Very good footballer and I strongly believe Holloway will get the best out of this talented lad..

He was a Pardew signing and for whatever reason not really in Adkins plans...

Good luck to the lad and to Blackpool.. Hope Beattie finds some form for you lads...

We have two very talented lads in Lallana (back from injury soon) and Chamberlain and two very good back ups..possibly..

AND two or three top class youth players ready to make the break through next season...

3 points tonight please Saints..

seems like he can turn it on when he wants to, but can be a bit moody and has had issues with prev.club managers.

If he gets along with Holloway , you'll see some exciting football from him - if not we'll have him back in May and flog him to Millwall instead - if they can come up with 500K.

Hello chap.

Puncheon is a funny one. He has a history of only staying at clubs for a short time and when we first signed him we were delighted. He showed excellent poise on the ball, movement adnd he chipped in with some excellent goals. At his peak he is at least Championship quality, as for a step up to the Prem... only one way to find out.

When it became clear to him that he wasn't first choice his attitude turned. He was a totally different player at the start of this season. His passes started going awry, his shot ballooned over and all in he looked a total shadow of himself. There were murmours behind the scenes he wasn't happy with not being first choice and things spiralled out of control.

He has a massive ego, that much is clear. If you can manage that he will do well for you, if not I fear it could disrupt the good spirit that you guys seemingly have in your squad.

All the best with him. Oh, and all the best to James Beattie up at your place as well.

He'll start well. He starts well for all his clubs, but he won't settle.

Once his honeymoon period is over, everyone will be really frustrated that the exciting, pacy, skilful winger that started at the club has been replaced with a frustrating sulk, with no end product.

Still if you've only signed him for a few months, hopefully you'll only experience the good Puncheon

No denying the lad's talent and ability with a football, but his application and attitude seem to be lacking at times. The sort of player that needs an arm round his shoulder rather than making him an outcast which seems to be the case here. If Holloway gets the best out of him, you will have a great player on your hands. Best of luck!

Hello chap.

To give another analogy, signing Puncheon is like marrying Jordan.

At it's peak, it's like nothing else. Then after a few weeks the cracks start to show, only to end in petulant behaviour.

Probably unfair to some, but this is allegedly the same tosser who showed his respect to Markus' legacy by wearing jeans to the memorial service.

Thanks for all your comments.

Interesting.

Grayson and Parkes made a point of saying they would only sign good characters, whereas Ollie has a signed a few alleged big heads and wrong 'uns (e.g. Bouazza).

Guess he reckons he can sort anyone out, but doesn't always work (e.g. Bouazza)

Hopefully we get the good Puncheon and the dressing room will sort out any god-complexes.

Regarding Beattie, someone rather cruelly said the signing was good news for anyone still playing Championship Manager 2003.

Nice to hear you saying good things about Brett, he's not managed to cut it this season but will always be a legend.

Leeds fans a good laugh about us signing Crainey, but he's been great for us.

Euell, er, well ... seems like a nice guy when I bump into him at the local supermarket.

Got to say I fear we'll struggle to scrap out the four or so wins we need and you might be on for a dirty weekend next season.

Thanks again.

I love Brett.

One of my favourite players for some reason.

Hes a good player, but for some reason he just aint doing it here. Did great at Millwall, and will probably now do well at you. Sometimes it just doesnt happen for someone at a certain club, seems that club is us. Dont put him on the right though, hes so predictable.

He cant shoot either, but that seems to apply only to us.

If hes on song, you'll have a handy player I have no doubt about it.

He's fast, fairly tricky (but a little greedy) on the ball and if only we'd moved the goalposts to Row Z he'd have been a prolific goalscorer for us.

This!!

You may want to station a few ball boys outside the ground or your bill for replacement footballs will be as high as some of the salaries you pay :?

Brett was quality, if he captures the form he had for us then maybe just maybe Beattie will have another good season.

Tony Parkes brought Brett back to us in rather strange circumstances from our neighbours and dearest friends two years ago.

Grayson left us in a mess as he used masses of loans who went back in January after he left.

Most thought Brett was a panic move, and that he'd spoil his Blackpool legacy but he surprised us and we stayed up.

He had a great season last year, topped off with the Wembley winner.

Sadly, this season's been a step too far for him, would be nice for him to get a goal though, he's the only player to turn out for us in all four divisions.

Got a good payout from the £5m promotion pot, and he's allegedly spent about £3.70 of it.

And his dad still won't watch him live.

No allegedly about it. I was there. As if the jeans weren't bad enough, he slouched up the aisle with his hands in his pockets too. Somehow it just seems to epitomise the sort of person he is by showing that lack of respect for the occasion. It could be overlooked if he was a brilliant player, but his career is suggestive that several managers have liked what they saw initially, but grown disenchanted with his attitude somehow. If he had Ormerod's attitude and determined application, he would be one hell of a player. He might yet decide that the faults lie with him and not the various clubs that he has left in his wake.

Lawrie Mac said that a team needed Road Sweepers and Violinists. Ormerod was a road sweeper and Puncheon is a violinist with broken strings.

Brett will always be very well regarded and popular with Saints fans.. I do hope that he links with Beatts to the same superb effect they did for us a few years ago..

Decent player when he can be bothered, better than league 1 for sure.

Just keep him perpetually on loan and he'll be great, as soon as you make him permanent he'll lose interest and throw a strop.

PS: I think you made a good signing with BT, still plenty of goals in the lad yet. Shame we couldn't get him.

Afternoon,

Puncheon is a petulant knob who very rarely passes and tries speculative long-range shots which hit the target maybe 5% of the time. My personal favourite memory of watching him play was witnessing him shoot 55 yards over the crossbar from INSIDE THE AREA, nearly hitting the roof of St Mary's. He's got talent to an extent, but his lack of a team ethic and limited vision will always stunt him as a footballer. Maybe Ollie can get him working hard, but I doubt it. Just another primadonna with a bloated opinion of himself. Oh, and he wore jeans to our owner's memorial service. Total w4nker.

FOr once i agree with you. There is no doubt he has a lot of talent but his attitude leaves a lot to be desired. I dont think Saints fans helped him to be honest, on his back all the time with many romaticising about how much better Antonio was meant to be but with his attitude i believe we are best off shot of him.

Contrary to what others have said he is not especially fast and that is one of the reasons he gets stick from fans. I'll explain. Because he lacks that yard of pace that you need to get to the byeline, he tends to be played on the opposite wing that enables him to present a threat when he comes inside. Fans want to see him bat on and stretch a fullback but he doesn't ever do that. After a while fullbacks work out that he is going to come inside all the time and he become ineeffective leading to fans moaning at him for not beating the fullback.

What he offers is an absolutely golden first touch that will enable him to play in the top flight. He is totally one footed (left) but has the poise and balance to get him out of tight places. Some of his passing his delightful, but on occasions he tries to thread the ball through the eye of the needle and lets himself down by giving it away.

He is not well liked at our place, but not just because of the recent refusal to play (on bench) at Tranmere. He has a very laid back style which some fans hate. Initially there wasn't a great deal of tackling which got other backs up, but funnily enough the more fans moaned the more he through himself into tackles.

He was dropped by Adkins in favour of Chamberlain. At the time he wasn't playing well, holding on to it for far too long and not making quick decisive decisions. The fans moaned and he sensed it. When Alex was injured he got back in the side and the manager looked to have had a word. Instead of holding it for too long he passed quickly and became a very effective player. However, Chamberlain quickly came back in and he seemed to sulk thinking he should be first choice. There was a rumour of a training ground bust up with the assistant manager and this seemed to substantiated as after a few weeks was farmed out on loan to Millwall where he obviously shined.

When he returned he was chucked in against you and he was decent playing in a more central role. Like I said he has the touch to cope with a congested midfield. That was a one off and he was dropped for Chamberlain and that led to the Tranmere situation.

If Holloway puts his arm round him and he gets playing time, does well and gets fans support he may do well at your place. Lots of IFs though.

Just remembered another thing though.

There was a 'nice' side to the guy - before a match last season at St Marys one of his 'shots' went full pelt into the crowd and poleaxed a young kid - straight in the face.

He didn't mean it, think he aimed for the top left hand corner to be honest.

Anyway, he ran into the crowd and checked the kid was ok. Not only that, after the game he went into the crowd and he gave him his shirt.

(Which is now a collector's item. :D )

Hi raisin

Brett is one of those players you love to have in the team. gave 150% each match i was sorry to see him leave

he reminds me of to many players we have had over theyears , the unsung heroes, Hugh Fisher, Brian O'Neil, Barry Horne, Nick Holmes

Chris Marsden, They are real committed footballers like have the pampered nancy's in the premiership

As for Puncheon. I see a very good footballer there but as others have stated I would question his Temperament. If this can be curtailed then you will have a good player

Other than that he was a very good footballer.. Better than most..well an awful lot we have had at Saints...
