Boro Forum in a nutshell (or nuthouse more like): Denouncing Richard Keys because he posted that our spying did not affect the outcome of the semi final, but believing what Talkshite say about their reinstatement as gospel. Mad as a box of frogs on there.

Boro fans soon to be known as Bungalows, because there’s nothing upstairs! 😉

We should just say we were spying for the 2nd leg, not the first, and outside the 72hrs. Checking on any penalty shootout choices etc.

I mean it wouldn't matter, we've sill clearly breached the rule.. However, if they were to use that as an example of 'sporting advantage', then yes - that might play a factor for mitigation.

The way we played in the first half of the second leg, i think the spy must have been looking the wrong way,

My question is why haven’t the other clubs reported it to the EFL?

Because there's a chance they might do 'spying' themselves too...?

Southampton FC would appeal.

The punishment will need to reflect the rules broken given the evidence and circumstances, not regardless of the evidence.

So the same as Leeds then plus an inflationary uplift. Be very surprised if that's all we get.

Yep, that's probably it in a nutshell.

I definitely reckon there'll be other clubs thinking "shit, we could get caught up in this next", especially if it goes to appeal and/or the scope of investigation broadens

From what I've heard from someone who worked in this area it is rife, every club does it, all the analysts know one another and it just goes on under an unwritten law that a blind eye is turned. Not sure why Boro suddenly decided to make a big deal out of it which is one of the oddest things about the whole affair. Leads me to think Taylor got involved with his old pals at Boro to get one back at us for sacking him. May be wrong but that's all I can come up with to make any sense of it. Whole thing is bizarre.

Anyone see during the warm up on Tuesday that Peretz goal kick practices ended up bouncing in the opposition half. This led to a Boro coach having a moan to our own coach.

Im surprised this was not filed as breaching rules with all the other shit.

Nah... We were told time and time again during our poor run in the first part of the season that we had a squad full of mediocre championship players, at best, that no manager on planet Earth... "Not even Pep"... Could get a tune out of... ;)

Yeah but I was pissed when I wrote all that. 😁:badger:

If we have been doing it systematically, surely it can't have been as amatuer as that photo suggests this was or we'd have been caught long ago.

Something still doesn't quite add up to me.

One theory is, we "haven't been caught before" because other clubs do it and there's been some kind of gentleman's agreement between clubs to turn a blind eye (especially outside of the 72 hour embargo period)... And that we only got "caught" this time because Gibson / Middlesbrough decided to break ranks in an attempt to unsettle us in the playoffs. As I say, just a theory....

Any theories are good

It's interesting that Salt wasn't in the two recent photos for manager of the month. It's interesting that two profiles were removed from LinkedIn. It's also interesting that Tonda seemed really keen to talk about it but couldn't

There's more to it for sure

Exactly. And essentially confirmed by Nicky Butt (a former (current? No idea) part-owner of an EFL club).

IMO: Our amazing run in was mostly because we had Premier League quality players still in our line up being played in their best positions.

Sounds like you trying to say that William Salt advised Eckert to switch to 4 at the back and sign a proper GK, and that it is infact Salt that is responsible for saving the season? 😅.

Or maybe we sacked this Middlesborough scab analyst Taylor in January, and immediatley we turned the season around. And then not content at being sacked for being shit, he's decided to try and stitch us up with Boro. Certainly fishy that he's the one involved in all this from a "whistle blower" standpoint.

In a court of law less weight would be given to his evidence as a result of his sacking and his previous connections with Boro. Can’t see why the tribunal will treat it any differently here.

Maybe the EFL need to get a grip on the fact that making up flimsy rules about what or what isn't allowed is pretty brainless if there's no stipulation of what the penalties might be if anyone were to break them.

Carry on along this path and somebody will end up bankrupting the league in a proper court.

This is very good point. If the rules stipulated points deduction or being kicked out of the playoffs no club would think of sending spies to training grounds even close to the 72 hour window.

Surely it depends on what his evidence is. I can see that being the case for witness statements but if he still has emails or anything like that it'd be a different matter.

If you mean emails from his time at Saints they will amount to confidential information. Saints would seek to exclude emails obtained as a result of a breach of contract and therefore obtained and disclosed illegally. Depends on how the tribunal view such evidence - you cannot unsee something.

As has been said before, it could well be inadmissible. If all we are being charged over is the Boro incident, and this guy was sacked 4 months earlier, then there's no evidence he could possibly provide that's relevant to the specific charge.

I'm out. The EFL & Boro can do one after this shit though. I will remind myself to laugh when the next turbulence hits.

The current story doing the rounds on the Boro forum is someone's mate works for a company that sponsors the EFL and the EFL has to let them know what's happening and this guy is privy to all the emails flying around. The EFL have told them if found guilty the only two options are Boro win the tie 3-0 or Saints forfeit the final. Either way we get kicked out. There's meant to be a voice recording of this transcript.

The Boro players were told this after the game and Hellberg knew before the game. The Saints players were also told this which is why our dressing room was silent after the game.

So it's official we are getting kicked out and it was decided before the second leg. Guess it's time to pack up our bags for the summer holidays.

Genuinely reckon its all just a big wind up from them at this stage. Fair play to them though, they have me rattled.

Yeah. I've never seen a team so desperate to win the game off the football pitch.

3-0 is the standard score if a game is forfeit as Boro would know after they didn't show up for a game in the EPL.

What is this myth that our tunnel and dressing was room was quiet after the game?

They do know we have a social media department and release the videos of the celebrations right?

How can we know Boro would have shown up to the semi-final if there were no charges against us? ;)
