OK so we are 10 or so games in and still at the bottom of the table. Despite that, Ive still seen people post that we can push on for promotion; and some that say we are certs for relegation.

So, vote in the poll for where you EXPECT us to finish this season, not where you WANT us to finish (I would assume we would all like to finish top - well most of us!)

Be interesting to see what the real consensus is.

Ooh, can we do this again after our next win, so we can compare the results ?

That's assuming our next win is soon, if it's December or 2010 I think I'd rather not know.

I hope we end up above 14th otherwise it will be the worst football league finish in our history :-(

Actually as that was in Div 3 South and there was an equivalent Div 3 North with the same number of teams we'd have to finish 28th out of the 24 teams in this division to match it.

Somehow I think that's slightly unlikely...

Relegation places. My honest opinion currently

What's it based on though ? We've played 4 of the top 6 and none of the bottom 6 (5 excluding us), and haven't lost to anyone below 8th (and even they haven't lost at home yet).

The effort and drive of the team, and the quality of the players comprising that team is significantly and tangibly better than it was even for the first match of this season, never mind last season.

We're not even in the bottom 4 on 10-match form without the 10 point deduction now.

If we play like the first 65mins on tues we will murder teams (not literally as we would then have no team as they would be in jail....). Bristol are one of the hardest teams to play in this league. An interesting thing is i spoke to one of their fans and they mentioned that their manager has actually lost 60 of his 150 games or so for them. He has been their since 2005 and built his team, they are now seeing the benefits of being patient. In some regards i think the same thing is happening to us. We in this first season in league one might lose as many as we win. But the following season we will have a better team and more experience, which is vital.

So i expect the club to finish between 13th and 18th. I do not expect anything more then that.

This year was a write off the momment we went into admin and had no pre-season. I think we will finish the season strong and take that into next season. And next season my expectations will be promotion.

This season has a long way to go. Regardless of the whingers we are playing well and the table is not a true reflection of how things are. We are better then most clubs in this league but we are not entitled to beat them simply because were Southampton and we have a big stadium, speak to any Leeds fan and they will tell you how hard this league can be. If we are out of the bottom 4 by xmas we can then look at getting to mid-table. If were not then another relegation battle is on the cards.

But i think people have to be realistic. We will not be getting relegated. We will finish comfortabally away from the danger zone. I think only a few people truely expected to get promoted this year.

That is what I think to but with only one league win in ten or so games it is difficult to believe sometimes.

I wonder what fans of other clubs we have played think

Top end of midtable for me.

Our slow start to the season has stopped anything remotely successful happening, but i can envisage us having a really strong end to the season and eventually finishing somewhere between 10th - 15th IMO.

We've got too much to do to finish in a play off place (we need league winning form tbf) but top half midtable will be acceptable, as it will mean we have had a strong end to the season - ready to kick on for next year.

Anything like bottom half mid-table, just above the relgation places will be awful IMO - as it will mean we've still been loosing games regularly.

It was still our lowest ever league finish,in that case what is our lowest ever football league finish then? We also finished 14th in Div 3 1n 1959,

why so many think we will be **** this year then suddenly amazing next is beyond me

Not sure what others think but reason i think that is basically because by that time we will have gone through 2 transfer windows and a pre-season.

Our squad as a whole is pretty big. We have some good players. But we also have some crap players. Players who do not want to be here i.e Saga.

In january i would expect a fair few will be moving on. Maybe some will be released i,e Molyneux,Pullis,Forecast etc.. I also think some players like Lallana could potentially go in january if they are doing well.

By the start of next season we will have had experience of League One. It is a tough league. We will have been to the darkest corners of this country ala Carlisle and know now what to expect. But we will have a squad of players brought in to get this club promoted, players who want to be here and players who hopefully will be consistent. Something we have not had in a longtime.

The reason why this season has low expectations is simply down to what happened in pre-season i.e going into admin. If you don't plan properly for anything then it will normally cost you for it. In anything that is proffesional you cannot expect to just turn up and hope for the best.

I think it is about being realistic and frankly people expecting the manager to be fired or us to win the league etc.. are not thinking realisticly.

Rather wishful thinking really.

We are 10 games in, nearly a quarter of the way through. Plenty of time to go but the delayed start of the season plus the -10 really was damaging for us in terms of the early part of the season.

Good post, though I reckon that Pardew will be very keen to keep hold of Lallana, especially if he carries on playing the way he did on Tuesday.

Me, I reckon an upper-mid-table finish is feasible; maybe better, but that would be exceeding my expectations.
