Guided Missile

Recommended Posts

In all sincerity, I am very happy that it appears the the Pinnacle bid will go through following their acceptance of the Football League's position.

I have had a number, a large number, of instances of being wrong in my life, largely due to the large size of my mouth and the small size of my brain, but, given my deep love for Southampton Football Club, my passion, on this occasion, swamped my judgement.

That judgement seems to have been wrong and Mr. Fialka and his North London friends appear to have access to the £14M that will save our club, together with an investment plan that will help put the club back in the Premiership.

I apologise, unreservedly to Mr. Lynam and Mr. Fialka for the abuse that I have posted and hope that by supporting the club when they take over, I will be able to make amends.

Finally, I was made aware that I called Mr. Fialka a "dustbin lid". This deeply upset one of our posters who is married to a black lady and has mixed race children. He believes that that comment makes me the worst type of racist, one that didn't know he was one. I am very sorry to him and to Mr. Fialka if they found the term offensive and racist. Please forgive me in the future for any words I use that also rhyme with offensive terms.

I hope that in the spirit of reconciliation, all those that thought Mr. Fialka and Mr. Lynam were "potless" join me in apologising....

Fair play on the apology.

I don't think others need to apologise if they just "thought" something. It's those that have expressed these thoughts in offensive terms.

Actually GM I enjoyed your posts on the basis that they were forthright, earthy and seemed to contain an element of irony and, to an extent, self-parody, that was quite charming.

I think you should wait until Pinnacle actually do the business before prostrating yourself entirely because something here most definitely does not add up.

In any event their handling of the FL situation and the needless stress that this placed on the staff leads one to suspect that our history of incompetence in the boardroom is far from over.

So no more Frank Carson or Dustbin Lid Jokes then unless the bid fails?

Still you weren't the only doubtful old duffer GM:

So it's still a race:

MLT "I've spoken to the [group] owner this morning and he's confirmed that once the Football League issues have been dealt with, it will only be a matter of hours after that that we can complete a deal."

The administrator for Southampton said he was expecting to hear 'early next week' if talks with a Swiss consortium would lead to a buy-out of the club.

What do we all want. We want our club back. No more recriminations. Lets just embrace what hopefully will be the move by Pinnacle to put us back in business. The Legend will be at the top and he will NOT let us down. I can't wait to be back at SMS shouting on the boys to victory. What ever the outcome of the season it will be welcome respite. Saints forever.

GM,

I never had a problem with the content of your posts but your terminology often comes across as provocative and patronising (monkeys/organ grinders etc..) and clearly that is what some have taken exception to !

I still think though that you are premature in your self flagellation as the Pinnacle deal is still not guaranteed !

BTW my understanding of rhyming slang was that 'dustbin lid' (also saucepan lid) was a 'kid',

might be wrong but it could help to get you off the hook in your upcoming liable and slander case !!!!

:)

Call me naive but what is racist about a dustbin lid?

Personally I am still worried - the quote above

"An unnamed source said: “I’m honestly shocked. It’s more shocking than Michael Jackson’s death. He’s one of the best talker s you’ll ever meet.

“I imagine he’s a front man with someone else’s money as he doesn’t have the trappings of a wealthy individual. He must be working with some very wealthy people.”

What if he isn't a front man and is the only man? He's got the gift of the gab and access to just enough to buy the club, but not enough cash to do anything with it?

I'll give anything a chance, but we really know very little about the bid other than some warm words and (so far) slipping deadlines.

I will look forward to your positive comments when the deal finally goes through :D

Whereas we felt that the FL were not allowing us a 'level playing field' might it be prudent for us fans, one and all, to go one better than the FL and afford our prospective new owners a level playing field.

Then, when the honeymoon period is over we can criticise?

I'm all for trying it.

Thats the 1st time I have read that and it still only says that the group are prepared to let the -10 points go if the league wont give in. That sounds like they are still expecting the league to listen to there requests. And there are other issues that they hope the league will sort out. Only then will they be ready to sign!!!!!

A couple of days ago the only thing left to sort out was the -10 points so what "other things" are they now wanting done?

The way everyone is talking today is if the Pinnacle bid is defo going to happen and all things will be brilliant again. What am i missing?????

Well done to GM though. He can be like a bull in a china shop sometimes but when he thinks he is wrong he at least will come out and admit it. Many others disapear and hope no-one notices they have gone. eh St David? lol

Respect on two fronts. Firstly for being able to have sex for two hours...my forearm usually cramps up after 45 minutes and secondly for making a wonderful apology that is so complete in its contrition that you can only win which ever way the Pinnacle story unfolds. Clever.

GM; I commend you for the apologies. Your language has been very inappropriate to say the least. I do think however that the assumption that all will be well with the Pinnacle deal seems somewhat premature. We've had this kind of "all will be done in days" quotes before from them.

Fair play for the apology GM, but you may be jumping the gun a bit with regards to all being well should Pinnacle's takeover go through. We've been here before and now it's time for Pinnacle to deliver.

I really hope that Pinnacle do have the funds and that they can complete the deal. I still remain sceptical, but time will tell. Here's hoping that all goes well and we haven't been lied to all along.

I thought dustbin lid was poor ****ney rhyming slang for kid....never considered it racist.

Trivia Corner - in a song called The Other Me on Paul McCartney's Pipes Of Peace album from 1983 he sings a line "and i acted like a dustbin lid" - ie kid.

If Macca wasnt accused of racism then in fairness niether should GM :)
