Have to say, Croatia disallowed goal aside, the refereeing has been generally excellent in this tournament.

Game flows so much better than the premier league. They let a lot of the physical stuff go. It’s great.

Funnily enough I think the VAR official that got involved for the Croatia one was a prem ref.

Just tuned in after a sesh and see Cape Verde score a sensational equaliser. Impressive. My fave team of the tournament. Never give up attitude.

Absolute pleasure to watch that game. CV can walk away with their heads held high and in the knowledge that there are few teams that could have come away with that result. CV’s no.13 LB and keeper (at 40) are great players.

That game just took years off my life.    Can't remember an African nation causing a sensation in world cups like that since back at school with Cameroon in 1990.     Cape Verde, seriously what the fuck.   Four games unbeaten over 90 minutes and held both European champions and World Cup winners to draws in those along the way.     Its absurd as much as it is sensational.

I'm going to watch the hour repeat on itv plus 1 now to relive what just took place and hope it doesn't interfere with work in a few hours.   That was historic but for whatever reason it left me a nervous wreck by the end.      Those that went to bed early irrespective of fan base or team support missed an epic they'll maybe regret forever.    That was incredible, obviously part of a large number that imagined Argentina would walk it and hit 6 or 7 to reach the next round.

Cape verde are for real, not sure in 4 years from now they could ever hope to match what they've just done but they've scared people as much as they are able to excite.    I wonder how far they could have gone further tonight if they'd actually got through.

Match of the tournament and goal of the tournament so far for me. Shame Cape Verde couldn't take it to pens but it wasn't for lack of trying right to the very end, genuinely could have gone either way.

The wanking off over Messi is ridiculous. Yes he is an amazing player but not every time he touches the ball is it amazing. his goal last night was described as “absolutely sensational” ffs. It was the sort of goal you’d expect any competent striker to score, move off the defender, one touch slot it home.

His 1-on-1 miss was sensational at this level, that is for sure.

It was a fantastic finish

Problem is so many games have been missed by most of us. Watched the highlights of a Colombia nil nil and looked incredible game but was 3am ko

Was great to see the never say die attitude from Cape Verde team last night, incredible performances from them throughout the tournament and especially last night. They really did go toe to toe with the world champions and the fact they were still able to push so hard for a 3rd equaliser after over 120 minutes of effort says it all. I'm sure they will all return to Cape Verde as heroes and deservedly so.

He has the touch , picks his spot to score, dribbles as though the ball is attached to his foot , creates space for himself etc . Top player even at his age , better than Ronaldo .

This could be a rather interesting game. Very different to the last few. I think they will set out to come at us, with energy being a key focus. They will expect us to tire quickly, and struggle with the altitude, which surely will play a big part. But if we get out tactics right, we should be able to counter that, and actually use it to benefit our game with more space in front, allowing us to create better chances.

Hell, I'm more excited for this than those low block bullshit performances we've struggled to overcome.

Bring it on.

I didn’t say he wasn’t. His goal yesterday wasn’t “absolutely sensational” it’s a goal I’d expect most strikers to score. It’s possible to think someone is amazing without thinking every single thing they do is amazing beyond the capability of anyone else alive you know

I get that but I was impressed in the earlier matches by his waiting for goalie to make a move then score in the space and where in another match instead of just smashing it from short range he placed it across the goalie right in the corner . Unfortunately ‘taters are over the top !

I'm expecting a very difficult match against Mexico, not because i think they are a particularly good side (they are not) but because we have not played well in this tournament so far apart from 45 minutes against a poor Croatia team and because the altitude will really make it incredibly difficult. Anyone that has holidayed in Peru and visited Lake Titicaca will have experienced the huge difference being at height makes on the human body. 90% of the group i travelled with were unwell for hours because of the change in altitude. Hopefully England win and then it's on to to Spain v Portugal and i just pray to god Spain smash Portugal and send that nauseating strutting peacock into International retirement never to be seen again!

Better than having that rat faced Cuccarella , absolute hate the thought he could win anything, complete arse of a man. The way he screamed the other day to get a foul.

So Id prefer the Peacock to the rat any day of the week
