sussexsaint Posted 8 September, 2009 Share Posted 8 September, 2009 Do you think the OS will bother reporting or will it just be a case of watching the team sheets come Saturday I would have hoped we'd have heard by now - how long can these things take? merrimd Posted 8 September, 2009 Share Posted 8 September, 2009 I'd be more woried about Jaidi seen as he's already been refused a permit once and I'm not sure what grounds we have for appeal. Thinking back it seemed he was never refused a work permit, we never applied for it as it was thought at the time that it would fail. My reading of the situation, fwiw, is that we have consulted with employment lawyers who have told us how to get the permit through, and so have filled out the form and sent it off. Fingers crossed, but I would be incredibly suprised if we had signed him, knowing there may be a problem initially, without sorting that problem first. As far as I recall the club never did make an application for a work permit - they just came out with some wishy-washy guff about the potential for work permit problems (probably as a smoke screen to the real reasons for the delay in completing the deal).....last bit being pure speculation on my part don't you know. Saints foreva Posted 8 September, 2009 Share Posted 8 September, 2009 I'd be more woried about Jaidi seen as he's already been refused a permit once and I'm not sure what grounds we have for appeal. We never applied for the permit in the first place. We must be confident of him getting one if we've signed him. Even if it failed we'd still have to pay him if he didn't agree on his contract being cut short.

Saint Charlie Posted 8 September, 2009 Share Posted 8 September, 2009 Great news, bring him on in the last half hour against charlton. No thanks. Wes Tender Posted 8 September, 2009 Share Posted 8 September, 2009 All this talk about work permits for Jaidi continues, but nobody has convinced me that he needs a work permit having been here for over five years. At that stage, he could apply for an Indefinite Leave to Remain Visa, as per the attached info on the Border and Immigration website. However, that states that if the ILR Visa is not applied for, then he would have to reapply using the new points based system. I wonder whether that is the problem. If he applied for the ILR, 75% of cases are settled within 4 working weeks. Again, that could be the delay accounted for. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/tier2/sportspeople/

I reckon a couple of them may come off the sub's bench. Well it aint going to make things worse than the last match. We were awful last week and need a change. I would play holmes as mills crossing was poor. Waigo needs to be upfront so teams cant play a high line against us.

I reckon a couple of them may come off the sub's bench. To be fair, its not as if they'd be breaking up a winning formula. I'd definitely go for Waigo and Jaidi providing they are fit enough. Whilst I'm at it, I liked the look of Holmes when he played last year as well. I think he'd be a better option than Mills seeing as we desperately need a win. My side at the moment providing every one is fit and firing on all cylinders would look something like; ------------------Davis---------------------- Murty-----Trotman-----Jaidi----------Harding --------------------------------------------- ----James-------Hammond-------Holmes------ --------------------------------------------- ------------------Lallana--------------------- --------------------------------------------- -----------Lambert-----Waigo--------------- Lallana is probably one of the most talented players in this division. It is no good nullifying him by playing him in a position he is "average" at or "can do a job" in. The team should be played around him. He's not an out and out forward and he's not a winger. Get him in the space behind the forwards and let him cause havoc. I reckon that team, in this division would win a lot more games than it would lose.
