Does that mean we cruise to the title this year?

So far SR have done their utmost best to model the club on the proverbial Titanic - perhaps this is the final jigsaw piece in that aim?

In all seriousness, to be fair this is a good move as it’s nice to see a proper connection with the city instead of the dubious branding of recent years.

(…yes MLG, I know P&O were not connected to the Titanic 🙄).

There's a tenuous link, to be fair, as Carnival own both P&O and Cunard. The latter bought out the White Star Line sometime after they got into financial troubles because one of their boats sank.

That was P&O Ferries, not Cruises

FFS. P & O Cruises and P & O Ferries are now two very distinct entities.

when throwing around claims like that you need to be really careful about who you're talking about...

=====================================================================

2000: P&O Group decided to spin off its cruise division, which included P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises, and other brands, into a separate company called P&O Princess Cruises. This move allowed the company to focus more on its ferry and port operations.

2003: Carnival Corporation & plc acquired P&O Princess Cruises for £3.5 billion, integrating it into its portfolio of cruise brands.

2006: The remaining ferry operations, including P&O Ferries, were sold to DP World, a Dubai-based logistics company, marking the final separation of the two businesses.

P&O Cruises are Owned by Carnival Corporation & plc, a U.S.based cruise operator

P&O Ferries are Owned by Dubai based DP World.

Well done Saints for rejecting betting and alcohol as front-of-shirt sponsors, in favour of P+O, a less-unethical company with strong local links.

Did they reject any? I'm not so sure. I imagine we took whoever offered the most money/perks.

Given that 'Midnite' are the new training kit sponsors, I dont think the club has made any stance against betting companies and taking their money (makes a pleasant change!)

Wonder what Neil Shiperley thinks?

He’s not keen on cruise liners. He prefers a tug!

That's P&O Ferries. We're being sponsored by P&O Cruises, 2 completely separate companies.

It may be you are confusing P & O Cruises with P & O Ferries, who are owned by completely different companies, one American, the other Saudi

Only marginally less unethical. They exploit minimum wages rules around the world. Pump out shit into the atmosphere, dump waste at sea.

A whistle blower was once awarded £1m in compensation for highlighting dodgy procedures onboard ships.

There's a reason Extinction Rebellion targeted their AGM a few years ago.

There was a big protest about P&O when they sacked all their staff as it affected people in Kent . P&O got away with it as Govt doesn’t seem to have much control over anything relating to international business .

Companies find it easy to , on paper , sell bits off etc to get their way in the end . I don’t know what the real situation is between P&O and P&O . It’s difficult to believe people like Green ran a chain of shops in the UK while all the £ was siphoned off via numerous offshore trusts ending up in another trust in his wife's name in Monaco.

Have a read of Nolan's post a couple of hours ago.
The difference between P & O Ferries who operate Ferry Services out of Dover and P & O Cruises who operate cruise ships out of Southampton is worth a read.

I have and that may be true but to have P&O as a sponsor means they can be identified with P&O ferries who are not thought of highly in Kent.

I believe there are over 60 different types vessels that travel over water that they can identify as and its not down to you or anyone else to tell them which one it is.

I'm not telling anyone anything but if people see P&O on a shirt they will associate it it with anything with P&O on it , ferry or whatever ffs.

Mainly Saints supporters who saw Martin Chivers score a last minute equaliser against Ipswich when most of the crowd at the Dell had made an early exit back in the day 60 years ago.

Luckily any Kent based Saints fans who don't want to be associated with P&O can buy the new shirt from that far -east website without a sponsor on

Funnily enough Kent isn’t thought very highly of by the rest of the country when it comes to boats.

And they can feel good about themselves not supporting P&O's exploitive methods. But their fake kit will be made using Uyghur labor, sooooo....
