There is sooooo much 'cheating' that goes on in football, both on and off the field, that EVERY club is guilty of. But apparently this incident is completely unforgivable, embarrassing etc... I think some of you need to find another sport to follow. Agree. More cheating goes on in football than any other sport and most of it takes place during games in front of thousands or millions if televised. A bit of covert spying comes well down the list but this has all been blown up out of all proportion. 5

saintant Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 13 minutes ago, bpsaint said: Fucking idiotic from the club whatever way we look at it. Whatever marginal game was to be had by spying was completely wiped out by the impetus it gave their fans and their players. Don’t see how some of us are playing it down saying it wouldn’t affect the players or that Tonda will shield them from it, our team was absolutely rattled first half and it’s only due to inept finishing and last ditch defending that we’re still in with a shout in Tuesday. After all the goodwill about our club, the league form, the fa cup run, pundits waxing lyrical about how incredible our support was against Arsenal and Man City, all of that has been wiped out because of this spy shite. If it was on the doing of Tonda as much as I’ve loved the last 5 months, he’s a fucking idiot, and he’s bought our club into disrepute. Saturday was still a fairly enjoyable away trip, but having Boro fans shouting cheating bastards and cheating cunts at us, added an edge that didn’t need to be there. Hopefully after that second half performance the players are over their nerves and with St Mary’s behind them we can get the result we need. Then we can go to Wembley and have a “Nobody likes us but we don’t care” final between us and Millwall. Yet many of these pundits and journos continue to blow smoke up the arses of the likes of Man City and Chelsea despite all the dodgy stuff they have done for years and won multiple trophies because of it. Double standards. 3

This is singlehandedly the biggest self sabotage in our history. We are lucky that that first half didn't ruin our chances of promotion. Whoever sanctioned this put our team under far more pressure, in a already massive game, and it nearly cost us big time. And for what? What could you possibly hope to learn from the Thursday training session? One thing, Hackney was not out on the training pitch. If that is what the concern was, then shame on us, its pretty pathetic. It ruined the build up to what usually is the most exciting version of a football competition. It spoiled the away day experience, for what should make exciting memories for fans following the Saints. The second half nearly was far better, but on another day you do not recover from that first 45 minutes. Relief was short lived for me, I was quickly back to anger and frustration. We handed them a gift, & because they failed to make the most of it on the day, does not make it any less expensive now. I hope lessons are learned from this, even without the bureaucratic EFL punishments that are now in the post. Are you havin’ a laff pal? 2

AlexLaw76 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I know fans are precious in some cases, particularly online. however, the collective over-egged (faux) outrage by so many Boro posters is remarkable. Stud mark of doom Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I can see we might need to be punished if we have broken the rules but is there a real argument that Boro have been materially harmed by this? It’s not as if he was watching for ages and they only found out after the event. They spotted him on the first morning it wasn’t allowed and will know what he saw - and know that we know they know etc. As far as the fairness of the sporting contest goes - because he was spotted - it’s pretty irrelevant. whelk Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago I can comfortably say if it was Hull spying on Millwall or vice versa I would not give a shit or care one jot. Some Saints fans are comical saying everyone now wants Boro to win. Almost see what is wrong with society with how pathetic so many are 1

saintant Posted 42 minutes ago Posted 42 minutes ago I keep reading about a whistle blower claiming we've been doing this all season but with nothing to back it up. It seems to have originated from a Boro fans forum where they actually name the guy and then a number of other fans come on and point out that he's a well known fruit loop who has history for this sort of thing. Is there any evidence of another whistle blower because it seems to me this is an unsubstantiated rumour that's spread and the press have just decided to run with it and not done any due diligence.

I doubt the EFL would have laid a charge just on this whistleblower. Not too mention 'the spy' was approached allegedly by a Boro media team member. As said before, conflicting stuff coming out of there at the moment.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear but I wasn't suggesting the EFL laid a charge based on what the whistle blower said. I was trying to make the point that the press have run with the story but there seems no evidence other than the stuff on a Boro fan site in which they admitted the named guy is a fruit loop.
