David brings with him a wealth of experience from the entertainment and leisure industries, having held senior positions at a number of leading brands including Longleat Enterprises Limited, Merlin Entertainments PLC and Sodexo Sports and Leisure. As part of his role, David will be responsible for the club’s Finance, IT, HR and Legal teams and will be proactive in growing the commercial side of the club. Meanwhile, the club can also confirm that Hans Hofstetter has resigned from the board of directors of St Mary’s Football Group Limited. Hans joined the board of the football club’s holding company during a transitional period in January 2014 to help stabilise the club and lend his experience in corporate governance. As expected, the club has gone on to progress significantly over the past seven months, and the Executive Board together with David will continue to build on this growth. Wes Tender Posted 6 August, 2014 Share Posted 6 August, 2014 The Merlin Group HQ is based at Poole and is like a who's who of the Theme Park/ Entertainment industry. A good CV for somebody brought in to oversee the growth of our commercial activities. So who is our legal eagle now that Hofstetter has gone? hutch Posted 6 August, 2014 Share Posted 6 August, 2014 Hans Hofstetter gone - Bence in Not really. Bence is on the "executive board" of the Football club. Hofstetter was a director of DMSWL613 Ltd. Bence is an accountant, Hofstetter is a lawyer.

Mallagroth Posted 6 August, 2014 Share Posted 6 August, 2014 Well this was the boardroom change that Guan told us about fortnight ago. I was expecting it to be more serious so this is good and he looks to be a marked improvement for an 'entertainment company' like ours.
VectisSaint Posted 6 August, 2014 Share Posted 6 August, 2014 Oh well, at least we have ditched one comedy director. Hofstetter the man who only spoke publicly once (knowingly) to put his foot in his mouth big time. Probably did more damage with that gaff about our finances than everyone else put together. At least we seem to be adding a bit more professionalism to the executive level of the company.

eelpie Posted 6 August, 2014 Share Posted 6 August, 2014 Thanks to the god of sanity that Hofstetter has gone. It was his early statement referring to our 'difficult financial situation' that kick-started the unfortunate rumours that we needed to sell players. David Bence seems to have good experience in the Entertainments and Leisure industries, so hopefully we can improve our income from these sources. (Mind I wouldn't be impressed if his links with Sodexho meant they land catering contracts with SFC)

Viking Warrior Posted 6 August, 2014 Share Posted 6 August, 2014 Fat boy I think you will find out the person you refer to is David Bradley The chief executive of the West’s most popular visitor attraction has resigned, a month after being suspended in mysterious circumstances. David Bradley, who ran Longleat Safari and Adventure Park and Cheddar Gorge, is moving on “to new challenges”, a statement from the Wiltshire estate said last night. The son of Lord Bath, the owner of Longleat, is taking over as acting chief executive, and a major review of the way ahead for Longleat is to take place. It remains a mystery why Mr Bradley, who ran Legoland before being brought in by Ceawlin Thynn, Lord Bath’s son, when he took over the running of Longleat three years ago, was first suspended, and then resigned I'll need to double check the name but a recent CFO at Longleat was a disaster, wasted money and gave jobs to his friends for crazy wages / contracts, was given the boot / managed out! As has been noted on here before it must be a French thing not only stupid but no imagination either.

I was expecting it to be more serious so this is good and he looks to be a marked improvement for an 'entertainment company' like ours. Indeed. Professor Posted 8 August, 2014 Share Posted 8 August, 2014 Thanks to the god of sanity that Hofstetter has gone. It was his early statement referring to our 'difficult financial situation' that kick-started the unfortunate rumours that we needed to sell players..... The statement includes the sentence:- "Hans joined the board of the football club’s holding company during a transitional period in January 2014 to help stabilise the club and lend his experience in corporate governance." There was no suggestion when he was employed, that he was just temping in he job but maybe it suits to imply that now rather than have people ask whether it was a parting on performance grounds. If so, it hasn't worked as people are referring back to the public utterance that generated adverse publicity at the time and which may have had some impact on clubs thinking Southampton would readily part with players. As if.
