Norwich City build up...

Yes we have a game tomorrow, easy to forget as im sure we'd all love to bathe in the glory of 3 points at the weekend for a little longer.

So what do people thing the line up will be like tomorrow evening? If I were AP i'd stick out our best available team, which is probably what started against Tranmere at the weekend. I know its "only" the jpt but it’s the area semi and it would be lovely to go all the way in a cup competition for once. Can’t add up in my head how the game will pan out score wise because Norwich are a funny old side this season.

Ill go with 3-3 at the end of play, Saints win on penalties.

I want Pardew to put out a full side and win this. Massive confidence boost before the Leeds game, which incidentally is a game I don't mind if we lose so long as we play well.

How we do does depend on the starting line up, but we can win this.

I'll be there, and I'm looking forward to it.

Odd it's not on Sky

They've shown every other round and then they get to the semi's with 2 of the better teams playing each other and they give it a miss

it's because there is a mid-week premiership programme, so that takes priority over any live tv coverage.

The JPT is only ever shown if there are no other live sport events.

Hearing Lamberts interview makes it sound like the team is treating this really seriously and are going all out for the win.

Its key we win this to go into the Leeds game in full confidence. Last thing to risk is 2 defeats in a row, with a tricky Xmas ahead. I'd start the same team as Sat with the exception of Antonio.

No there is not another leg FFS. We really do have some idiots that follow the Saints. F'kin clueless

No need to get aggressive towards him, I had already told him.

Alot of Saints fans may have thought the Norwich game was over two legs because the stadium announcer at St Mary's on Saturday kept saying it was two legs. You would think he would know but clearly didn't and many would have been left with the impression it was over two legs. After being told that by a member of Saints staff why would they doubt it or check?

No, we have complete thickos that have no grasp of what really is going on. Has anyone seen them complete and utter tools that wear santa hats at away games? The ones that sing the Laurel and Hardy song at the stewards and shout "pork" inbetween it. Well that is the sort of reply one of them would come up with. PORK PORK PORK FFS

The early rounds are all single games to the finish, the final of the Northern and Southern sections (which is really the semi final) is over 2 legs and then the real final is a one-off again ! So fecking logical really, I don't understand how anybody became confused (particularly if the stadium announcer ****ed it up as well !)

When will Saints fans wake up to the colourful world of Johnstones Paints ?

Schneiderlin, Jaidhi, James, Hammond and Harding are all on 4 bookings.

I really think we need all of them to have any chance of getting a result at Leeds, and to be honest they're all liable to pick up cards in games. TOugh one to call; I really want to have our strongest possible team out at Leeds but I also want to progress in the JPT. I guess it depends whether or not these 5 players can manage 90 minutes without committing a bookable offence.

I have to say I was amazed that none of the other 4 got themselves a 'tactical' card against Tranmere. Dan could have taken his shirt off when he scored!

There are 4 more games till the 'ámnesty' to kick in at the end of the month, no way will they all go 4 games without somebody picking up a booking.

Just play the strongest team and accept the fact we may pick up a ban or two. As I said earlier, for me Colchester is a much more important game to win than Leeds. There is no way we can catch Leeds, but Colchester may be catchable.

Given the choice if we had to lose key players for one of these fixtures it would have to be Leeds for me. Obviously I'd rather not lose any, but not by simply not picking them ... in that case they may as well be serving a ban anyway

Here are the rules of the competition:

5.1.2 First Round: Where appropriate the Board shall arrange for Football League Clubs to

be awarded such number of byes as are necessary to regulate the number of Matches.

The First Round draw will be conducted by dividing the requisite number of Clubs

equally into two sections - Northern and Southern, then subdividing each section

again. Clubs will be drawn in couples within each section and shall compete on a

knock-out basis with the first drawn Club playing at home.

5.1.3 Second Round: The winners from the First Round and those Clubs awarded byes

shall then be divided into two Sections - Northern and Southern, with those sections

being subdivided again. Clubs will be drawn in couples within each section and shall

compete on a knock-out basis with the first drawn Club playing at home.

5.1.4 Area Quarter-Finals: These shall consist of the 16 winners from the Second Round and

matches will be played on a knock-out basis with the first drawn Club playing at home.

5.1.5 Area Semi-Finals: These shall consist of the 8 winners from the Area Quarter-Finals and

matches will be played on a knock-out basis with the first drawn Club playing at home.

5.1.6 Area Finals: These shall consist of the 4 winners from the Area Semi-Finals. Each tie

shall be played over two legs, the first drawn Club playing at home in the first leg.

5.1.7 Final: This shall consist of the two winners from the Area-Finals. The Final shall be

played on a neutral ground to be determined by the Board. The Board shall have the

authority to decide that the Final Tie be played on a Sunday.

Yes good point, I suppose they have to be suspended at some point.

Trottman talking as if he is definitely playing here though http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1905030,00.html

I maintain that no self respecting defender or midfield player can guarantee

playing 90 minutes without getting a booking. In the heat of the action you can make a badly timed challenge or be over vigorous without any intention. Bookings are part and parcel of football. The fact that we've now gone 25 matches or so and only had 1 player suspended and no reds (unless Lancashire got a game somewhere) just shows that we're not a dirty side.

If you look at Harding,Jaidi,Schneiderlin,James and Hammond they've all played most of the games, so they're picking up about booking every 5 or 6 games. They are not getting serial booking but that doesn't mean that they won't get one tomorrow or Saturday.

Maybe, but Saints are more likely to catch Colchester if they pick up a point (or three) at Leeds as opposed to picking up none.

Defeatist attitude...

If we beat them Saturday then they will be a mere 19 points ahead of us with 72 remaining.

They will be weakened and distraught, we will be drinking blood.

I still think we might nick it. ;)
