Next stop the Championship, Portsmouth - start shytting your panties.

Ok, without getting carried away, two great results, but we've got to start being consistant and winning the away games.

In this form, we could smash Blackpool...

Clean sheet as well :) great climb up to 2nd, consistency vital now tho as there are still 6 teams who can dislodge us in one game if we mess up.

BUt hey! superb back to back results to close the old year and start the new.

Look out Brighton, we're coming to get you...... EVIL LAUGH!!

Amazingly, I think this is the highest I have ever seen Southampton in any League, ever.

Makes me happy!

Chuffed, scoring goals again.. now to win a scrappy game away at a team at the foot of the table. Win that and I really think were in business.. One good run and we can give ourself breathing space.

With Huddersfield V Sheff Wed on Monday if we can win we can get further away from one of them. One game at a time and we can hopefully break away, we certainly have it in us. Great result.

A couple of good home wins is great but now we need to start picking up points away from home especially as we have more away games left to play. Getting 3 points is a must on Monday. COYR

5 more home games played than away (13 played at home so far, only 8 away). I've never seen such a discrepancy before. :?

Given Saints rather weak away form (W3 D1 L4) am I the only one a bit worried?

Happy too, but not really amazing. Would have had to have been 1st to be higher, that hasn't happened since 1984 (?), before that in the late 70s, not sure if we were ever 1st but were 2nd, and before that in the mid 60s. I remember them all, but then I am an old git.

Great result and performance by the sound of it.

With Swindon losing today and now being three points off relegation I can't see them holding onto Charlie Austin (even if he doesn't come to us). Perhaps he's looking at the table (and shots on goal we have every game) and starting to think.

But we've got the right team on the field now, it will make all the difference sometimes.

Alpine says Adkins isn't up to it.

I wasnt the only one after losing to Brentford and being 0-1 down to Huddersfield.

Anyway, enough of the diversion. This feels like a win of massive proportions in more ways than one today. We have finally broken into the top 2. The only thing that can deny us auto promotion now is ourselves, imo.

Interesting times ahead, definitely.

Going to look for comments about Lamberts contribution now, since I see that as the major black cloud on the promotion horizon. We won 4-0 and he didnt score.

Good reality check ... one bad weekend and we could be outside the top six before you could say WTF !!

But being 2nd and scoring (and missing goals!!) for fun against pretty good teams must breed confidence and we should fear nobody and hopefully that will be reflected with good away performances.

Happy New Year Saints. Thank you for making this a perfect New years celebration. Momentum is the key and this could be a fantastic time to play the Daggers ( although we all know how we can sometimes implode). Shame Brighton and Bournemouth managed to get results today would have closed a gap one end and opened a gap the other. Oh well. Thanks anyway.
