"15 Prospective buyers" - Sky Sports News - Listen Now

Baj

Recommended Posts

Administrators being interviewed live on Sky Sports News.

Say 15 interested parties in buying the club, Rupert Lowe is NOT one of them

15 ? That is excellent news. Even if 75% of those are chancers it would still leave 3 or 4 serious ones.

Here's hoping !

Trying to remember what he said, but it was something like "1 or 2 would be able to go ahead should they have the funds and the desire", or something like that.

Oh, 23.5k sold for today so far.

Not wanting to pee on any fireworks, but how many 'interested' parties are from this forum?

Not knocking anyone's efforts on here, I just hope there are 15 interested parties with real cash to spend.

TBF I would imagine the administartors would want to see proof of funding before announcing they had any interest, eg tyre kickers need not apply, although it could be a tactic to try and force certain tyre kickers out of the woodwork and see if they have the financial backing to match their mouth.

Not really the place to post but want you all to know its really busy down there today. Just been to get tckets.Northam sold out and I could only get row JJ in Chapel!! Great feel about the place. Makes you realise how important it is to thousands of people that this club lives. Just hope one of those 15 interested in buying us has the passion and the funds to put us back where we belong.

15 parties already talking to the administrator is good news. It takes time to pull together the requirements to make a bid versus an expression of interest, so to get to that level so quickly is quite an achievement.

Would be surprised if the number stops there, and if as many as 1/3rd of them were financially sound news it would be wonderful.

Wonder how many will be at the game today? Cameras at the Director's Box and check your earlobes dBase Trousers

Bored saying I told you so...

But I told you people would want to buy this club.

:)

Today feels great. I am in a red and white shirt looking forward to getting down to SMS and supporting my team - Southampton FC has just been freed from a parasitic system of strategic leadership.

Southampton FC is back after 14 odd years.

:)

Optimism returns.

They'll always be people interested.

It happens everytime a club comes up for sale - It's how many of them actually have the cash to do a deal is the most important thing.

3 by the sounds of Mr Fry's interview, and none of the 15 are Lowe. We'll be OK.

My concern here is that the tyre kickers or oportunists will ruin it for the genuine "in it for the right reasons" consortium. There is no doubt that if Barclays and Aviva can be persuaded to do a deal (as seems likely) then the acquisition of the football club is a pretty sound and reasonably cheap option. Cheap options attracts vultures. Let's hope Mr Fry knows his stuff.

I think thats fair Duncan. Certainly shouldnt get carried away. Mr Fry sounds positive - as he says he is the owner effectively - bloke's got the potential to be a Saints legend if he plays this right! :)

I am pretty sure that many of the interested "parties" have been working on this eventuallity for some time. It was no secret we were in trouble, just a question of time. I therefore believe that a number of the parties are in a strong position to make their offer very quickly and I expect that it will be sorted in priniple within the next couple of weeks.

We still have a sh*t squad though with 90% of players not up for it.

Think you will find most have spent all week on the telephone to their agents saying "Get me out of here"...

Not after the play to a packed stadium today. And Davis and Euell showing conviction by not worrying about their wages this month is significant.

Its not about just what we have now AwaySt it's about what we can now move on and do without incompetent leadership.

Administrators seem quite confident of finding a buyer within 2 weeks.

Question ??

We are (ie The Holding Company) is in Administration. That MAY be interpreted by the Football League, to include Saints, and therefore we would incur a 10 point penalty

What happens, if all goes well, and an Investor(s) are found quickly, so as to enable "Us" to come out of Administration, and "resume" as a viable Business

Is the 10 point penalty STILL applied ???

You know what - I am assuming the worst - relegation and a 10 point deduction in League 1, anything else is a bonus. And you know what... it still feels better now that optimism is back. We can build from whereever we end up now.

I share the same feeling of relief (ie No Lowe), but I also think that our current Squad CAN avoid Relegation

In that instance, the 10 point penalty would be a kick in the teeth, bearing in mind Derby got away with the same situation a few years back

So, as regards my earlier post, IF we get a New Owner PDQ, would we still have the 10 points against us THIS season ???

It is sounding positive, but let's not be carried away and hope for the first buyer. We and the administrator need to check credentials. We don't want to end up back in in the frying pan.

Meanwhile, Hey ho -it's off to Saints I go!

Just leaving for the M3 now and will be in Bedford Place for pre-match atmosphere by 1pm!

COYR!

We can do it!

Very true Duncan. There are people who will be interested as the club will be a bargain price.Doesnt mean they will be people at all interested in Saints.

Go to an auction of bankrupt stock and you will get all types bidding on stuff they wouldnt normally be interestd in because its leass than half wholesale.

I doubt that the adminstrator will worry who buys as long as it is the best price.I think some of their charges may be based on price achieved.

15 potential will probably throw up 2 or 3 genuine contenders.

ie real investors/business people with serious plans and maybe some serious money.

This is what the club needs, and this is what I have been saying.

What we don't need is people shaking buckets, running charity fun-runs and all that guff.

We are not Weymouth even though reading some posts on here that's what some people seem to want us to be: as if being some tinpot nothing club in the bottom division or the conference is somehow more noble than than being the top-two division club we've been for decades.

Put your buckets away, spend your money on your families.

Just pack the stadium. That's all that's needed at the moment.

You are a star Baj!

I was sat in my bath listening to it on my Iphone.

What an invention.

Btw I know one serious bid and thats from a Gilbrator (not sure if that is how you spell the country) consortium,, Will post more later I hope.

As a "Gibraltarian", I may just be obliged to change my monicker and my avatar if this turns out to be the right deal for the club.

BTW, it is not actually a country by a British overseas territory. ;-)

I'm still waiting for full UEFA recognition and may yet get international recognition (seeing as Burley continues to overlook me)

Not sure if the G20 decison to crack down on tax havens will adversely affect a Gibraltarian-based bid? Would just be typical, mind.

F**king "A", SaintRobbie.

With a decent owner interested in the club, we will definitely bounce back.

The pain and frustration is coming to an end. With a decent owner interested in the club, I no longer think it is the end of the world if we are relegated and get done for a few points.

Fair comment

But also bear in mind (in simple terms) we have to rent a coach to get to Watford on Monday and Wolves on Friday and then we have a gap to our next home game.

Having interest and wealthy potential buyers does not solve what has been clearly stated as the problem of keeping going UNTIL the club is sold.

That is the fans job, but it is also their choice whether to help short term or not

Southampton Football Club could still be a sound investment with proper management.

We have a huge catchment area

We have a decent stadium

We are still a known name in English football

I am not surprised 15 parties are interested, but none were before Lowe quit.

They were Alpine, they were there. For all the reasons you mentioned, they were there. We just needed to declare ourselves for sale.

You are right, but TBF, I think that all of these "ideas" were born out of a desire to do something, however small, to help the ailing club. At least the ideas were positive and positivity is something that has been sadly lacking for a good while.

How do you see the tyre kickers will "ruin it".
