KK.

WGS was good for us in the past, but I fear the "going back" might not work for him and us.

If its not KK, then Strachan would however still be preferable to some of the dulllards previously listed ie Dowie,Coppell, and Curbishley.

either

makes you laugh when you throw in a Tisdale with these two...lol

If you are looking for a manager to build and commit to the club for any length of time then Tisdale would be a far better option than either KK or GS in my view.

its a tough one this, fact of the matter is i would be delighted with either keegan or strachan. i go along with the earlier comments that my heart says keegan but head says strachan. either one of these 2 though will really get things buzzing and the most important signing will be in place. the feel good factor would continue, crowds would be flocking to st marys and our journey back to the premier league would be well and truely underway

Strachan over Keegan, but would be absolutely delighted with either. Part of me still thinks that we're going to get an unknown foreign manager. He may have a half decent record abroad, but I'm not really expecting a 'household name' like many others are.

I still have a feeling he may be coming. Out of interest who would you rather have, strachan or king kev?

Could we have both?

KK'e enthusiasm coupled with WGS ability to get players in good condition and knowledge of defence could be a great combination (KK as DoF, WGS as Manager)

Why? A very promosing young manager with a good record, a fairly experienced manager with a mixed record but recent stint at big club in rubbish league, or an older manager with links to club, big name but mixed record and little recent achievement.

All quite different, all with their risks, but all excellent appointments for league 1 if we get one.

how is he experienced at this level and beyond...

his highlight is getting a team promoted to league 1 from league 2..

wow

Although Strachan did fantastic here and got the team very fit the football was a bit robotic at times.

KK would have us playing exciting stuff and has a brilliant promotion track record (as far as I know). He'd get us back to the prem.

However he's getting older and I'm wondering if he'd be better at DoF with a young, hungry, energetic and driven protige under him - one that commands huge respect amongst players and fans, knows KK extremely well, is currently available and has strong connections to SFC - step forward Alan Shearer........

Strachan's record in League One is non existant, and I'm uncertain about how good he'll be at motivating players to the rubbish evening away games at poor grounds. Keegan's L1 record is good (Fulham). He got them promoted with money, and played lovely football in the process. We have money so now i'd say definately Keegan. I also feel he may draw in more supporters and be more high profile a manager so be able to attract more players.

(Saying that i was very sceptical about when Strachan first came to us!)

do you not think that WGS has got the tools to get us out of this league..

by that...fergie, Wenger and Raffa dont have a league 1 record...i have a sneaky feeling they would get us promoted too

Keegan would be my first heart choice for the excitement it would create, that he hasn't managed us before, and as my childhood hero. WGS would also be a choice from the heart more than the head as I still think it's unlikely he'd come, along with the "Never go back" factor - but I'd be over the moon with either, or Hoddle for that matter.

As for what the head says... I really have no idea!

BTW - what have I missed about Klinsmann? Why are some people slating him?

The problem with Strachan is that he has stated he will never overstay his welcome (as he did at Coventry) so would only stay here 3 years at tops. We need someone for the long haul. Also, he was very reluctant to use young players from the academy. He did well here but knew he had taken us as far as he could and frankyl I seem to remember quite a few fans suggesting it was time for a change.

Keegan would give us a good attacking football and entertaining to watch but again he does not have a record of staying anywhere long.

Hoddle actually addresses most of these concerns but seems set up now with his own academy.

Personally, I would go for Tisdale or Coppell (watch out for thw long ball game though - he was Branfoots mentor!!) but the European coach idea has legs too.

Honestly..... i'm unsure whether he does have the tools. His success lies in one good season with us and four good seasons with Celtic. Arguably, one may even say his record at Celtic is sketchy. He narrowly acheived titles against a poor Rangers side who had significantly less money than Celtic. He did acheive those titles tho.....

To be fair, i dont see him saying yes to us anyway. If he failed with us his reputation would be in tatters. If he succeeded, people would have expected him to. He'd be going from glorius 60,000 stadiums and Champions League to nothing near that. The only draw is his local house.....

why do we...?

seriously...how many managers stay for the long haul..? very very very few..

I would be happy if he just got us out of this league and said thank you very much..im off to the prem.

it IS possible for the club to build over 5 years or so with say two different managers...

I would rather we got out of league 1 pretty damn quick and worry about the long haul stuff another time..

you do realise he has a better record than martin o'neil..

to get celtic to beat AC Milan and reach the knock out stages of the CL and puching AC Milan to extra time in the San Siro is sketchy...then that will do for me..

...and a bunch of seasons keeping Coventry in the Prem, until he had the team sold from under him.

Strachan has just had nearly 5 years at Celtic so I dont buy this he is not a stayer, If he is given the backing and he gets a bit of success I am sure he would be more than happy to come back to St Marys. Family life is very important to Gordon and his wife is very happy in the south , Hence why they kept the house at Warsash. I think if Gordon is the man that our Swiss benefactor fancies then there is a better than 75% chance we will get him, Time will tell

head says KK. Heart says alex ferguson (no brainer surely), those with rose tinted specs say WGS...

That's quite a frighteningly skewed view... especially "head says Keegan". As for trying to identify what it is that makes you feel Ferguson has an emotional long-standing love of Saints, I think you may have your head where your heart is and vice versa, you should get that looked at - and don't do any headers.
