Saints best Loan XI

To lighten the mood somewhat, can we put together a team of players who have only temporarily called themselves Saints players but done a good job of doing it?

This can include players we've had on loan and then signed re: Rasiak.

Thinking back, I suppose the one that sticks out is Ronnie Ekelund, but with so many loans in the last few years especially, can we make a full team? Would Jack Cork be in there?

(Any Marcelo Sarmiento votes will not be taken seriously! :-))

Not a bad 11 starting to take shape here. Need some full-backs though! Suggestions?

------------------- Wright -----------------

??? -------- Davies ------- Dailly -------- ???

Belmadi --- Redknapp --- Guthrie --- Berkovic

----------- Rasiak ---- Saganowski ----------

EDIT - looks like Belmadi wasn't a loan as has been mentioned on an earlier post.

Justin Fashanu

Quality player at the time. Went a bit weird though and ended up killing himself in his garage IIRC

Scored a couple of much needed goals at a desperate time for the club.

Your memory is correct, unless Sundance can tell us anything different !:smt044

Neither was Redknapp, Berkovic, Rasiak or Saga. We should only count those who came in on loan and went back, not signed permanently.

Hope the same goes for Davenport!

Berkovic was with us on a year long loan, although at the time pretty much everybody thought he was ours. It came as a bit of a shock when Souness went and then Berkovic just went back.

Typical - there's always somebody who wants to change the goalpost after we've started. Have you not seen the chaos that was caused on the Best A & B team thread..... ;)

----------Wright

Cork-----Pearce-----Dailly----??

Madsen---Guthrie---Chaplow--Kosowski

---------Camara----Pekhart

I realise Pekhart didn't do anything, but I had to pick from the best of a bad bunch. Rasiak and Saga both signed permanently in the end so didn't include them.

How about:

---------------Wright

Ifill-------Dailly-------Lucketti-------(left back)

----------Cork--------Guthrie

---------------Chaplow

Ekelund------------------------------Berkovic

---------------Camara

May be lacking a bit of pace at the back, but that front three would be deadly on it's day. Anyone got a decent left back?

What about Henri Camara ?

Wasn't he on loan - Quite handy from memory ??? (then again I have a memory like a sieve)

Thank God someone remembered, far and away the best loan that we ever had, even if it was Saggy Chops who brought him in. He may have been inconsistent but his performance against Norwich was outstanding and made me think we had avoided relegation.

Ok, so on the basis we're not using players that signed after their loan spell, we could potentially have the following XI . . .

----------------- Wright ---------------------

Ifil ------- Dailly ------- Pearce ------- Vignal

Ekelund ----- Cork ----- Guthrie ----- Berkovic

----------- Camara ----- Pekhart -------------

Subs:

Keller, Lucketti, Chaplow, Kosowski, Madsen

I seem to remember he came on and was utter ****e in that game, but just happened to get 'that' goal which made him look like he had a good game. Quality player though, i rate him.

Can't see how you can judge anyone as being utter ****e in a 17 minute appearance. His goal was glorious and was the reason Arry brought him on when he replaced Le Saux. Any player that can make his mark in 17 minutes as he did deserves better than being called "utter ****e". For a few brief days the man gave us hope, I would give my right arm for him or his like now.

Wright

Ifil - Dailly - Perry - Vignal

Really can't think of anyone except Guthrie.

Camara - Saganowski

Bit short of midfielders. Kosowski at LM, but he wasn't great. Can't bring myself to put Adam 'Do you want gravy on that' Hammill in the side.

Everyone seems to be struggling for a right back but what about Phil Ifil who played for us for a bit last season. He looked real quality. We should have signed him but instead we let Colchester get him and his career went the same way as them ! They want to get rid of him now, we should get him back seeing as the club don`t actually have a right back !
