TV adverts for gambling companies telling addicts that they are "in control" of how much they spend and how long they play. It's like giving an alcoholic the keys to the drinks cabinet and saying "lock up when you have had enough".

As someone who doesn't gamble, even I've found the wall to wall gambling ads with their gateway fluffy offers to be relentless at times. Saturating the airwaves.

Edit: Something that annoys me ( in a small way) is the look of disappointment every game at my local non League game, when I don't take part in any of the half dozen raffles. I get that they are money spinners for the club, but not of interest for everyone. I get a programme I rarely read, a pie of variable edibility and coffee that saw a coffee bean on the front of the jar once.

Middle aged men ‘getting back together’ with their boy ‘band’ mates and dressing/acting/dancing like they’re still 18. Twats.

Any group of vocalists getting together and calling themselves a ‘band’. You’re not a band - you’re a fucking vocal troupe. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Police, Soundgarden etc. etc. - they’re bands.

Pissheads who leave their seats at a footie match 15 minutes before half-time to get another beer down their fat necks.

Lefty twats that vehemently support illegal migrants, but not in their own backyard.

Rachel Reeves voice.

The way certain politicians (e.g. Starmer) use an upturned fist to emphasise when trying to make point. Twats.

Blimey, that felt good! 😉😂

Amen to all that

When I used to go regularly to saints it’d do my nut in the amount of people eating. It was mildly acceptable for a night game if they’d gone there straight from work but when it was a 3pm Saturday kick off it was unreal how many glutinous cunts would be stuffing their faces at half time. Filling their greedy fat faces with crap, do they nip down to the burger van at 3.45pm during the working day for a snack? Do they fuck, greedy fat slobs

I don't get a lunch as well though! 🙂

"The referee has spoiled the game with that red card", used to comment on an early 'early bath', most recently today's rugby match between South Africa and Italy where a Springbok was sent off in the 12th minute.

There is nothing in the laws( or rules) of a sport that restricts when, during a match, a player might be dismissed. If it is sufficiently serious foul play the ref is correct, regardless. Remember Alexandre Jankewitz at Old Trafford ?

Saw a large pack of dishwasher tablets in the food bank donation box today, not sure why it annoyed me. Surely people would want food first to be able to get to the washing up part.

Wasn't there some weird internet craze a few years ago where people were actually eating dishwasher pods?

When presenters on TV say, “It’s goodbye from xxxx and it’s goodbye from me. Goodbye.”

You have already said goodbye so why say it again?

Pieces of rags hanging off the lampposts. I wish the people who are so proud of their country they felt the need to shin up them and tie flags to them would do something about the eyesore.

It's symbolic of our decline as a country.

I find it very sad. There are plenty of proper flag posts with proper flags flying in areas that are appropriate. To see what now are no more than shredded dish cloths hanging off street furniture does nothing for “national pride.”

Talking of "proper" flags, our grandson's bedroom shows what a true flag obsession looks like;

Anyone who uses AI to try to justify or settle an argument.

AI is a powerful tool for improving argumentation skills and preparing for debates, but relying on it to "win" an argument poses ethical problems and practical limitations. It functions as a sophisticated assistant, not a replacement for genuine human reasoning, belief, and ethical judgment.

How AI Can Help You Argue Better
AI can significantly enhance your ability to formulate and structure arguments. Its main value lies in preparation and skill-building:
  • Research and Information Gathering: AI can quickly process vast amounts of data, studies, and statistics to find factual support for your position, which strengthens evidence-based arguments.
  • Identifying Counterarguments: Engaging in a debate with an AI can help you anticipate opposing viewpoints and uncover weaknesses or logical gaps in your own case, allowing you to prepare rebuttals effectively.
  • Structuring and Refining Arguments: AI can help organize your points logically and articulate them in a clear, persuasive manner, improving the overall coherence of your argument.
  • Practicing and Honing Skills: Using AI as a "sparring partner" for practice can sharpen your critical thinking and help you explore diverse perspectives, fostering intellectual growth.

Limitations and Ethical Concerns
Simply using AI-generated arguments to "win" is generally considered problematic and often ineffective in genuine human discourse.
  • Lack of Authenticity and Belief: AI does not hold personal beliefs, emotions, or a stake in the outcome of an argument. Presenting AI's arguments as your own can be a form of deception and undermines the value of authentic human exchange.
  • Inability to Grasp Nuance: AI struggles with the subtle emotional, social, and cultural nuances that are crucial in human persuasion. An argument that looks logical on paper may fall flat in a real-world, emotionally charged discussion.
  • Risk of Incoherence or Error: AI models can sometimes generate plausible-sounding but factually incorrect or logically flawed information (hallucinations). Over-reliance can lead to an inability to defend these points under cross-examination, as high school debaters in one anecdote discovered when they lost a competition after using an AI to craft their entire case.
  • Intellectual Passivity: Outsourcing the process of building an argument can hinder your own development of critical thinking and reasoning skills.

Conclusion
AI is an excellent support tool for better decision-making and preparation, but the human element—personal conviction, emotional intelligence, and genuine understanding—remains essential for a meaningful and successful argument. Using AI effectively means collaborating with it to enhance your own abilities, not using it as a shortcut to victory.

It seems to be the way for all these sort of programs now, faux grief and tears when someone leaves and mourning them like they’ve died.

another one like that was ex on the beach, only this time, as the name suggests people exs would turn up and be added to the group. The reaction is beyond the pale, “OH MY GOD!! I CANT BELIEVE SHES HERE” when one of their exes turns up.  the fucking clue is in the name pal

In a nutshell, why I never watch I’m a Celebrity or any of that. 💩 Never have.

My missus watches some junk but even she normally won’t watch those sort of programmes, Love Island is another one and Big Brother. She did watch the Batchelor early series, my ear buds went on and watched something else on Netflix.
