I disagree about Azaz. We need players that can open up defences. Sometimes he may look like he offers little but it was his slide rule pass that put Arma through and his wonderful first touch and pass that put Leo in for his goal. Smallbone etc isn’t giving you that. At times MLT offered nothing and then suddenly………Azaz isn’t fit to lace his boots but he does have a part to play.

Fair play to our players, can't fault the effort and we matched them in a battle, feels like the Skates allow their fans to get away with so much that we'd never have at St Mary's, deranged screaming from the front row at any Saints player touching distance, fantastic celebration from Leo to give it back to them

Merked off his nut on some shady substitute for smack

2 moments of quality from him today and should have led to 2 goals. He’s one of those players that’s going to frustrate fans but he’s got the ability to unlock a defence with the right players round him

I’m struggling to think of one clear cut chance they made, or even a mildly difficult save our keeper had to make. Anyone who watches that game and thinks they created better chances than us, is clearly clueless…

This all day long. If stats suggested they had the better of that game then I’m joining Whitey’s Stats Are Meaningless club.

I didn't like the hoofball tactics one little bit. It cam straight back to us with them in possession most of the time.

I thought we looked much better when we were in control and passed it around in midfield as long as its not at the back.

I still think we need a tall thug as CF in this league, but its looking unlikely now.

I thought our defence might have pushed up 10 yards and condensed play so as to make our greater quality count, especially the last half hour when they had a defence made up entirely of full backs. Agree about Azaz. He’s clearly one of the quality players we need to get on the ball much more in areas where we can punish shite teams like them.

Others have slagged the subs but most people wanted to see Fellows, Stewart and Charles on

Matsuki was giving away too many fouls and stray passes, Azaz a couple of beautiful passes but no real issue with him coming off either.

Leo injured so he needed to come off.
Unfortunately the opposition did their jobs and were well organised even though they are a shit bunch.

Ref let that Ogilvie cunt do what he likes.

Of course they’re all over social media now as predicted. Didn’t sing, quiet as usual, didn’t sell out, never heard them etc. so predictable and boring

good performance by them

Why leave out Wellington who was as good as those back four players you mention.

......and we probably will again ,next game maybe? but they seemed more in tune with one another. Seems strange our subs didnt make too much of an impact on what remained of the game sadly.   Azaz? at times like today apart from the pass to set up the goal, IMO offered another wasted lazy performance, maybe the Boro fans were glad to see the back of him?

He also set up AA who should have scored from his perfect through ball.

He has a part to play but he can go 5 or 6 games as a passenger and doesn’t offer enough. The reason it’s so frustrating is that he quite clearly has enormous ability but just can’t apply it consistently.

He's possibly suffering from having team mates who are not the cleverest footballers. Must be frustrating for him I should imagine. His football brain is the sharpest we've got and the fact that the rest are not on his wavelength is hardly his fault.

They are some of the weirdest people in the country, the way they pounce on anything to try and convince other fans on the internet how great their support is compared to ours.
It’s like limp peckered sexual failures over compensating by telling everyone how successful they are with women.

It's not just him though, the entire side was like that,  just allowed to intimate every Saints player that went near them for a throw etc, their players get a very easy ride comparatively at St Mary's

My random thoughts

  • Bubble worked well although ridiculous too early
  • Seeing the locals down the Eastern Road videoing the coaches in their PJ's is not what you to see at 9am
  • The concourse in the away end has to be the most stupidly designed in football club history
  • Top effort by the Saints fans smashing up the toilets - f**king idiots!!
  • Apart from the tools as mentioned above, the Saints fans were immense today - non stop singing as soon as the buses turned up.  Scenes when Leo scored will live long in the memory
  • Not the best game but was never going to be - THB, Stephens & Flynn stepped up

Am pretty glad we don't actually act like that in the main. For all their propaganda about being the best supporters in the world they are a bunch of cunts. Sky should be ashamed of themselves showing that twat Westwood.

We have gone from aimlessly passing the ball about at the back to aimlessly launching it up front. Still, at least we didn’t lose.

I prefer the latter. The only difference is needing a target man up front and not AA.

Well done to the proper fans, great effort.

As for the complete morons amongst you that smashed up the toilets I personally hope you get identified, prosecuted and banned for life. It’s a football match, you’re not fighting for your country. Morons

I had the Pompey channel for the first 15 minutes, it was like Fox News for fish fuckers, going on about how great their fans are.

I managed to find another feed with white noise instead, much better.

On the football front ,the back 4 was much better, Azaz and Matzuski  had some good creative moments. AA should have put that first chance in the same spot as he did at Wembley.

What for allowing the handball goal?

I thought the ref did pretty well in general. As for their handball goal - I had no idea it hit his hand until I saw the zoomed in replay. That is one area where VAR is needed.

That we gave been missing.  A few others got stuck in  today but we are a luxury team, like a team you would take to USA on exhibition games. You cant just play a nice passing game. Pompey will stay up as they can bundle balls in from corners and disrupt passing g teams.

Beautiful sight Leo running the whole length of the Jeremy Kyle stand and giving it back to the inbred skate dentist dodgers, frothing at the mouth.

Would have taken a point a week ago, and can’t really fault the effort but it’s another team with players missing, we’ve failed to beat. Really poor goal.

See they’ve tried to spin the ball boy injury, atmosphere etc usual portsmyths, gotta laugh

I personally would have liked Azaz to have stayed on. He seems to be very much a confidence player and after the assist for the goal, I would have fancied him to create something else to potentially win the game. I accept he's frustrating and didn't have a great game overall, but he is a threat especially when his tail is up.

He was much better in the 2nd half. 1st half he seemed to be letting the game pass him by.

Even when Stewart came on it didn’t work and the ball kept coming back. There must be more ways to play football than just one or the other.
