Saints Have offered Adam a Big Wadge, Apparently.....

We have offered Adam a big wadge of cash according to my 'Insider', (which I didn't even know I had) to stop him going to Birmingham. And it's big, Huge, Ginormous and Massive.......Aledgedly.

Cue the 'We already know' brigade.

But forgiveness if this is old news, I have been down a hole for the last week, (and NO, i'm neither Chilean nor a minor)

I'm pretty sure this "ginoumous wadge" would have been offered by a Birmingham fan.

A big increase in wages or a one off re-signing bonus?

Good news to confirm we've definitely made him a formal offer, and that it's a generous one. I don't see it changes much in the short term though; it's still very much in AL's interests to see his current contract out to the summer and make a decision then. He can then either decide to re-sign with us if we go up, or with one of what will likely be a number of potential suitors from the leagues above.

Of course, if he's a home town boy and just doesn't want to move it would great for us to have him put pen to paper. But very unlikely IMO.

It's only the Daily Heil, but they confirm the story.

Not mention of how to spell Ginormous though.

Doesn't confirm it. ;)

Opening post says Saints "have offered" and the Daily Mail says Saints are "ready to offer".

The Daily Mail article was also online 10 hours before this thread was started!

Maybe the article was published, Saints then made the offer, then this thread was created?

Two pedantic points:

1) Always proofread your thread title before posting.

2) Ginormous is a combination of gigantic and enormous; therefore, spell it as ginormous.

That is all.

Thanks for that. I wont look to use my blackberry any more, i'll wait until I am in a nice air conditioned office to post. Or at home, which I am unable to do as I work away.

....and possibly another one. It`s alleged that `aledgedly` might be spelt `allegedly.` Possibly. To be fair.

Wedges and wadges aside, I'd say it's likely that we will make him a very good offer and he'll sign. That doesn't mean he stays for another 3 years, but it does mean (a) he gets paid many thousands more every month and maybe a signing on bonus and (b) if he does go we get much more in transfer receipts.

Given this looks to be in both Adam's and in Saints' interest, it will probably happen. He may well still leave in the Summer , even then.

The right time for a large offer was December 2009 which was 6 months after the new ownership and with 18mths left on his contract.

At this point Adam can force a sale through to a Club elsewhere simply because he can hold over us the threat of being free of any contract next summer with us then getting a development award.

This delay will probably have lost us £2m to £5m.

Yes, did we not open negotiations with him at that time ? Why not ?

Are you constantly in negative mode ??

Jesus, your worse than Alpine.

Of course you know with absolute proof that this is the first and only offer we have made.
