Verbal Kint Posted 25 February, 2009 Share Posted 25 February, 2009 It's quite scary how a man who received such an excellent education can be so stupid. That's Rupert's biggest problem. It's not his arrogance or his demeanour, just the fact that he doesn't have two brain cells to rub together
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 25 February, 2009 Share Posted 25 February, 2009 Doug Ellis (Villa) A bit of an enigma really because he oversaw their decline and then their rise back through the divisions. One minute a benevolent benefactor and seemingly at one with the fans. The next minute clamping down on spending, sacking managers and reviled by many Villa fans. So when will . . Nah, I'll leave someone else to ask.

um pahars Posted 25 February, 2009 Share Posted 25 February, 2009 George Reynolds at Darlington wasn't a popular man!!!! Alex Hamilton at Wrexham (not sure if he was Chairman though). Guterman at Wrexham (and Chester). Ron Noades at various clubs (including stints as manager)!!!! Deacon & Gregory at Portsmuff. et al. We have not had a monopoly on poor Chairman/CEO's/MD's by any stretch of the imagination. For some reason Football either attracts nutters or turns normal, sane, rational people into nutters!!!!!!!! trousers Posted 25 February, 2009 Share Posted 25 February, 2009 Luciano Gaucci (Perugia) Among Gaucci’s maddest moments are trying to sign a female player, sacking South Korea’s Ahn Jung Hwang for scoring the goal that put Italy out of the 2002 World Cup and playing Serie A’s worst ever player who also happens to be Colonel Gaddafi’s son. Needless to say the club are now in bankruptcy. Jesus Gil (Athletico Madrid) The former Athletico Madrid chairman passed away in 2004 but during his 17 year reign of terror he managed to get through 39 managers, 80 court cases and threatened to ‘kill’ his players a total of three times. He was also notorious for his right-wing views and has spent time behind bars. Vladimir Romanov (Hearts) Often referred to as ‘the man who has broken Hearts,’ the Lithuanian (ahem) banker is renowned for short relationships with staff, interfering in team selection and buying a nuclear K-19 submarine. He’s currently in rehearsals to star in his country’s version of Strictly Come Dancing.

Badger Posted 25 February, 2009 Share Posted 25 February, 2009 Alan Sugar was a pr!ck;even Lowe got that bit correct. The nearest chairman to Lowe in terms of ego is possibly Ron Noades ( who did actually put himself in charge of team selection once) or Simon Jordan. I expect Wimbledon also have a pretty low - no pun intended - opinion of the f^cker who took them to MK as well, and Sam Hamman who wanted to relocate to Dublin. Are you that bitter that you have to regularly use at least one of your three daily posts stalking me? In a way I'm quite flattered, not least because I can see how much you being wrong has eaten into you. I'm sure I said something like this at one point: "Lowe should be congratulated for dragging us in to the 21st Century, as back at The Dell we in danger of being left behind in the 19th Century. The improvements in ticketing, merchandising, hospitality, etc etc etc right down to an improved view for every spectator should be applauded" I'll try and resurrect the actual post just to get you even more wound up, because as you know I have only ever criticised Lowe since he rocked up in 1996:rolleyes::rolleyes:
eurosaint Posted 26 February, 2009 Share Posted 26 February, 2009 Ernie Clay at Fulham ! He wanted to redevelop Craven Cottage and the fans felt that he was selling them 'down the river' (excuse the pun). He was regularly showered with abuse as he sat in the directors box. I can vouch for this as I was beside him on a number of occasions ! Strangely enough, in private he referred to them as the 'lunatic fringe' (or similar) and pressed on with his plans until the council rejected them out of hand and he sold up instead !! Wes Tender Posted 26 February, 2009 Share Posted 26 February, 2009 Many think that of you but it hardly puts you ahead of Peter Sutcliffe in who I most want to die. How bizarre.
