You can’t just hold on to everyone to make other clubs pay more. I’ve no doubt we could have afforded a couple of million more for Falchener if we thought he was worth it. We haven’t paid it, so I can only assume he isn’t.

My guess is we bid, it was turned down, we asked what they wanted and they said at least double which priced us out of the market. I liked the look of him too, but we have only so much spending power.

I wonder if the £250,000 wages for ramsdale every month are the reason we’ve not replaced THB with a fee.  I watched the Porto away game and Forest were excellent that night.  I think he’ll do well for us, based of not a lot. But I’m more hopeful than others.

Given how long the THB deal took you would have thought we'd have been having meaningful negotiations and laying the groundwork with the Norwegian and Austrian plus their respective clubs in advance. I kinda assumed that's how these things work so that once the THB deal was finalised we'd have some framework already in place. Surely we'd have been able to establish whether either or both were viable in terms of transfer fees, wages and whether the players actually wanted to come. Doesn't seem to have happened which is baffling and means we've wasted a lot of time leaving us scrambling around in the last 30 hours of the window.

The point of my post was about general state of finances and the squad.

But in any case they are both versatile goal scoring  CMs, one with huge potential, one with huge experience and proven PL quality.

Would also like to add that it would be worrying if ‘I’ll wait until I see him play to decide if he’s good or not’ is the same position the club are taking on any transfer they are about to complete.

It's all getting a bit common here, Larin, Dobbin, Azaz when he joined, people were on his case after his early performances. Fellows, Archer. Last season, Manning and Bree copped a load. Even saw a bunch of crap when Peretz joined, although tbf, a lot of that was people taking issue to their understanding of his political views.

We've clearly missed out on our preferred targets. Seems sensible to use a loan, rather than chuck 15 mil that turn out to be duds that we can't shift, like Downs... Yes we'd have liked a bit more experience, but lets give the lad a handful of games at least.

I was trying to disprove this but it is, in fact, accurate. That's some doing. Depends on the option fee for Abbott (as to what we believe he's worth, or Forest believe he's worth) but yep, Kayi Sanda on £4 million beats Schlotterbeck and Wood.
