saintant Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Downes suspended for 3 games. Massive miss for this game and the two remaining league games. Bollox! 1
OldNick Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Well the players have to 'Do it for Flynn and Ryan' Interesting no retrospective for Gabriel Edited 6 hours ago by OldNick
bender Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago At least he'll be back for the play offs. For me, the last 2 league games are only about whether we finish 4th or 5th. In other words, do we play Boro away or home first 1
Baird of the land Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Has anyone got the video of the incident. Curious as i don't remember thinking there was anything too bad in the original challenge to be worthy of a retrospective red card.
saintant Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Team without Downes Peretz Bree Stephens/Wood THB Wellington Jander Bragg Matsuki Azaz Scienza Larin

Isn't there some archaic rule that they can only punish after the fact if the ref didn't see it? Presumably the ref didn't include it in his match report.

The difference being that Gabriel was booked as the referee saw the incident at the time and acted accordingly. A yellow was very lenient but that’s what he gave. Downes elbow was clearly not seen at the time, which is why he has a retrospective ban. It doesn’t seem fair on the face of it but them’s the rules.
BARCELONASAINT Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago so no Manning, no Downes and Captain Jack 50/50 at best. The thought of Nathan Wood against City terrifies me!
SNSUN Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Ticket acquired, Boxpark Ticket acquired, route in sorted, now just need to decide what to wear seeing as I only have home kits and nothing yellow in my wardrobe! I my be travelling alone but I'm getting excited for this one. Yes we'll probably not win but I'm going to make the most of the atmosphere and hey, if we do miraculously win I will be cancelling my Sunday plans with the family to go sodding mental. Now to go out and buy something yellow...

While Downes missing is a major blow the one consolation is it is the position where we have the best options as cover with 2 out of Jander, Charles and Bragg to start. Hell you could even throw Romeu in as cover for the cover 😂 1

Downes has been cruising for this for a while. He needs to learn some self control. That was a red every day, the yellow was very lenient. 3 games that don't matter that much, shame for him but he'll be fit for the play offs, which are the key games. Jander, Bragg, and Charles can cover defensive midfield duties and errr Romeu. 1

Even Welington is decent cover for Manning. 1

I imagine we'd have appealed the decision if it was earlier in the season, but I guess we feared the impact of the "we know better than you" geniuses at the FA doubling-down on their decision would have on the play-offs. Maybe the first sign we've had that the club consider promotion more important than winning the cup...? 2

Yep, likewise. He hasn't even been on the bench of late, has he? The Premier League will be fuming, broadcasters suing Man City and officials demanding a replay of the match or a bye for City. The FA pulling out all the stops to make sure that City win. 1 1
