United first came from a cut back that AA would love to receive for us. The second was a nice shot from the edge of the box.

Celtic then had to push up. United had a couple of chances to get a third. Although fewer in number, Celtic could have equalised, heading onto the post from a really good chance.

They liked trotting out stats for Martin. 1978 was Nancy's equivalent for Celtic. That was just before the rise of Dundee United and Aberdeen. 

Defectors Watch Crossover: Will Ferry was in the United side. His delivery led to one of their goals.

Edit: As the goals went in, Nancy tried to remain passive. But he was gutted. With the Chairman now standing down, he looks under real pressure as he walked off.

Shaping up to be a very even league apart from Coventry. I wonder if Ipswich or Saints will put a mammoth run together or not. Seems to happen in the championship most seasons.

It's nothing to do with their attitude and everything to do with the kind of players they signed - they are a big powerful side who don't get bullied.

They’ve got an awful run of fixtures coming up too over the next month. Hopefully they can take our earliest a team has been relegated record.

Its going to be a number of factors.

The mentality in my view was weak and that came from Martin and his view on how to play football.

Luton had a bunch of cloggers and so do Burnley,  so not just down attitude or having big blokes in the side.

Several ex Saints in action in the Prem yesterday,  even Clyne for Palace ! Looking at Motd they didn't do very well .  Couple of defensive errors lead to goals against WHU Fernandes and W Peters, Everton could have scored if Alcarez was on target . other players only got a mention when subbed !

Yeah, aside from the money it's shaping up to be a bad move for him. Purely from a playing angle he'd surely have been better off having another season with us and then considering a move next summer because he's still so young. He's now getting the odd 15 minutes here and there which is never going to help him get into his stride especially as he often comes on when Everton are struggling. Think we pulled their pants down because he was never ready for the Premier league and, with his apparent problems away from the comfort of St Marys, they have their work cut out knowing what is best to get him operating at the required level.

From Saints' point of view, though, without the Dibling money we probably wouldn't have bought either Scienza or Fellows (especially as we would obviously still have had Dibling here). IMHO those two have collectively had more impact than we probably could have expected from Dibling himself.

McInnes has got them working really hard for each other in a system that plays to their strengths. Rangers are a group of strangers brought in for a failed approach right across their club. Hopefully Hearts can keep it going.

With the way they have been selling players to balance the books, not great, although they did turn down a £50m bid for Larsen last season so things could be better now. Still they have been on a downward trajectory and that is hard to break.

Another annoying thing…

when a players has a good game, there is ‘chatter’ amongst the pundits about selection for England.

MOTD bright up Calvert-Lewin for England. He has not been selected and all of a sudden he could?

Same when Mason Mount has the odd good game. He is getting no where near the squad given the players ahead of him.
