Fergie Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Anyone know how many tickets the club have sold? I'm expecting Charlton will bring a couple thousand supporters for this one perhaps? Should be a decent cround and a good atmosphere i feel. If we beat charlton then our hardest opponents are out the way for the southern section so thinking this is a make or break game to get to the final. I'm making the effort and getting the train down from Chichester for the game with a couple mates, was just wondering if anyone had heard a rough attendence estimate or not?? Shroppie Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Think that if we get past this one, Norwich will be the biggest obstacle before Wembley. sandwichsaint Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 A re-match against Swindon would be sweet and would hopefully show how far we've come. I'm assuming it's a 2-legged semi after this round? You would have to think that if we win on Weds and avoid Norwich we have a v realistic chance of Wem-ber-ley. Clifford Nelson Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 I smell a tough game tomorrow night and if the boys aren't really up for it we won't win it. Charlton is a really decent team with CCC ambition, at the top of the table. At the top of our game we'll have them, but otherwise.....
Saint_John Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Think that if we get past this one, Norwich will be the biggest obstacle before Wembley. Got a league game against them too in a week or two, and that will be a test of where we reaaly are. It is interesting that in their 7-0 win at the weekend they managed to get their top goalscorer and one of their main playmakers booked just before they were taken off (score 5-0 or 6-0 at the time). With those bookings both those players (Holt & Lappin) went to 5 bookings for the season and will now serve a one match ban tonight in the JPT, rather than have them missing for a league game. This suggests that their main FOCUS is the League and I would not be surprised to see them lose tonight at swindon.

As of 2 or 3 days ago they'd sold around 150 tickets, I would imagine that's gone up a bit since but with their tradition of travelling support I'd be amazed if it reached 500 for this competition. Saint Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 It's not a particularly long trip from London so they could bring a fair few. The fact that it's on TV also might mean some won't come. I reckon 12,000 total attendance will be about right. I just wish the whole stadium was open, looked a bit underwhelming seeing all those empty seats for the Torquay game. corsacar saint Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Charlton will definately be up for this game, due to their cup demise at the weekend. Saints probably will not in the grand scheme of things, so I will not be in the least bit surprised to see an away win tomorrow night.[Also the law of averages says we are due a defeat]. I have no real problem with that as long as we continue to progress up the table in the league, starting with another 3 points on sunday.[Tough one again due to being localish derby and the naming of their new manager today]. Or on the other side of the coin, they could be lacking confidence and they may also not play a full strength side. We may play a strong team, we're confident, scoring lots of goals, and might be more interested in doing well in the JPT than Charlton, as they are going for automatic promotion. Neil Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 The Northern Section is much easier though! Apart from Leeds; Accrington, Carlisle and Bradford. 7/1 with Stan James if anyone fancies a punt on us. Maybe a small wager before tomorrow's game, bearing in mind we're still likely to have to beat Charlton, Norwich & Leeds to win this. (MK Dons are absolute pony, but are likely to be even more awkward and niggly if we have to play them again in this)
Gigersaint Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 norwich or Mk Dons away would be tough... When visiting my stepsons a couple of weeks ago I took them to see MK Dons against Bristol Rovers, they may have won 2-1 but I didn't see anything that we should be concerned about should we get them away if we beat Charlton. Neither side commanded the game, and a lot of wayward passing in midfield didn't give either side many chances in the final third, If anything they looked worse than they did against us (Although I was often distracted by checking scores at Brisbane Rd every five minutes) along with a poor and very quiet home support. Was nice to read their Matchday programme and listen to their fans comments of their defeat to Saints the week before with a smile to myself while amongst them all the week after. (Heard lots of good comments about us ) They do have quite a decent stadium though with a huge circular concourse that overlooks the pitch, the cushioned seats with a decent amount of legroom are a nice touch too.
