Agree. More cheating goes on in football than any other sport and most of it takes place during games in front of thousands or millions if televised. A bit of covert spying comes well down the list but this has all been blown up out of all proportion.

Its not like he bribed someone to get into the premises or used fake ID , you can literally just walk up the grounds from a publicly accessible hotel / golf course

Saturday was still a fairly enjoyable away trip, but having Boro fans shouting cheating bastards and cheating cunts at us, added an edge that didn’t need to be there. 
 

Hopefully after that second half performance the players are over their nerves and with St Mary’s behind them we can get the result we need. Then we can go to Wembley and have a “Nobody likes us but we don’t care” final between us and Millwall.

Yet many of these pundits and journos continue to blow smoke up the arses of the likes of Man City and Chelsea despite all the dodgy stuff they have done for years and won multiple trophies because of it. Double standards.

I know fans are precious in some cases, particularly online.

however, the collective over-egged (faux) outrage by so many Boro posters is remarkable. I genuinely thought northerners were made of sterner stuff than this. They have collectively lost their online minds.

I can see we might need to be punished if we have broken the rules but is there a real argument that Boro have been materially harmed by this? It’s not as if he was watching for ages and they only found out after the event. They spotted him on the first morning it wasn’t allowed and will know what he saw - and know that we know they know etc. 

As far as the fairness of the sporting contest goes - because he was spotted - it’s pretty irrelevant.

I can comfortably say if it was Hull spying on Millwall or vice versa I would not give a shit or care one jot. 
Some Saints fans are comical saying everyone now wants Boro to win.  Almost see what is wrong with society with how pathetic so many are

I keep reading about a whistle blower claiming we've been doing this all season but with nothing to back it up. It seems to have originated from a Boro fans forum where they actually name the guy and then a number of other fans come on and point out that he's a well known fruit loop who has history for this sort of thing. Is there any evidence of another whistle blower because it seems to me this is an unsubstantiated rumour that's spread and the press have just decided to run with it and not done any due diligence.

There's a lot of accounts ( on X that could include @SaintsExtra) that seem to post re-hashes of rumour and fans' forum conjecture as if it were 'news'.

I doubt the EFL would have laid a charge just on this whistleblower. Not too mention 'the spy' was approached allegedly by a Boro media team member. As said before, conflicting stuff coming out of there at the moment.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear but I wasn't suggesting the EFL laid a charge based on what the whistle blower said. I was trying to make the point that the press have run with the story but there seems no evidence other than the stuff on a Boro fan site in which they admitted the named guy is a fruit loop.
