Magilton sacked

Alan Shearer and Iain Dowie

Actually, that could work. Shearer needs to learn the trade in a lower division (even lower than Newcastle will be in next season). Dowie would kick players arses, and needs to restart his career. And they would attract decent players too. Plus they have Saints connections.

The only draw back is that we really could do with a manager that will commit himself for several seasons, and rebuild from nothing. We need continuity and stability as much as anything.

Forget the likes on Ince and Dowie because there is no way we could pay them a wage that would come near their expectations.

Magilton could be one that is within our price range and all things being equal - we could do a lot worse.

Paul Tisdale...he will stay forever if we match his ambition. A player who never got the breaks so has lots to prove in the game. The drive for success in him is clear to see...4 promotions already in ashort time with no money.

Get ince in,wining mentality is what we need.hes also been tested in lg1 already.no shearer thanks

Actually, Ince has only managed Blackburn in the Premier and Macclesfield and MK Dons in League 2. He has no experience of League 1.

How do you make that out ??

I bet he was on more at Ipswitch than what Miser Lowe would have paid him

Plus .... Division 1 ?? .... He wouldn't be interested anyway

Reality is, in Div 1 you do not "attract", you get what you can

We've just had a new manager thread - so I will repeat my suggestion: Gary Speed.

Only trouble is he will certainly be able to get a better position elsewhere and Saints mean nothing to him that would persuade him otherwise.

Always has been a thorn in our side.i agree that he might have what it takes Victor

Again, if Speed actually wants to get into management why wouldn't he come here if asked? Where else is he going to go? I don't see clubs falling over themselves to get someone totally unproven. Nearly all these people that keep getting mentioned on here, Magilton, Dowie, Tisdale etc would jump at the chance to come here.

Much as i would like the idea the truth is If we had them we could't afford a team! assuming we are still in business that is!

I think Tisdale would be a good choice (and said so many days ago). But IF Exeter get promoted, why would he want to leave a Div 1 club to go to another Div 1 club?

I don't suppose we could pay him more than he gets at Exeter, so what would the attraction be?

Potential. Everyone in football will agree that a financially solvent Southampton (and let's face it we will need one of them before any new manager arrives) are a bigger proposition that Exeter will ever be.

Yeah Boothroyd would get us straight back up i reckon.

Why do some of you champion this bloke so much... he is no better than Wotte.... he hasn't set the world on fire.

We need to get some one in who will do a decent job with no money and someone who doesnt make excuses all of the time.

If we are still in business next season I can see Wotte being kept on as boss to try and steady the club - be that good or bad.

However i'd still like to see Keegan here but it won't happen

Oh yeah, Tisdale leaves Exeter after yet another promotion and moves to Saints in the same division on a downward spiral. Tis may be ex-Saints but he isn't stupid. Would be good for us, but it ain't gonna happen while Exeter are doing well.

Someone on here asked Tisdale about 9 months ago if he'd be interested in coming here and he laughed at them... I think he's happy where he is.

What do you think Tisdale would do if some random asks him if he wants to manage Saints. A polite laugh is what you're going to get.

If offered the Saints job under a new regime I'd bet he'd take it. He won't get a better offer than that any time soon.

Real Madrid had something like 14/15 managers in thirteen seasons and during that period won La Liga no fewer than 8 times and were crowned Champions of Europe twice...

Continuity and stability in management are much over-rated.

Oh, I must have missed Wotte getting Watford promoted to the Premiership on no money.

Yes but they had financial clout and could buy virtually whoever they wanted.

This post seems to be slightly contradictory compared to your one of backing the new manager which I fully agree with....

Manchester City have a bigger budget than Real... how much do you want to bet with me now they finish no higher than 7th next year? ;)

How many games did hoofroyd win when watford finished bottom of prem then? Ince is the man we should get in !

How many games did Ince last before he was sacked. At least Boothroyd managed to last a full season in the premier league. Ince got found out and bombed out.
