the saint in winchester Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 Did I read/hear somewhere over the weekend (think it was BBC Gossip column yesterday) that Nigel Quashie is going on loan from West Ham to MK Dons, and West Ham are still stumping up £20k wages when he's out on loan? Would we consider a last minute request ourselves to take on that deal, or better it? I'm thinking he could play the defensive midfielder role in front of the back 4. Some have misgivings about Wotton, but I do feel we need a steely no nonsense guy in that role. I think he only left us as he wanted higher level footie, but if he's considering MK Dons, let's get in there too.
stevegrant Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 Disruptive influence, not needed. He was told by West Ham to stay away from the club altogether, not even to train with the youth team!
ottery st mary Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 He is not worth 2 grand a week now..let alone 20 grand...Hasn't played for such a long time and was never any good in the first place......Plus you'll end up getting relegated with him anywhere near your team. Agents involved here and an old mucker of Ince... Not even as good as Wotton, Spiderman and not good enough for our reserves. 20 grand a week..beggars belief what he was on when he was here last time....Vastly overated. Andy_Porter Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 Perfect sort of player for Ince and his dirty niggly side. Would rather have Lloydy, Schneiderlin or Hammond in midfield than Quashie.
lordswoodsaints Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 I think he was given a rough ride by some down here and it wasn't justified,he did well for us but I think the whole relegation thing clouded the view of a few people. I'd have him back,he's not scared of a tackle and he looks after the youngsters on the pitch.

I'd have him back,he's not scared of a tackle and he looks after the youngsters on the pitch. Agreed . I've no idea of his current level of ability as I've not seen him play recently but the Nigel Quashie of a few years ago is exactly the type of midfield hard man we need to back Hammond up . We lost the midfield at times on Saturday in all honesty , Morgan Schneiderlin for all his occasional flashes of talent may be a bit of a luxury we can't afford in the more hard fought games . corky morris Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 No thanks - I heard he was a terrible influence & i didnt think he was a team player. Lost count of the amount of times he blamed other people for mistakes & took absolutely no responsibility for his own failings. IMHO he was one of our worst signings ever. Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 Another example of the football world gone mad' date=' that sort of money for Quashie is lunacy[/quote'] My thoughts entirely. He was a good box to box steely midfielder and that is pretty much what we need at the moment in 4-4-2 world. But not him (and I don't honestly think he would come back anyway). Chin Strain Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 He should never pay for this club again, after his missed penalty at QPR in his last game (I think). He just wandered up the pitch not giving a toss, whilst QPR broke up the other end. I also heard that Doddy smacked him in the mouth after one stroppy incident. benjii Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 Much better player than anyone we've got in centre midfield in his day but I fear he's a bitter old hasbeen with personality issues now.
Crab Lungs Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 Quashie stopped being effective for Saints when he self-styled himself as penalty/free kick/corner kick taker .... that really annoyed me because he clearly wasn't good enough. Stick to what you're good at, Nigel.

Arizona Posted 23 November, 2009 Share Posted 23 November, 2009 One of the first players Burley got rid of when he joined, apparently for being a disruptive influence. Apparently he shouted his mouth off once to often and shortly after Burley joined Prutton gave Nigel a good smack. Can't say whether that's true, it was just a rumour at the time, but these rumours seem to have followed him round.

oxfordshire_saint Posted 24 November, 2009 Share Posted 24 November, 2009 He's a grade A prima donna, not the sort of person we should risk disrupting the squad with. As soon as we got relegated he was hawking himself round to Premier League sides, went up to Brum but asked for too much cash, so stuck it out with us and said he owed to the fans to stay after we'd gone down. The Franchise are welcome to him.

stevegrant Posted 24 November, 2009 Share Posted 24 November, 2009 not the greatest player but always wanted the ball Unfortunately most of the time he wanted (demanded) the ball from team-mates, he was stood in the centre circle while they were 40 yards further forward. CB Saint Posted 24 November, 2009 Share Posted 24 November, 2009 Would rather plasy with ten men than have him back. She said I was her favourite. Has Nigel played any games in a long time.....He is at the best place MK Dons. Surely we are after Essien or Mascherano. CWD Posted 24 November, 2009 Share Posted 24 November, 2009 Didnt Prutton punch him in the face once at half time? I remember hearing that NQ went down to the dressing room when the team was losing (i guess he was injured) and started mouthing off about how bad they were playing and DP told him to **** off and hit him! Of course this is probably complete fantasy and never happened but great story
