You know those guys were absolutely desperate to preen themselves over a 2-0 against Motherwell or Dundee as proof of his managerial genius "he's challenging for a national league title", "he's competing regularly in European competition", "if you think about it he's operating at a higher level than he ever did with Saints". Even I didn't think the clown would be quite this bad, so spare a thought for the Martin disciples who will never get the "i told you so" moment they so craved. They'll have to wait for his next job at Standard Liege or something. I heard that CB Fry not only played cricket for various teams as well as football for Saints then he signed for Portsmouth but only played 3 games for them before having a career ending injury .

In the SPL. Martin is ruined and will never manage at first team club level again. I think he'd seen Vincent Company relegate Burnley and then get rewarded with the Bayern Munich job and expected something similar to happen to him, perhaps even Man City if Pep had moved on
Midfield_General Posted September 16 Posted September 16 (edited) Relax lads, it's nothing tactical, it's just anxiety in the players and the unhelpful environment created by the fans. Change always comes with pain, but if you trust the process and show love it's so, so worth it. Edited September 16 by Midfield_General 4

Rangers, despite revenues, is a big club and gave him access to Europe. So, he's technically still on the up. He's got 2 European ties to leverage for his next post. 1
Saint_clark Posted September 16 Posted September 16 Still can't work out how to embed videos but this is worth a watch. Apparently he turned round and told a fan to fuck off in the Hearts game. https://youtu.be/0q15DIz2d_U?si=hsmNh_vYmzsekMN6

How are players to get over their anxiety, if the supporters aren't with them, and who don't think they're worthy? The Union Bears. Like the Care Bears, but with bottles of Buckfast and a European ban. 🙂 1
Osvaldorama Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I really hope Sport republic are looking at this and realising how lucky they are that our fans are so easy going. 2

Stripey McStripe Shirt Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I wish people would stop responding to this thread. I keep getting worried that he's been sacked. His tenure up there has been by far the best thing about this season so far. 2 5

I agree Russell is a bellend and I'm taking great delight in seeing him fail. I'm just explaining why it wouldn't make sense for our fans to have immediately jumped on him like rangers have given he actually achieved something with us.

the saint in winchester Posted September 16 Posted September 16 He's using the same deflecting techniques again for a poor start. "New players ... need to bed in ....time get up to speed, .... we are working hard to help them .... judge us at the end of the season....." As soon as he starts talking about scar tissue, losing mentality .... that's a full bingo card from his Saints tenure.

Something to keep in mind with the Italian Ultras/org crime videos the other day. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckged73p340o
gurru991 Posted Friday at 21:34 Posted Friday at 21:34 I feel that its fairly obvious that Martin can't last at Rangers. He's just holding on but it's a matter of time before it catches up with him . Do you think he will pick up another job easily or is he done ?

I’d expect a mid to lower Championship team will see he’s had a promotion, and also worked with small budgets at Swansea and MK. That will make him attractive to them but his ego and expectation of his own worth might be greater. Failing that : MK Dons - “unfinished business “. Forest Green - and their eco owner - might be closer to his spiritual home ( and level!) Or perhaps Leicester if your current bloke doesn’t work out. 1

CB Fry Posted Saturday at 09:51 Posted Saturday at 09:51 Win today and he's into the Semi Finals of a major cup competition which will be a phenomenal achievement and a huge response to everyone that has written him off. Fingers crossed lads, you'll get your moment 🤞 4

Easily he'd be a contender for Norwich/WBA/QPR/Blackburn/Hull/Derby/etc but probably not until next summer when a club like that decides to make a change. One of those clubs will generate the requisite level of scar tissue this season. He's quite photogenic and media savvy so depending on which way they go he could get Wrexham even. I think he might go abroad but that didn't work out great for Moyes/Pardew/Scott Parker, but maybe he thinks he could do a Schteeve McClaren and win the Eredivisie.... Holmes_and_Watson Posted Saturday at 19:12 Posted Saturday at 19:12 I've not seen the highlights. But Raskin back in and MOM, with Martin saying it might have been a learning experience for both of them. Tavanier in for Aarons, and there looking to be a bit more depth up front following the end of the window and the break. League tests to come though.

Out fanbase is bigger than it was for the Branfoot protests in the early 1990s but they’ve got 0.2% of the backbone. Mirrors what’s on the pitch, in the dug out and in the boardroom perfectly. Wet Wet Wet. I used to think Devon and Cornwall were the graveyard of ambition but it’s actually Hampshire. Edited Saturday at 21:09 by Gloucester Saint 1
