Team for Tuesday?

Time to look to the next game - the "derby". What strength team are people expecting to be fielded?

I want this season to be solely about the league, forget the cup competitions, we had our fun with that last season, but having drawn Bournemouth and seeing how much their fans are desperate to beat the "scummers" I would love us to smash them.

Looking at Pardew's comments it seems Rickie won't feature (saving him for MK), Lallana will play some part but no word on the rest of the team. I would like Bart to be given a go in goal having pledge his future and following one of Kelvin's poorer displays yesterday. I anticipate the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain will get a look-in and I hope for a relatively strong team to bounce back from the defeat to Plymouth.

I think we should go all out to win every game we play.

Of course, but it depends if Pardew wants to risk certain players. It sounded as though Rickie was close to making the bench for Plymouth, and therefore you'd expect him to be fit for Bournemouth, but Pards may be holding him back so he's 100% for MK Dons.

I reckon we'll see a few changes, it will probably look something like this

Bart

Butterfield - Seaborne - Fonte - Dickson

Oxo - Hammond - Wotton - Mills

Barnard Connolly

i'd expect to see Lallana come on as a sub again, wouldn't want to risk him from the start just yet. We'll probably get to see a couple of the other younger lads at some point.

AP said in the interview that Ricky SHOULD be fit for mk so that tells me he won't be playing Tuesday night.

Sure I also saw him say somewhere yesterday that Lambo was 3 days away from full fitness, which take us nicely up until Tuesday.

Drop KD - goal was his fault as he didn't need to come off his line and his kicking was carp.

Drop Jaidi to let him know he's not a definite. Either Martin or Seaborne in.

Apart from that, injuries permitting I'd let the same team play as they will be desperate to put it right.

Also Bournemouth end nearly sold out according to their fans, hopefully it will be a decent home turnout

any idea how many they have actually sold? if they bring 4k then fair play, that is the same as almost their entire home support, still dont think the attendance will be more than 16k

we'd better get a good turn out then because otherwise its going to be a bit of a shambles on our behalf. the tickets are cheap and we wnat an atmosphere.

I think the attendence will be similar to saturday but would hope with it being a derby as such that we'd get closer to 25,000 than 20,000

Having lost at home on Saturday I think it will be a major mistake not to pick a first choice starting line-up for this game. Yes, cup matches can get in the way of promotion and had we won our first league game I would have agreed on some changes. However, we really need the first choice team to play in as many games as possible starting Tuesday. We failed to do this in pre-season games so it is no surprise that the team did not hit the ground running. Now they need to be playing together so that they gel. Future progress in this cup is unimportant but I feel we should make the most of the Bournemouth game, put out as strong a starting line-up as possible and try to beat them comfortably with a few goals. That will generate the confidence and momentum we missed out on by starting so poorly. Playing games at this stage of the season builds fitness and understanding so every game is vital. However, I fear AP will take the soft option and ring the changes then expect us to somehow crank it up against MK Dons - might backfire on him.

I understand the arguments for playing a strong team, but I'd rather not risk key players. Also, I think we need to be able to trust some of the fringe players if we're building a good squad. I'd go for:

Bart

Butterfield - Seaborne - Fonte - Mills

Puncheon - Wotton - Schneiderlin - Holmes

Connolly - Barnard

Subs: Davis, Lambert (if fit), Lallana, Dickson, Martin, McNish, Oxlade-Chamberlain

Depending on how it goes, we can either strengthen or give other youngsters a chance.

Agreed, Forget the Cups, the League should be the ONLY aim

Field the "Reserves"

We have too many injury's as it is

We need to put out the strongest side available, the last thing we want is the team from coffin dodgers town is to come to SMS and get a result.

Great reasoning

So, three more First Teamers get crocked, and are out for the MK Dons game

Brilliant !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stuff the Cup(s), we made that mistake last season

That's why we are still a Division One Team

Getting a win here is massively important for morale, it would have taken a huge blow on Saturday after dominating the game so much but to come away with nothing, a win will make the players have a bit more confidence again and forget about the Saturday result.

A loss will beat them down heavily!

How do you feel losing to Bournemouth would effect the morale of team and fans ?

How well would be prepared for the MK dons match ?

could not give a **** about the JPT, and unless we sneal through I feel the same about the league cup. The league is all that matters this season (although I do expect us to put out our best side for the FA cup as room is provided for those fixtures)

Bart

Butterfield Martin Seaborne Mills

Chamberlain Wotton McNish Holmes

Doble Lallana

Can't believe people would rest so many players. Pardew won't- he needs results to keep his job and we need to get Bournemouth as their fans won't stop going on if we don't.

Great opportunity for players to gain form and confidence. I would bring in Seaborne for Jaidi and Lallana for Dickson. Same team otherwise.

We need a win, a strong side is vital. A win tomorrow should kick start our season, plus i couldn't stand to see 4 thousand bournemouth fans to my left going aboslutely mental when i know our team is so much better than theirs.

I think we need to ditch the 4-4-2 while Lambert is out, get back to dominating games on the deck and outplay a far weaker side. Seaborne needs some games to get his fitness up and Jaidi can't be expected to play every game.

Really want AP to put out a strong side, as I now live in Bournemouth, literally 5 mins on foot from their ground , we really really need to beat them

just to shut them up for a bit at least. Can't stand the thought of losing, just can't !!!!!!!!! So come on boys, understand the importance of this game for some of those

Saints supporters who now have the pleasure of living up the road, with the "coffin dodgers"

You must be near me. Boscombe is a terrible place.

I would estimate a crowd of about 8k. Saturday would have put many off and carling cup games are rarely that worth bothering with. JPT will probably get bigger crowds.

Don't be ridiculous. Bournemouth have sold 4k on their own. We've probably sold over 10k already.

I work in Bournemouth, so it's got to be a strong side, please! In all seriousness, I agree with one of the other posters in regards to the pre season; the first XI have not had alot of time together so far so I think we should play as strong a team as possible.

Saints had more than that for a pre season friendly this summer.

Bournemouth have sold 4,000 themselves. Yet you think only 4,000 Saints fans will turn up for a competitive game against a local team when prices are also much cheaper?
